    glock 19 gen 3

I have a chance to purchased a used Glock 19 gen 3, after reading reviews of the gen 3 vs the gen 4 not sure of which to buy, reviews on the Glock 19 gen4 say due to the double spring for the guide rod, there is less felt recoil, if this is true, then i would have to buy a new spring assembly for the gen 3, not sure of the cost, i do alot of range shooting. I have a gen 4 G17 and guns works fine. i can pick up the used gen 3 for $100 less than a new gen4, 100 bucks savings is good but if i am going have to spend 50 on a metal guide rod or so, it's questionable. any preferences, any other differences i am not aware, what would be the wiser choice Chet
  3. been wondering if anyone notices any differences in accuracy when target shooting the 9mm semi pistols with sorted brass vs mixed head stamps Chet
  4. HI GOF i was running around a LGC today, i came across a Gen 3 Glock 19 and he offered me a good trade for my SR9C, he is going to have the gun on monday, i am going to check it out, so if i might ask what would your choices be for carry. Thanks Chet
  5. you got that right, gonna try the glock 19, was hoping to see on at a range to try, Chet
  6. was shooting at a practice range doing double taps at 2 separate targets at 20 feet distance, i started with my glock 17 and had no problems, then i did the same with my CZ 75 B SA, Glock slightly better, then for the heck of it i give my carry gun a try, which is a Ruger SR9C, i want to say when target shooting at 20yrdsi can rival groups along side the Glock 17 and the CZ, so now try the double taps with the SR9C, to my surprise i could not get the second shot off as fast as the other 2 guns mainly because i could not get back on target and accuracy was no where near the other 2 guns, so this got me seriously thing this is my carry gun and in a real situation, this aint good, so it brings me to the next question, since the glock 17 is a little big for carry, so the glock 19 came to mt mind, since i never shot a glock 19, question i have is will the 19 have the muzzle flip as bad as the ruger, will i get back on target as good as the 17, i know the barrel is shorter than the 17, but how would they compare in a side by side test. i lost my confidence in this SR9C as a carry gun today, hoping a 19 will do the trick. any comments. Chet
  7. i want to replace my old and huge binoculars for a pr of good ones to see bullet holes out to 50yd target shooting, what are most shooters using these days, is image stabilizing needed ect. Chet
  8. My latest batch of 135's are darker and smoother than ever - I've bulk ordered (I split with friends) many 10's of thousands of Bayou Bullets over time in various weights, calibers and colors and never seen an 'orange peel' effect. i tried a 1000 of the Bayou 147, all orange peel, not to say they did effect accuracy, but i rather a smooth finish
  9. I have shot thousands of them through my XDM 5.25. Great little bullet, I use it as a soft shooting steel challenge load. Very accurate even at lower power factor loads. thanks Dave33, i will try some of those also, Chet
  10. has anyone ever tried the Ibejiheads 9mm 100gr swc bb bullet. chet

    Ruger SR9 vs ?

i have a few 9mm auto's, i am finding the SR9C to be real accurate, curious if any shooters have the Springfield RO compact in 9 mm, or the SR9 ,, my wife currently has a EAA witness match elite a bit heavy for her, same with the Kimber custom 45 a bit heavy after 20 shots or so.she had the Springfield 9mm XDM with the 4,5" barrel trigger was too long of a pull, and had the Sig P320 not thrilled with that one. she is currently shooting the Walthers PPQ, but she shoots my SR9C better by a margin and I, so the Walthers will be getting traded in. I know there is a price difference over the SR9 and the RO, would they accuracy be comparable Chet
  13. thanks for all the suggstions, looks like the Ibejiheads 147 design is very similiar to most what i am looking for. the dia is .356 is also what i am after, the blus bullets look good too but is .355 dia, and the price is fair at $240 shipped for 3k thanks Chet
  14. i have been using the 9mm BBI 147 bullets, since the new design is a no lube groove type, i have to load shorter, so this puts the bullet deeper in the case, so looking for some 147 coated bullets that i can load longer than them, the coated grooved design they had before were great and the finish was smooth, i tried the Bayou 147gr but was not thrilled with the orange peel finish, i am tending to stay with the 147gr fp design as the Bayou are and the BBI were.unless i missed the bullet, does anyone have a 147gr coated with a smooth finish that i dont have to load short. the BBI 147 coated grooved bullet, i was loading at 1.100, SNS looks like my option, i did try them, they were just fine, but be fore i start placing orders, checking if i might have missed some bullets that i am looking for Chet
  15. went out shooting my Ruger SR9C, i loaded 50 rounds of the plain lead 120gr tcbb with 4.7gr Unique with a COL of 1.040, load is fairly accurate, but barrel was leaded, had a tough time cleaning it, since i normally dont deal with leaded barrels. is this problem common or load related any suggestions to get around this, i have 600 of these tips. so i would like to make use of them. Chet
  16. hi palm beach1 i want to stay with a 9mm, looks like the RO Champion is 45acp. since i have the cz 75b sa, would the RO Compact shoot as good at 25yds Chet ps since i went thru about 4 guns for her, as i mentioned the Witness was the most accurate for her, but the weight got to her, i was hoping she would like the cz, for some reason she says its a bit heavy. the PPQ is nice, but it is a very sloppy fit slide to frame but for a close to a 600 dollar gun i was not impressed with its accuracy, grant i know these are not a decicated target gun, even for a poyl gun, the glock 17 is much tighter and more accurate, frame too big for her hands. the cz and the witness are superbly accurate. hoping if i try the RO compact, she will be happy. she actually shoots my ruger sr9c nice, but i want to step it up a notch.
  17. Looking to get my wife a 9mm pistol. we do all target shooting out to 25yds, over the past year i purchased a few striker fired pistols, she seems to shoot the single action pistols better, she has a Witness match Elite that she shoots good but after 10 minutes of shooting i can see it's too heavy for her, she does not really like my CZ 75B SA, so yesterday i stopped by a LGS and looked at a Springfied 9mm Compact Range Officer, this gun seems lighter than my CZ 75B SA, i have the Full size Range Officer in 45ACP and it really shoots great, so i am looking into this Compact 9mm for my wife, a little pricey at $730.00 i am just curious are there any other guns similar and less pricey and at the same weight Chet
  18. wondering if anyone has tried the new BBI 9mm 147 no lube groove bullet yet, i have been using their old style 147 with the lube groove, the max COL i can load them is around 1.090 i am hoping the new design can be loaded longer, but just by the picture i cannot really tell, Chet
  19. i dont have a chrony, i am loading BBI 9mm 147coated bullets, of these 2 loads which is the hotter or higher FPS out of a 4" barrel, 3.1 of titegroup or 3.4 of WSF, i am finding the 3.1 of titegroup is shooting a tighter group, wonder where i have to load the WSF to match the fps of the titegroup load Chet
  20. I have a 9mm M2 PPQ, i have not been getting the best accuracy from my loads, when i clean the barrel it seems like the patch runs thru it easier than my other 9mm;s, i have some 38/357 bullets 147gr that measure .357 dia, i have a hunch the barrel is just slightly larger than my other barrels, i did slug the barrel and it measure ,355, will there be any danger trying these bullets in the 9mm with 3.4 gr of w231 loaded at a col of 1.080 Chet
  21. recently been shooting my 1911;s, my load was 4.2 titegroup with 3 different 200gr type bullets, coated round nose of 2 different brands and the SWC plain lead, the accurracy is excellent with the SWC design. so i never tried for example 125gr plain lead SWC bullets in my 9mm auto's, was looking at Missouri Bullet company, they have a 128gr 9mm plain lead SWC the design is the H&G clone, this is the bullet design that works in my 45's, any other companies offer a 9mm SWC design, are they more accurate than the typical RN designs or not, are they worth a try, will i have much feeding issues ect. anyone have much experience with 9mm SWC. Chet
  22. HI Steve How accurate, well i sort of got used to my 2 favorite 9mm, the CZ75B SA and the EAA Witness Match Elite, when i do my shooting right, these guns can do 2 to 3" at 25yds, my Springfield RO will do 1 to 1 1/2" my wife can shoot the witness good but not for long, th weight gets to her, i got her a new PPQ and that don't cut it, she shoots my Glock 17 gen 4 much better, so how accurate you ask, i wish i can can find something for her as accurate as she shoots the Witness Match elite, but about the weight of the glock 17 or a tad heavier, someone mentioned the Grand Power handguns, was looking at the x-trim, or x-calibur, but since i never saw them, not sure i want to chance a mail order. she did hold a SP01 and she thought it was a tad heavy, any thoughts or suggestions thanks Chet & Diana
  23. He said something light. I guess an aluminum frame 1911 would be lighter than a cz75. Alloy frame 4" would probably be lighter than a CZ75. Of course you will give up some capacity, but better trigger IMHO and some are pretty darn accurate. HI Palm Beach1 i should have been more clearly on the next gun for my wife, i should have mentioned, capacity is not important, she has a carry gun, mainly for target shooting, someone mentioned a aluminum frame 1911, thats a thought, she already has a Kimber custom target after about 15 min i can see she is already for her 22/45 ruger Lite, i think an aluminum frame pistol might be a choice, something in the weight of a Glock 19 or the PPQ. would be perfect. trigger is important also Chet
