  1. Even Shia LeBeoulf (or whatever his name is) was decent in it. I liked it better than Saving Private Ryan, felt more honest and realistic.
  2. Great movie, loved it and I usually hate Keanu Reeves movies.
  3. This will probably be the last decent James Bond before they get too PC.
  4. At least the Chinese didn't save the day, like has happened in the last few big sic-fi movies. The studios have to appeal to the larger market....
  5. I just have a TLR-1 I switch between guns and use for HD. Has held up well.
  6. I just passed on the $1600 CTR in the classifieds, no affiliation but if I could, I would've.
  7. I actually weighed my guns last night and the 3 basic guns come in at 18 lbs. These Pelican and SKB type cases are are 25-plus lbs so staying under the 50 lb airline limit looks challenging... it wouldn't take much to go over. Looking at my shotgun and rifle, if I break them down the longest dimension I need is 34" x maybe 14" x 8-10" which would allow a much smaller and lighter case... but I haven't seen anything close to that in the product line-ups. But it doesn't seem that unreasonable.
  8. Got a Midway 3-gun bag that is 54" and it holds a 12-round M2. I'd like to find something to fly with too, although I am expecting to have to break the SG down for that.
  9. FWIW the Magpul Ranger floor plates MAG561-BLK worked well with my 10-round Gen 3 Mags but be careful to get exactly those, as the other options probably will not work. Definitely easier to find and pull from a BladeTech AR pouch. Thanks
  10. Finally going to shoot a 3-gun match in New York State... and wondering what's the best Teklok compatible way to carry three 10-round PMags? They're short and hard to retrieve from a standard pouch... I may just use my two rear pants pockets but if there is a better solution I'd like to know. Thanks
  11. I bought a used one off Gun Broker because it was such a good deal. After shooting it I realized how it needs stout rounds and lots of lube. I swung by my LGS on the way home from the range and traded it at a $75 loss towards a Benelli. I'm sure the 712 can work great if you're willing to put more effort towards maintainance, building it out, and only shooting optimal ammo. You save money but what is your time worth?
  12. Yeah this family does a good job of supporting them, Chinese quality but better than most: http://www.archerairguns.com This is the tuner I use for my German springers, about $200 for a full work up: JOHN THOMAS JOHN IN PA-TUNER 39 Big Mount Road Thomasville, PA17364 (717) 873-5128 Authorize sales and service team for Vortek products. A full tune, airgunsmith offering spring lubes, trigger tunes and other customer requested options. If you watch sales/specials you can get a HW30 or HW50 or HW97 in the low $300 range from good online dealers like Pyramyd Air. Used guns are even better, and it is hard to wear them out. There are several good inexpensive offshore scopes that are airgun rated to handle the springer's intense forward-backward recoil (yes it is harder on a scope than a powder gun) and when you're done you basically have an Anschutz sporter quality in an air rifle. IMHO even a soft tuned .177 springer is more useful for me on my property because I can legally shoot it and at the skunk-squirrel range it can be at least as accurate (I think I'm better because I'm not watching over my shoulder to see if the coast....)(and it doesn't sound nearly as loud to alert any jerks). In practical terms it's about a half or a third the power of a 22lr so you do head shots.
  13. With a springer you want to get them tuned, cocking and trigger. Obviously it's silly to throw money at a cheap Chinese Walmart rifle but you can get into a decent German HW for a few hundred bucks... Look for the "Yellow Forum" or Gateway to Airguns for someone selling an already tuned one. I have an HW50 tuned to have less power but to shoot smoother and quieter, the opposite of how most companies market their airguns. Perfect for backyard pests at 30-40 yards and for $350 - $500 you have a "lifetime" keeper gun opposed to a toy. PCP guns are great but it takes 3-4x more investment to do it right. Most people start with hand pumps and Crosmans but those get old really fast. You can buy used Mauraders for peanuts because people either upgrade or quit. There are some nice bullpups coming out but you're talking $2k for gun, scope, and tank. When they finally perfect semi-auto PCP air rifles I'm down but cocking a springer isn't that hard... 20-40 lbs depending on gun.
  14. Basically I'm a lurker, not a 3-gun competitor. I've tried a few different shotguns and carriers with friends but I own an 870 pump and a stock CZ 712. If I shoot 200 rounds per year through these that's fine. I don't have a custom M2 and am not shooting thousands of rounds for practice. Even if I can quad load, I'm not going to stay in practice with it. My question is aimed at figuring out what is the most effective way to load in a home defense situation (or practicing at the range) and I mean to ask what's in-between a modern 3-gun belt with $400 of specialized carriers and those awful shell carriers that people mount on the sides of their home defense guns? (which seems like a really dumb idea to me, plus they are slow). I've actually used the EZ8 carrier and it does work well for two loads and the shells are very secure. Right now that's the leading solution for my situation. But I'm listening and open to other ideas. I've seen those tactical velcro shell carriers people mount on the sides of their police guns. Seems slow as molasses to me after hanging out here and watching 3-gunners.
  15. Asking another way... What would a shotgun wielding solider in Afghanistan use/do with those breaching shotguns? Or are they fumbling after the first few rounds?
  16. Sorry for such a beginner-duffer question but for those of us more casual shooters who aren't going to master quad loads or spend $$$ on shell carriers, what is the best fast loading technique for stock bottom loading shotguns? And is there a better way to carry shells that falls between 3-gun shell carriers and just shoving them loose into your pockets? Seems applicable to home defense and general shotgunning... appreciate your suggestions.
  17. Just a photo of my 1301 modded out by C-Rums... loving it. The New York State Safe Act compliant AR would be a lot nicer without that stupid stock and lack of muzzle device....
  18. It wouldn't hold on mine either, not even after I trimmed around the female QD recess so the button seated tight. I tried several other button QDs and only one held fast so I think Beretta did something out of spec. In the end, I had C-Rums put a Noveske female QD in the side of the stock while he was doing some other work. Look at the inside of the stock with the butt cap off and you can see how you can do this very easily, without epoxy or much fuss.
  19. It was good but be warned it's weird. The kind of show you need to pay attention to if you like it. If you liked Breaking Bad....
  20. Ha it takes forever but it is a good way to weed out trolls and sketchy sellers that you see on other forums
  21. I'm new to "modern" pistols and am leaning towards getting a Glock 17 for starters, as a good all-arounder for everything including CCW. One of the things I've gathered from my internet reading (taken with a grain of salt, I know) is that some of the after-market fiber optic sights might not be as durable as the plain stock sights for knocking around and carrying. I've shot enough to know that I like fiber optics but now I'm wondering which brands/sizes are the most practical for a pistol that isn't going to be shoved in and out of holsters and bounced around more than average?
  22. Yeah I've got so the female QD socket it higher than the stock and tried two different sockets now, plus 3-4 brands of male QD inserts (that work well on my other guns). Something is funky with the female QD sockets on the Beretta.... frustratingly so.
  23. On my 1301 I've been really happy with everthing except the rear QD socket, which seems to spontaneouslydislodge all but one of the half dozen QD males I've tried. And I can't even tell which brand is the good one but it looks identical to the Nordic and Uncle Mikes I've bought that pop out with a featherweight pull. I trimmed around the edge so the stock isn't interfereing but now I am starting to suspect it's the female socket that's faulty. Any advice?
