  1. I had issues with the 13 lb spring too. Failure to get back into battery. 15 lb spring and about 1200 rounds and not one failure. With 2500 rounds through my gun I have only had about 4-5 failures 3-4 of them were light primer strikes due to lower power striker spring(stocks back in), and other was the 13lb spring that I said before.
  2. Apex barrels are best by far. look at a few videos on youtube about the early unlocking in M&P barrels, apex has changed the geometry and fixed the early unlocking problem. Personally I think stock works fine, if your a bullzeye shooter or something maybe look into getting a better barrel. I would saw just get a better platform CZ/1911
  3. I started shooting CO three matches ago. I think you cant go wrong with anything with a slide cut from factory. But you have a Glock 19 with RMR so just use that and see if you like shooting with only a few shooters in CO. I usually see 1-3 CO shooters. Yesterday I was the only one.
  4. The person I was going to try to carpool with is not going to Custer tomorrow. anyone in the Everett area want to carpool?
  5. There was supposed to be a classifier at Kitsap but the range have been close for some time. Custer is the next match on Sunday but 80% of the "R" word. Custer is practically in Canada so very far drive for most. USPSA number got emailed to me today, A95377.
  6. This Thursday I went to a local outdoor range and had a safety check with the inspecting range officer, Gary wall. Went though about an hour of instruction, safety, and some live shooting. After I got my safety card from Gary I went home and became a member of USPSA and got the subscription for Front Sight magazine. After my first two matches, steel match and an action shooting match I have to say shooting on the move is much more exiting than standing in a box the whole time. To all the new shooters out there I couldn't stress enough to get your safety card first. I went to a match last weekend and was denied at the front office because I didn't have a safety card. Luckily the match was 30 minutes from my house. I stayed for 2-3 hours watching a squad and left right when it started raining. Gary said they were shooting for another 2 hours in the pouring rain. I am pumped that I can shoot a USPSA match every weekend in my Seattle area. Cant wait for next weekend, Saturday is a USPSA classifier and Sunday is USPSA match. I am also exited that my range has action shooting every Tuesday night. I now need to get into reloading, looking into a used Dillon Square Deal.
  7. Did my first steel match today! It was all muddy and raining but we had tarps to shoot under. Only problem I ran into was they had 4 8-10" circle plates on the 4 corners of a 18"x24" rectangle stop plate. I shot the stop plate 2 times before hitting the all the circle plates, 2-3 miss penalties each time. Other than that it was a blast, time to make some steel targets.
  8. I also saw my firearm flash for the first time yesterday at the range. Getting giddy!
  9. Yeah I was thinking about going to the USPSA match but I think I would rather have my first time at a match be with less people and no running and stuff sense I was in a car accident in October and still on light duty. My friend Sterling is going to the Paul Bunion match and wanted me to drive down with him and squad with him but I think it might be intimidating being in a squad with experienced shooters. Got my two mag pouches today! I decided that I am just going to shoot my M&P sense I shoot it 95% of the time. Sense I will be only shooting in one class, I took my Apex flat trigger out for the stock. I took everyone's advice and went to production with just one gun. Only two days until my first match!
  10. I get my two mag pouches tomorrow from Safariland and now have 8 magazines. My next match is this sunday. There are actually two matches one is USPSA match and other is the steel match, same one I missed last month. The USPSA match is pretty popular and I thought sense this is my first match I would rather go to one with less people. Getting pretty exited, now that football is done I don't have an excuse to miss any more events.
  11. Get on it guys botach has stock Smith & Wesson mags back in stock. https://www.botach.com/smith-wesson-pistol-magazines-all-models-calibers/ i just got three 17rd M&P mags for 72$ shipped no tax only 15 left now
  12. yeah dots are hard at speed i had to just put away the timer and just try to get solid shots.
  13. Welcome! There are alot of shooting event in WA like blasta said
  14. in my first post i put down that quantico tactical is local to me. Sense i am in WA i have to pay tax and shipping so for me not the best price
  15. I have played sports sense the age of 4-5 and i think composition between friends/others breeds excellence. Especially if someone is by far better than you in every way. I remember throughout my life their was always someone I knew that was better than me at something. Even if i was the best out of my friends i always knew the people that had more determination and grit. those people are my role models, normal people just working as hard as they can. I know of 2-3 local skateboarders/snowboarders that are now professional, even Michy Brusco the first person to land a 1080 on a skateboard only like 18 years old now. I used to skate with him when he was 5-6 and he was killing it on halfpipes 13" high. Those people are always out there find them and try to be a sponge. Another was Bryan Walters, We both graduated from the same high school in 06 and he is now a professional football player for the Jacksonville Jaguars.Played for the Local Seattle Seahawks when we went back to back Super Bowls and now has a ring to prove it.
  16. I was blessed to be at a private range with my friend and his godfather for my first time shooting. Only us three at the whole range, normal outdoors range had a skeet area, long range rifle area, and a pistol area. it was over 10 years ago but all i remember was shooting a thick steel cylinder on a swing. Now I am a welder and everytime I see something cool that I could make like a dueling tree, I search pictures and make my own blueprints. I just need to move somewhere with enough land near by to make my own range.
  17. Glad I picked up a new S&W 5" Core for range/comp gun and a used gen 3 Glock 19 for EDC when I get my carry permit. I have had to stop myself 3-4 times from clicking the "submit payment" on a STI/CZ.
  18. I am glad I picked up Firearm in general before having major life events. 27 years old,No house/car payments, No kids, No wife, one puppy, and one month of absence of leave with too much time on my hands. Pretty sure I spent around $2000 in my month off on firearm stuff.
  19. great tip. I personally have a problem of trying to do to much with my left hand and I always end up flip the mag and having it in the wrong position. now i just need to concentrate on doing the correct motions.
  20. I run a level 2 retention Safariland holster for my 5" Pro core with light. The current set up does not allow me to mount a red dot. I would get a Bladetech OWB if I was running a red dot later down the road. Main advice I would give for people with tall sights is make sure the holster will not snag the tall sights. I have been carving up the inside of my Safariland with my tall sights and it sometimes snags if i try to rotate the firearm before its out of the holster all the way.
  21. I shoot a 5" Pro Core 9mm. Apex flat faced trigger kit, SSS non captured guild rod 5", 13lb ISMI spring. After shooting my new Glock 19 with soveign green fiber optic sight and black rear, I really with I had gone with a 5" Pro .40SW
