  1. I still haven't received squadding. Anybody else?
  2. Which way did you go? The skip-line is amazing and unique. Did the front and MSH.
  3. Yep. You'll hacve to cut it back to be legal though. I am actually welding mine to a full 6" on my 6" 9mm.
  4. I really like my 2-port Clark steel comp. My experience on other guns with 9 Minor loads and bigger comps has been reliability suffers because it takes a weaker spring to run the gun and that in turn can lead to feeding issues. I have one gun with a 3-port and 2 side ports that won't run 130PF ammo consistently with a 7lb spring. Some guys have success with the bigger comps and Minor loads (like SC/Bianchi Minor), but I don't personally think it's worth the headache.
  5. You will NOT be disappointed. Absolutely cream of the crop.
  6. The rear of the bottom lug should be contacting the VIS towards the top of the lug, distributing force at it's strongest point, or at bare minimum it should have even contact. You'll often see the VIS relieved with an endmill to create a "bowtie" raised portion whereby the top of the lug must contact the VIS because the bottom of the VIS is relieved several thousandths. I suppose a short link could cause this, but it's much more likely that the link or slidestop pin would break first. My guess is that is was a really bad barrel fit that was riding the link hard and not hitting the VIS correctly.
  7. Looks like Colt, Kimber, and Sig are on the roster as Gold level sponsors, and Zero is a sponsor as well. No title sponsor as of yet, nor do I expect one 3 weeks out. Guys, I promise if I ever hit the lottery I'll be the title sponsor. "Kyle's Bianchi Cup Championship and Liquor Festival"
  8. Awesome! I'm done messing Kimber even if the gun is a good deal. I've got a 45 that shoots pretty well with a Kart in it, but the 2 9mm's I've worked on have been geometry nightmares.
  9. Quick follow up: I had Jess Clark look at the gun a few weeks ago and he said the fit was very good, but that bushing seemed to have some tight spots when he spun it on the barrel. I put the barrel back in the lathe and turned down roughly .0005-.001" off the muzzle bump with emery cloth and put the same bushing back on and they thing is shooting absolute BUGHOLES. I'm talking hand fired groups for 6-10 shots into under a nickel size at 25. 4-5-6 shots totally into the diameter of a dime. Thanks for all the help guys. For fun we dropped it into a 38 Super Les Baer with the 1.5/50 guarantee and it fit very snugly (luck) and it outshot the Baer barrel by 30-50%.
  10. And you can count, on me, waiting for you in the parking lot.
  11. Great experiences here as well!
  12. No butthurt here when it comes to winning HOA. Do I want to? Yes, but who cares. If there's money on the line for HOA and a pistol match gets won by a rifle, I do roll my eyes. My issue stems from the fact that we often keep rimfire as separate match entirely. In some sports, only a junior can win HOA with a rimfire, everyone else shooting rimfire can ONLY win in their division. SC is a time match, with the assumption everyone shoots all 5 plates...I'll stand by my statement that it's more than simply an equipment advantage to start pointed at the target. An example is a "wall of steel" match being shot near me later this year. It's a "run what ya brung" top-down match with normal PF requirements, essentially discounting rimfires. PCC will dominate it due to the extra time advantage. I could shoot PCC and perhaps win...but I want to shoot a pistol. But don't take my word for it, the Steel Pro-Am for 2017 has already completely secluded PCC as an entirely separate match.
  13. I did this today **cough...at work**. I just grabbed a 5" long threaded 1" pipe, screwed that into a 1-1.5" reducer bushing, and then the bushing into a 1.5" female union. I wrapped the threads with one wrap of black electrical tape. It's very stable (although you can't easily permanently fix to bench). Now I can slide the spare shell plate onto the 1" pipe and it rests on the little 1.5" shelf. The toolhead will slide onto the threaded portion of the pipe but won't pass that. I just taped it to make it look cleaner.
  14. That's it, I'm bringing the Marvel .22 conversion out. Gonna take the local scene by storm.
  15. Totally agree, tried it too. I might be on board if the top end had completely independent parts and a slide-mounted optic. I'm not crazy about slide mounted optics so I wouldn't personally.
  16. Do you realize you just completely agreed with me? I could care less about class and lower divisions.
  17. No, and my rationale is this...if I can't catch the Open guy, he outshot me either way, but I have the ability/possibility to improve and beat him, there is nothing fundamentally handicapping me aside from sights, which can be shot as fast by an accomplished shooter. Surrender/hands-at-side draws, shooting weakhand, whatever the COF calls for. Anyways, specifically in Steel Challenge (not normal USPSA, as I've clarified like 3 times), they start with the gun pointed generally at the target and I'm starting holstered at surrender. There is little I can do to catch them with that much of a handicap, even if I shot like Max Michel. Whether I'm shooting a SS or Open gun or whatever I still have to do the same as the other shooters...except PCC. You guys act so shocked...but there are a metric shit-ton of veteran shooters who think it's getting out in the weeds a bit...not to mention affecting stage design and/or COF, slowing the matches down, etc. It's just too far apart in my eyes, and I'm entitled to that opinion.
  18. Good point, it's totally the same thing. When I shoot iron-sight divisions (I usually do) I still want to beat the "higher" divisions. That's being a competitive person. You probably get super stoked when you finish High C/B class at the local hosefest, right? I mean, why would you even care what the other classes shoot? The only thing that apparently matters are the people shooting within your tiny bubble of class/division.
  19. Right here, me. I'm a competitive person, I wanna win the whole damn thing, or at least have the chance to. I wouldn't feel limited in a normal USPSA match, bring on the rifles, but the advantages in Steel aren't even close. In Steel, a mediocre pistol shooter can shoot PCC and run with a world class pistol shooter and claim top spot. The advantage is astronomical.
  20. Traditional USPSA aside, they have an astronomical advantage in Steel. I shot this weekend and I pushed as hard as I could and couldn't beat the 2 fastest PCC guys while shooting Open, and they weren't THAT fast on target. My issue stems namely from them starting at the "low" ready position. They automatically have a .5-1.5sec jump on the entire field not having to draw, something that gets more diluted in normal USPSA than Steel. Do I care about finishing 3rd instead of 1st for a local match? No. What if there's money/prizes on the line for HOA? Then yes, I think it's silly that you can bring a rifle to a pistol match. Maybe add an automatic .5 seconds to PCC? I dunno. Look at road racing...you've got several divisions racing amongst themselves and for overall in a variety of cars. However, you don't see superbikes on the track, because its a car race, not an any-vehicle race. Practical pistol shooting was just that for 40 years, now all these people wanna say "well it's PRACTICAL Shooting Association, not PISTOL Shooting Association" the second PCC comes along. But hey, it's 2017 and boys are girls, cats are dogs, and rifles are pistols. I'm cool with PCC, but I believe it should be completely separate considering how many people have come out of the woodwork to shoot it. I.E.- Have an entire PCC branch of the sport where they have their own divisions within it; to include Major/Minor scoring, irons/optics divisions, mag limits, etc. That's just my take. Maybe I can convince the NRA to start a Laser Guided Cruise Missile Division for Highpower, don't worry, you can still win in your division.
  21. I'll be there George. We'll talk. -Kyle W
  22. Joe, HP38/231 is a fine powder, but I have had EXCELLENT success using Titegroup in the 3.9gr range with the 115 HAP. That load was actually what I used to fire my smallest 6-shot group at 50yds with iron sights, at around .8". Out of curiosity, what settled you on that load? It's about 200FPS faster than needed to make Minor. Sometimes in a slower twist you've got to drive them faster to get the accuracy, but a standard 16-twist Kart should shoot them excellently at around 1100fps if it'll cycle with the comp. One note that I found with HAP's that isn't nearly as finicky with the comparable Zero, is that seating depth can make a tremendous difference in accuracy. The HAP has a very sharp and pronounced ogive and yields best accuracy up near the lands in my testing. The Zero has a little more wiggle room with a gentler ogive. My testing yielded a 50% reduction in average group size in an already good shooting load, just by testing lengths. Of course, it'll be throat dependent.
  23. Reloading Podcast on FRN is one of my favorites.
  24. I am David. Is it functional as-is for AP? PM me a price and maybe we can work something out.
