  1. Ran them in the match. My son and I ran close to 180 rds each in 2 different extended mags, worked perfectly. Forgot to add that with 45 rds, the mags are a little hard to seat on a closed bolt. At this point I would download 1 rd if I was going to one for an in stage reload. Maybe they will loosen up a bit with use, the pmags I put them on were brand new.
  2. Installed them, a good fit. Tested them today and they did take the extra 5. The test went well, loaded a 45 on a closed bolt with one in the chamber. They also locked the bolt on the last shot. Will be using them in the match tomorrow.
  3. The Taran's are nice, I have some of his pistol versions. I was interested in these because of the price. I ordered 2 of them and have an all rifle match coming up. I'll let everyone know how they worked. I will give them a quickie test after we set up the match the day before the actual match. Wouldn't want to use some completely untried piece of gear and ruin my match.
  4. Anyone try these extensions? They add an additional 5 rnds. I'm looking to use them on my PMAG 40's.
  5. Has anyone else experienced what SB has, or heard of it? Just trying to find out if this an anomaly or something to delve into, maybe close the gap with a bit of solder like he said for strength.
  6. I wet it and scrub it with a 9mm or 40 brush. I dry it and look at it with a bright light, especially the leade. Once in a match I got a piece of filth in the leade and nothing would chamber because of it. Kinda' hosed my stage. After cleaning the chamber ( after every match or plinking ) I just bore snake the rest.
  7. Thanks Tim. Since the barrel is floated now I should be able to loosen the clamp slightly and retighten the mag tube. I'll throw a bit more 242 on it.
  8. I sighted in my SG today. With barrel floated slugs impacted about 2in. low. Adjusted sights to dead on. When cleaning the gun I noticed that there was some slight side to side movement on the brace/mag tube. The mag tube loosen ever so slighty. With the brace it's not going to unscrew and I did have a tiny bit of 242 on the tube threads. It's looks like it didn't hold. You guys think that will be a prob?
  9. Any updates on this piece of gear? Anybody fired their SG yet? I bought one and installed it but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
  10. Damage Industries has a 45 degree ambi on sale for $17.50. I don't have one but a friend has one and says it works just fine.
  11. Being on-safe will not prevent a slam-fire. The malf in question is when the inertia of the firing pin is enough to discharge the primer as the bolt slaps shut. Muzzle always in a safe direction is a good policy, as the safety doesn't help in this instance. Any time the gun goes off outside of a timed run and pointed at a target is a go-home if I am the RO. That way you have a free afternoon in which to replace your unsafe parts/ habits with good ones Your of course correct on the slam fire. I should have just mentioned the itchy trigger finger.
  12. This has happen to me while ROing. Couldn't ascertain whether it was a SF or an itchy trigger finger though. Because of this, it is required that the rifle is on safe coming to the line and muzzle is pointed at the backstop before dropping the bolt. Some guys like to drop the bolt when the muzzle is pointing over the mountain. I would DQ.
  13. I actually went to a stock Glock striker spring (heavier) with my Apex stuff. It really made no difference in the trigger pull and gave me a little more confidence. I don't shoot much factory ammo but I never had an issue with factory ammo and the stock spring. I did have 1 or 2 light strikes/250 rds with my reloads using WW primers. The Glock spring helped that situation, but to further my reliablity I only use Fed primers now. With Fed primers and a Glock spring I can't remember the last time I had a light strike.
