  1. I recently volunteered to be our ICORE match director and I'm looking to find match booklets from bigger events to see how other people setup stages. I've never been to a match outside of our local club so I think it would help get a bit of perspective. I got as many as I could from ICORE's website on the old IRC pages, just wondering if you guys might know about a gold mine for cool stage designs?
  2. I have only been shooting a 625, so I was going to submit my recent classifiers for L6 and they will likely give a de facto classification in limited as well. I'm sure the stats guy will wait until enough people submit to post the class.
  3. My advice is to learn how all of the action parts interact and work on them one at a time. You'll get a better feel for what changes you make do to the trigger feel. Take all of the trigger and hammer parts out and add them back in one at a time, smooth and polish anything that's causing problems. Take your time and do it in small steps, I'm on revision 7 of my guns' action for example and it's really slick. Don't pull the trigger with the side plate off if you have any of the springs in place as it can cause damage to the pins that hold them in place. Go slow and take your time. Search the forums if you have questions, there is a lot of good info already available.
  4. We had a 34 round stage today with plenty of reloads, I'm all about it! Also, I'm going to be one of the few shooting a 625 in L6. I finally got it set up just how I like so I'm going to run it all next season with 180-200gr at around 135 PF.
  5. Now you can be a problem causer and make everyone have a standing reload or really force shooters to shoot on the move to avoid them! ? I always liked the term "run and gun" and will make most of my stages fit that description for our first match of 16'. I like doing the occasional speed dump on a target but I have more fun poking the gun through 55gal drums and port holes or blasting arrays of single targets as you can see them.
  6. I just designed some of my first stages this week and it was really hard to stick to the first draft and keep everything 6 shot neutral. My preference is to have arrays where you can get creative and 6 vs 8 shots doesn't matter so much.
  7. I am really excited for this, I hadn't considered dropping 6 shot neutrality with a L6 division but that should make stage design a lot more flexible.
  8. Looks like we are going to have lots of steel and some high speed stages this weekend, hope some of you guys can make it.
  9. Last night I took the side plate off and the 625 is back to 6.0lbs. Granted there was a bit of modification to get it there without sacrificing the return feel. I tested 120 rounds this morning and didn't have issues with short stroking.
  10. He isn't doing any large frame 45s, obviously a 454 would work as well. I'm kind of bummed since I like the one I have a lot.
  11. Well that's what I'm using now for my 625 but I just got a note from the owner and he isn't selling them for 45 Colt anymore.
  12. I use a BMT for my ACP clips but was considering a cheaper alternative for the Redhawk.
  13. When he asked I send him a dozen pieces of brass I knew his stuff was going to be excellent. I don't have a loader for 45C, can they be loaded by hand or should I go ahead and order a tool?
  14. I saw that prototype on his Facebook page I think, I am very interested.
  15. I've not considered using the small charge powder bar before, might be worth a try with some powders.
  16. I just sent Dave a note about clips for my Redhawk. I've consistently heard they are the best out there so it's time to try them first hand.
  17. Same here, I shoot what my friends do...so everything.
  18. I have fun at IDPA with a revolver, the required reloads behind cover and other items to avoid a procedural help level the playing field between different types of guns. I like to keep the pistol guys honest and it's always fun when you can go faster than they do. Plus, who needs an excuse to wear Hawaiian shirts? a.k.a cover garments.
  19. Those look pretty good for the price point.
  20. I've wondered about the revolver supply clips, I hear they are pretty good but definitely not TK/Hearthco level stuff.
  21. I've read reports on the S&W forum that the 329 is not long for this Earth. when given a steady diet of 44 mag. That is very true, I had probably 500 rounds of 240gr magnum factory ammo and 500 rounds of 240gr special through it before it stopped working. Those "magnum" loads were about 2/3 the power level I run in my Rugers. The 329 is an excellent gun but it was designed to be carried a lot and shot only when necessary. I got a Ruger Alaskan to take its place and that gun has been 100%.
  22. I've had replacements poke out into the window and it will work just fine if the timing is ok. Just make sure to rotate the cylinder in the correct direction when closing it.
  23. I've had a similar experience, I tried running all of my guns as light as possible and ended up either increasing the hammer or trigger springs due to personal preference. I don't like my S&W under 6 and prefer right around 6.5. Ruger GP or SRH action I like around 7, and my Redhawk around 8. Most of the time it's the return spring, if it feels too light I short stroke them. There is also a sweet spot like you mentioned with regards to sight movement and grip tension.
