  1. The Lee FCD is an exciuse for improperly setting up a set of dies. Any set of dies properly adjusted will produce cartridges which will properly chamber. The only exception I have seen in more than 4 decades of reloading is brass with swollen bases.

Unique is not a very uniform metering powder. For more consistent metering use a ball powder such as WSF in 9mm.

  2. You might want to check with the S&W PC un it. I called them to inquire if I could have the same titanium shrouded barrel used on the 327JM PC installed on my 627PC and the answer was no since there was some dimensional difference.

  3. Just curious..I see everybody building their Limites guns in .40..Why not 10mm? The .40 case length isn't really meant to run on the 1911 platform, the 10mm is,and the 10 seems to me to be more versatile if you want to use the gun for purposes other than competition, and,to me,just a more desirable cartridge, especially for a high dollar gun like a 2011..Is it a case of the old Howie Mandel line:"that's whatcha do.."?[Just a bone headed inquiry from an old fart who despises.40's,LOL!!]

40 S&W brass is much less expensive than 38 Super. Albeit the 1911's in 40 S&W appear more temoperamental than either in 45 or 9mm/38 Super.

  4. I just started reading the forums and found a glock kaboom.

I guess I was just ignorant of this problem.

anyway I have just started loading .40 S&W for my Glock 22C,

Learning of this KB problem has me concerned. any advice?

BE CAREFULL! I use a Dillon 550. However, I use powders which will result i a full or overfull case if double charged, inspect each powder drop visually before seating bullet and inspect the finished cartridge. I still turn out ca 250-300 rounds per hour.

  5. Rocky Patel,

Good to hear you were not injured. From your description I believe the only possible explanation is a double charge. I use a Dillon 550 and inspect each case for powder drop before proceedng to bullet seating. I gave up using Titegroup because it burns too hot and has too many fine particles. For light loads, ca 725 to 750 fps, I use WST whose light grey color is easilly seen in the case before bullet seating. For loads approaching full power I use WSF. Both WST and WSF meter with exceptional uniformity. Power Pistol is also a good choice for full power loads.

  6. The V-Comp model has a heavier barrel which does not heklp me and the comp does little if any good with the mikd loads I used. For what it's worth I purchased a S&W 327PC JM version with the alloy frame and titanium cylinder - that gun gets back on target much faster than my 627PC.

  7. Last year I purchased some inexpensive Metalform OE 9rd mags from CDNN. Stuck little bumpers on the bottom for my S&A magwell. Think I paid $15 or close to it.

They have been flawless in every regard even with an unramped barrel and varying bullet shapes and OAL. Consider myself lucky what with 9mm 1911 being finicky at times. But they're 9 rounders and the 10 rounders are tempting. For IDPA should I go Tripp or Wilson 10 rounders or just stick to what I know works in the STS removable bottom metalform OE mag: MET9773 (that's the order # from CDNN)

I'm in need of 1 or 2 more mags hence the post.

*For IDPA is it legal to have two 10-rounders in my carriers and the rest 9-rounders? Maybe I should go read the rulebook....

I have always used the Metalform 9 round 9mm and 38 Super magazines. The function flawlessly in my older Dan Wesosn Pointman and DW PM-9.

  8. I have both a curent STI Trojan and an older blued Dan Wesson Pointman in 40 S&W. The STI has a ramped barrel and the DW has a barrel without ramp. The DW sometimes has hiccups with JHP but other wise functions flawlessly. The STI experienced hiccups with a wide variety of bullet shapes.

I also have a PO16-40Limited witha ramped barrel which has been very reliable with a wide variety of bullet shapes.
