  1. Lol, sounds like a logical story to tell the wife. I'd leave the part out about finding the old one.
  2. I switched to the large DAA and it is by far the best bag I have used. I'm not a youngster anymore so I cut the straps off and carry it on a cart. It is very well laid out and will hold a shit ton of gear. I had a specialized insert made for the top compartment to keep everything organized. Thank you sarge, I read a lot of your posts and will probably go with your recommendation
  3. Thanks tanks, that's another good option to consider
  4. I am in need of a new range bag and only see three options for a backpack style. The DAA large/med which look nice and are at the top of the list, a gps range back looks pretty nice but not much cheaper than the DAA, the Ernie hill, but I have ruled that one out due to opinions of someone that has one, The shooters connection seems to always be sold out. What are your thoughts and do you know of any others that should be considered.
  5. I asked Bob but he uses wst, that's a powder I have not been able to find at the two lgs's I go to. I wanted to try and use wsf, clays, ramshot comp or hp38 since I have quite a bit of all those
  6. Have you ran through quite a few of these, I have heard clays can be petty touchy when going over 180's? I'd like to try this load out.
  7. I have found a lot of load options for 180s and seem to be pretty good, I like 4.4 of clays and bbi 180s. I have some 200's I want to try out but there is far less load data available. Do any of you want to share your powder combo for 200 coated? I am currently loading to 1.195 and .4215 crimp out of an sti framed 5" gun. Looking for 170ish pf

  9. Anyone know why some stock IIs are etched with "tanfoglio" and some are etched with "EAA Witness"?

  11. I have not noticed My egd grips fit fine on my stock IIs
  12. Why such a short oal? My stock II will do 125gr blue bullets @ 1.150 oal and not hit the groves in the barrel. Is there any reason to load shorter than that? I run 147gr BBI bullets at 1.085 in mine over 3.2 of Win231.... My bullet profile is different than your 125s but from what I have gathered the newer batches of Stock II's seem to not be reamed out as long. Mine will only run about 1.09 before hitting the landings with my 147's.. If you have an older stock II I see guys posting that are running the lengths you have mentioned 1.15. I have thought about having mine reamed but it seems to run fine like it is so I doubt I mess with it.
  13. Just an update, thank you guys for all your input. I went with the advice of dirtchevy and got the Phoenix Trinity insert. It fits and functions well. Thank you.
  14. Justin, I have also have both aluminum and composite grip. The block that will work for the STI aluminum grips is the stock sti block (not fitted) straight our of the box will fit perfect. Ok thank you. I just placed my order last night and requested a pt insert since one of the other members said it worked. I'll update the thread weather or not the PT insert works as well.
  15. Did that sarge, just haven't heard back yet.
  16. Thank you I don't want to waste time ordering and sending back to try another.
  17. What insert will the STI aluminum grip take? Some places to order the DAA Race Master has STI composite grip but I have not seen one for the aluminum grip. While on this subject, where is the best place to buy the Race Master Magnetic from?
  18. I have a stock II that is only about 9 months old and I had the same issue. I checked mine "barrel plunk" and it was about 1.09, I load to 1.085 and my gun runs great. I came from a cz and ran 1.12 all day. I thought about getting it reamed but not sure it's worth messing with. It's running fine and more accurate than I am.
  19. I recently had a sp01 listed here, I initially bought it and liked it, but then several months later ended up with a stock II. After having both I settled on the stock II. After the shadow sat in my safe for about 9 months I decided to let someone else give it a go, But was a great gun and I'm glad I got to play with both.
  20. I am not a good shot so all alphas for me probably isn't going to happen This is why I am pretty sure I'm sold on going with a 40, thanks for all the input
  21. Depending how the ss goes, I believe I will eventually get the temptation to also step up to a 2011 for limited. I only want to plan to load 9mm and 40, so I wanted to stay away from 45 so I don't have to swap between small and large primers. I have been leaning towards 40 for ss but wanted to see the general responses before pulling the trigger.
  22. I am looking to get into the ss game sometime soon and am having a hard time deciding to go after 2 extra rounds or major pf, I am not used to shooting anything but production so I am a little worried how I will handle the recoil of major pf, I could always load down to minor with 40 if it was an issue I guess. What are your thoughts? In 40 I was looking at the Trojan, in 9 I was thinking the Trojan or dw pm9.
