Minor .40 load with CLAYDOT is identical to CLAYS load, as my chrono verified yesterday......

If the brass is not too nasty we just shake it clean with the sorting trays and then roll it. I then throw it in the tumbler. The cleaning also takes the marks off the brass. It also gets taken off when you tumble it after lubing. It is not rocket science, Just try it and figure out what works best for you.

They are pretty much identical....except CLAYDOT is available....sigh..... I love CLAYS for major 45 and minor 40....that is about it....

3.2 grains of CLAYS or CLAYDOT at 1.125 will run most stock sprung guns and is close to 140PF with a 180gr bullet. Same POI as major loads and soft....

I don't know about the powder letting up anytime soon. When the biggest powder distributors are not taking backorders, and they don't have any to sell that means they are still filling backorders or don't have any and don't know when it will show up. The last regional gun show I was at there was 10bs of pistol powder at the show, period. I told all the guys who asked at my table where some was at a neighboring shop a town away. Monday when I went in there it was all gone..LOL.
I just got a shipment of powder in 1/3 of my order that I placed over a year and a half ago when I was in business full tilt. This is the first powder they have seen in a year and a half. I hate to say it but we are not caught up yet.....My humble observations....There is some out there, but you have to hunt to find it.....

Get a ladder. pull off the spring from the bullet feeder assy so you can let the bullets fall into a small box. Pour bullets in the hopper and let it run. Just watch it and then you can mess with the caliber insert and adjust it until you don't have any issue. Make sure not to over fill the collator as well. Good luck.

Good stuff. A buddy here bought a 929 and I am going to work some loads up with him as well. I will be using a coated 160 and tightgroup, 231, Solo 1000, and 320. I hope to have them done by Christmas....this work thing sucks.....LOL

After having a couple of Dillon powder measures loosen up on me years ago. I now check the powder every 100 rounds when I put more primers in. I do it without even thinking about it. Now if I have a problem I have a small batch to pick through.....Glad you caught them before any other problems occurred....

Switch to a LEE sizing die. Make sure it is screwed down to the shellplate. Crimp to .420. See if that helps.....

5.3 grains of 231 at 1.230 OAL. Chrono from there......

Unless you are an established reloader with multiple contacts and several tons of powder right now you will not make much on regular ammo. I personally got tired of working two jobs and sold my business at the right time. There are many small companies that are going out of business right now because they can't get pistol powder. Anyone going into the ammo business right now is going to hemorrhage cash to buy overpriced powder, as primers and bullets are back down to reasonable rates. This is not the time to start an ammo business. The people that are doing well are guys like Freakshow who are loading specialty calibers full time or established businesses that have tons of contacts to find stuff when they need it.
On the brass side, there is not a lot of guys processing brass right now. If you want to find a couple of old Scharch machines and roll sizers you could make some money. You will need space, something to move pallets with, and cheap sources of brass at a Buck a pound. Much more than that and you won't make much margin. You also need cheap hand labor to sort the brass. You will handle the brass at least 5 times before it leaves your hands.
Sounds like fun doesn't it.......You have a lot more research to do......Good luck!

For informational purposes:
My Bianchi load which is a 115 JHP Zero or Hornady XTP running 1150-1170 will shoot 1.5in at 50 yards.
A Twoalphabullets.com Lead 122 TC coated bullet sized .357 running 1100 + shoots 2.5-3in depending on the day at 50 yards.
"Most" coated bullets will engage the rifling better than a FMJ bullet and be more accurate at longer distances.
JHPs will be more accurate at longer distances over them all though due to the weight distribution of the bullet.
Depending on your gun/barrel combo and the distance you are shooting and your accuracy requirement either will work, but until you test them you won't know for sure......

Add more crimp to see if that will keep it from stringing.....
After that make some incremetal loads. What ever you loaded . load 12 up at .02 grain more. 3.2, 3.4, 3.6 etc. I like to shoot paper plates at 50 so I can keep them them and make notes on them. When the load goes from stringing to circular you are getting there....Good luck!

Run a 10lb spring on a guide rod. Make sure the load will lock back the gun, then add .02 grains more for reliability. If it locks back at 3.8, then keep the 4.0 load. That is some soft shooting.....

Another option is to find a bulletcaster that runs a magma 160RN Super mould. I get my 160s sized .358 and coated so they don't smoke from Twoalphabullets.com The .358 doesnt hurt at all, and you can load the bullet in 9mm through .357 with no issues.....

Cecil.....what does your chrono tell you with the Autocomp load?

Dan, try some standards as well. It was set up to run standards.
