  1. Yes I definately can push the speed harder. I really don't practice, never liked it. I just shoot a lot of local matches. I realize that to get to the next level I really do need to practice, but I just have a hard time getting motivated to do it. Of everything I need to practice the long range rifle. That is my biggest weakness right now. I see guys after the match get in a little practice session. I'm not even motivated to do that. I just want to go home, have a beer and watch video. I guess I have to work on this motivation thing.
  2. Rest of the videos are up, click this link
  3. 1st person rifle 1st person shotgun Here is my first attempt of using my new archos helmetcam for 3 gun. What video I got came out awesome. The fist person perspective with the rifle and shotgun are very interesting to watch. I lost a lot of footage as the damn archos dvr unit seems to have a mind of it's own. It turns itself on and off and locks itself in power save mode. I might actually have to read the manual again There was a cqb "close quarter battle" rifle stage that I'm kicking myself that it didn't capture. That would of been awesome. The helmetcam does not pick up the long range targets worth a damn but that's to be expected. The targets under 50 yards and the long guns show up real well. As I familiarize myself with this new equipment I think it's going to make some outstanding video. I got a shotgun match at the end of the month and two 3 gun matches in October. So there will be good stuff coming soon. I got a bunch of stuff off the regular camcorder too that I got edited. I just need to add the secret sauce and get them uploaded. Going to take a break and grab some dinner. Still I was so excited I had to get these videos up. DJpolo I would love to pick your brain on what you figured out about using the archos. Mine seems to have a mind of it's own. We can compare notes I figured out a few things on camera angles for 3 gun.
  4. Naw the resolution is garbage after I formated the video for the net. You can't really appreciate the video resolution unless you see them full size on a TV or computer moniter The full size file is 135 mb the net size file is 10 mb. There is a serious compromise for file size.
  5. Got to test out the archos w/ helmet cam last sunday at the palm springs steel match and the rockpile match (2 matches in one day!). For Palm Springs I had the cam zip tied under the bill of the hat similar to djpolo. I think this places the gun too high up in the frame. It's ok, but I like the gun lower in the picture. I also think the bill of the hat flexes when I run so the picture bounces more than say video taken with my hosercam. Like the hosercam the wind noise is a problem. I going to have to create a wind sock for the archos helmetcam or cover the speaker hole with scotch tape on windy days, or big running stages. For the rockpile match I had the cam on the top of the bill of the hat. I think this is a much better angle for the way I wear my hat, and my size head. I did something a little different on this video as I left some of the inbetween banter between shooting. This is because I still haven't figured out how to pause, stop or turn off the archos and captured a lot of extra footage. Having both a Hosercam and a Archos Helmetcam I feel if all your wanting to do is pistol videos for the net the hosercam is the way to go. If you needed higher resolution for say dvd production then yes the hosercam will be too low of a resolution. For the net though after you convert it to a file size that will not lag on streams the resolution between the two are not that much different. What I'm saying if you are mainly going to youtube then the hosercam is plenty good. The hosercam also is a lot easier to set up. The camera angle is already figured out for you, you just but the headset on. There are no wires to deal with, and it easy to turn on and off as there are switches on both the headset and the tacklebox that houses the 2nd part of the hosercam. One thing I really like about the archos helmetcam is that the picture does not white out when you go from sunny to shaded areas. The hosercam was real bad with his. I'm going to need to re-enforce my hat so that it doesn't flex when I run. I will also need to practice more with the archos helmetcam I need to figure out how to turn it on, off and pause. I mean I read the manual but the thing seems to have a mind of it's own. It seems to lock itself on or off at times, and still captures video when I think it's off. I'm sure I just need to play with it more. What I really wanted it for was 1st person footage for 3 gun which is next week. Hopeful I'll get some good video. http://www.madtrigger.net/videos/palmsprings/ps%209-9-07.wmv http://www.madtrigger.net/videos/rockpiles...%20outtakes.wmv
  6. I copied DJPoLo and upgrade to a archos w/ helmetcam. I'm trying to figure out a mounting solution that would be suitable for 3 gun. I kind of quarter off on the rifle and shotgun so having it mounted strait on the bill of the hat does not seem to be working. I guess I can cant the hat homeboy style or something if I can't think of anything better. Having a really hard time getting the angle right where you can see the rifle and the target. Would like to angle to be set where you can see the shotgun reloads too.

    shoots low

Everyones eyes are different. I too suffer from this as there is something different about the focal plane of my eyes. I shoot everything low. My advice is to get adjustable sights after you determine it is not something with your shooting technique. When I went in to inquire about lasiks they claimed the procedure you fix my focal plane issue. That scared me because it might affect all the muscle memory I devoloped on how I point the gun.
  8. Looks like fun. 3 gun is my favorite. Do those backings behind the shoot targets in the kill house stop the bullets. If not I would expect to see a lot more holes in your shoot house.

  10. The 13# spring is the ideal choice for 9mm. The factory likes to overspring their guns, and if your running lighter striker springs you want to soften your recoil spring anyway. As far as getting that spring on an uncaptured rod, a lot of it is just practice. Really try to keep the spring strait to keep it from binding as you put it on. Once you do it a few times it becomes easy. The extended guide rod that CGR sells for the 34/35 is a big help as it is longer.
  11. Trubl from Nordic Components PM'ed me after I post on this thread about their +4 extention for the techloader tubes. So I called him up and ordered some. I hope he doesn't mind I'm posting this as he was already saying that his initial run would sell out quick. What he told me was it's a anodized aluminum extention. You just wack off the back of your techloader stick and then glue the extention on. They were 30 some bucks which is a good deal I think because I don't have to experiment too much trying to make my own, and like all the other Nordic Components stuff I'm sure it's well made and it works.
  12. I too have been wanting a 6 round speed loader. I know there is some European tube made out of stainless steel or something. I got to see one at the CA 3 Gun series match in bakersfield. It's called the swift loader. http://www.ukpsa.co.uk/ForSale.html Not sure if there is another site that sells them this was what my google search found. When I was examining the tube it looked fairly well made. all steel, and seemed to work well for the user. I did the currency conversion and it works out to $150 for the 6 round swift loader without shipping. Ralph Arredondo and Rob Melhorn also built their own 6 round speedloaders by joining two techloader sticks. I think I'm going to try to make my own also. In fact I'm going to order some extra sticks right now
  13. CA 3 Gun Series Bakersfield - Rifle Stages CA 3 Gun Series Bakersfield - Shotgun Stages Sorry it took me a most of sunday to get back to LA and then a full day to recover. Here are the rifle and shotgun stage videos. I got the one pistol stage I still have to edit, but it is not nearly as interesting as the rifle and shotgun. I also had some more techical difficulties with the filming. My batteries ran out at the last stage, could not get into postition to film the action as well as I would of liked, and I almost left my camera out on the stage to be shot (thanks for the save Ralph!) OK enough excuses please watch the videos. I'll have a full report on my first year shooting the CA 3 gun series up on the madtrigger forum up in the next day or so too.
  14. Norco ipsc match compilation 8-4-07 30mb windows media you can find the individual stages on www.madtrigger.com also for those on mac who refuse to use windows media
  15. You also need the 9mm trigger housing as that actually has the ejector on it. The 40 ejector is strait and the 9mm one has a bend in it. Presonally I never felt the conversion barrels were competition reliable because the breach face is too large and the only thing holding the case was the extractor.
  16. whats the resolution on the external camera?
  17. Yes good point it would be helpful to see the tube is full so you don't break your thumb trying to jam one more in during a stage. I wonder if they did a 10 shot tube for the open gun crowd if there would be a problem with it getting flecked with the blast. Guess it's not as much of a issue with the speed loaders though. Your not breaking any thumbs there.
  18. Saw in shotgun news that dpms has a new clear 8 shot extension tube for the benelli with other models on the way. Would be cool for the newer 3 gunner so they can see if they are loading their slugs in the right order. "Hey bro your going to about to DQ yourself because you got your slugs loaded wrong" Guess it is really most helpfun for preloading the shotgun before a run. Still they say it is lighter in weight. No word on strenght

    G34 extractor

I too have had extraction problems. Through my experimentation the 9mm LCI (loaded chamber indicator) extractor works best. Run it with the short load bearing button.
  20. Just got back from a Great 3 Gun Match in Fresno. This was part of the CA 3 Gun Series. Outstanding Stages, great guys. Anyway enough jabbering I got the videos ready. CA 3 Gun Series Fresno Jack B Compilation video Squadmate Jack Boyd was ripping it up so I did a compilation video of him shredding the stages. You got to check out his shotgun reloading technique. Also tried something different on the music soundtrack should be more tolatable by those that are fast and loud music challenged.
  21. I shoot a open glock with a melted jpoint. On my open glock from time to time ejection, extraction, and feeding have been an issue. Although it is a Glock it still is a open gun and they need some tinkering. A aftermarket ejector would sell very well I think. If you put set screws in for the trigger bar adjustment, and maybe inpove the area the trigger spring attaches I think it would be a good seller. Maybe make it out of aluminum and or steel (entire trigger housing). If nothing else I would like to change the way my glock ejects so i don't have cases hitting the lens on my dot. Doesn't happen often but enough that the lens has some minor dings.
  22. I used videowave for a while. Really didn't like it. Not very intuitive and caused some funky artifacts in the videos sometimes. I'm using Ulead Video Studios now. It is great, so simple, intuitive, and many many features. It also loads faster and renders the videos faster. I still use windows movie maker to capture the videos, and then ulead to edit for the compilations. Only thing I don't like about ulead is that I can't use AAC files for the soundtracks. I have to convert to MP3 which is kind of a pain.
  23. Latest videos. The compilation video has loud, fast music with explicit lyrics. If your not into said stuff I recommend you turn down or mute the volume. Palm Springs Steel Compilation 7-8-07 The individual stages can be seen here with no music just the sweet ring of steel. Palm Springs Steel individual stages 7-8-07 Rockpile Steel 7-8-07 For those on Macs who refuse to do windows media you can go to my youtube site
  24. Got some new video software and have worked up some compilations of some shooting video. The IPSC video is short and furious. The SSA steel match video is quite a bit longer. If you don't like your music fast and loud you might want to turn down the volume a little before you click. Limited Gun IPSC match compilation video 6mb Open gun steel match compilation video 18mb
