  1. Dan. Pull your barrel and look down the chamber. See if there is a ring of gunk in the front of the chamber. Sometimes there is a sharp edge due to the barrel liner on the back of the barrel. Polish that area, but don't take any material away. Also hand chamber rounds and eject them, seeing if there is any marking on the bullet. I have seen the extractor cut on the barrel push into the chamber, and mark the bullet. A few minutes and a round file fixes this up.

Last, make sure your hands/thumbs don't ride the slide. Most of my friends have went to the Swenson shielded safeties and their malfunctions went away.

Hope this helps....It is a great unit and when you get it figured out it will give you years of pleasure!

  2. Red Dot is a little too fast for most small case lead loads. Due to the hardness of the bullet it is leading from melting of the base of the bullet instead of swelling out and sealing properly going down the bore.

You might try a lead bullet that is a little softer, or try a slower powder like Titegroup, 231, etc......I know...you have red dot and not the others.....You can lower the load but that may not help.....

  3. Rowdy, my primary shooting glasses are Randolph Rangers, with interchangeable lenses(similar to the Decots). They sit high on my nose, and work perfectly when I go prone at Bianchi. If you only need the prone every once in a while you may end up doing the rollover prone position.

  4. Sorry guys.

From someone who has shot some of the big matches for years and seen the involved parties do their "thing" this is no surprise that we are here now.

After the first "new" steel challenge with USPSA at the helm I knew something would come to a head, and years later here we are.

For those of us that have been paying attention the resignation of two honorable men (Area Directors) after making a motion to remove the ED(one of whom was threatened with legal action), and then a long time employee that has worked with the ED for years seeking legal counsel (after legal action was threatened against a Executive Board member), and then resigning after posting information to make sure that she is not the fall guy?

Our problem is that we are all alpha males drawn to competition, and want action taken quickly. It doesn't work that way.

We have to be patient and let the Executive Board do their collective job. I have contacted my Area Director and let my feelings and observations be known, for what they are worth. It is really a sad thing, that our organization is experiencing a lot of things similar to the Government right now........If we are truly not happy with how things are being run, will we do the hard work and make a change, or sit around and carp about it on the internet.....Time will tell.

  5. Be VERY CAREFUL when loading below 3.0 grains of CLAYS. The large flakes will bridge and you can have poof instead of blam. Keep weight on the powder feeding down or put some type of vibrator on the powder measure. I thought it was bs but it happened to me as well......

DougC PS Titegroups is much better powder for both bullets and meters much better and is more accurate than CLAYS.....in my experience.

  6. First off. I would load shorter at 1.230 OAL so it will run in all guns.....

Second, reduce load and chrono til you get your PF you want.

Only problem is that it is a slower powder and you will have more recoil than with faster powder, and you might have more unburnt powder as well...ie. not as clean.

  7. Leatham swears by a roll crimp on his 625 ammo, before the Minor guns took over. I would look at a Redding roll crimp die. You can have the body turned down so it will fit in the SDB unit by a machinist. Just take the Dillon unit in and have them measure it up.
