  1. I run mine (brand new as well) with the lowest rated spring supplied in the original box. Recoil is great. The sight doesn't quite track straight up and down though. It seems to bounce to the right at the top of recoil and bounce back down following the same path.
  2. I am loading to 1.18 based on Beven Grams recommendation. I am push through sizing everything using the lee bulge buster. Then sizing with a redding pro carbide sizing die. The diameter of the base after this process is about .418 or so. The middle of the case is around .416 and the area occupied by the bullet up to the case mouth is about .421. I have been looking at getting the redding grx and u-die setup so thanks for the heads up that you were successful using these tools. When I run out of WST (soon ) I will adjust OAL to your recommendation CHA-LEE and work up a new load with either bullseye or VV N310. What I have noticed is I still get quite a few cases that look like "belted" cases after sizing. Even after push through sizing prior to hitting them with the resizing die. Does the U-die help with that?
  3. I shot 240 rds through the gun and ended up having 1 malfunction. A nosedive on the 2nd round fired from 20+1 reload. The case mouth was stuck on the front lip of the magazine and a light tap jarred it loose and into battery. More rounding and polishing and we should be perfectly reliable at 20 reloadable.
  4. I tweaked them with a smooth jawed needle nose pliers. Set them to 0.385 but that seems a tad nosedive friendly so I left the rear at .385 and opened up the front / middle to around .390. That allows the top round to align with the feed lips but not give the feeling its going to pop out of the mag. Shooting a match today so we will see how they function. I also filed the front edge of the mag into a ramp so the bullet nose or case mouth can't hang up on the sharp transition. They worked in testing so wish me luck!
  5. 4.3 WST at 1.18 with a 200gr moly makes 172 pf out of a witness elite limited. SOFT!
  6. And the old mags are nosedive prone. And the k40 doesn't allow 40L.
  7. I made a slave out of a q-tip stick. Worked beautifully. I made sure not to drive the roll pin all the way out of the frame which made reassembly easier.
  8. Looks like a decent deal to me. Spend the money saved on upgrades appropriate for SS and let her rip! Support should be a non-issue as it looks to be compatible we the billion 1911 parts on the market.
  9. I like the big wide safety and the thumb guard but not the way it digs into the hand when shooting weak hand.
  10. Kneeling has 10mm mags for his tanfo? Bet they have a rib down the side and k10 stamped on them . Kidding aside I will be loading some 200gr coated to major with N310 in the very near future.
  11. Disassembly is very easy. Assembly OTOH is a bit more difficult. The only thing that requires additional attention is getting the mag release and trigger assembled in the gun. Henning has some very good videos on his site that show D & A. The 1911 sear/disco dance when reassembling the gun is about the same level of inconvenience as getting the trigger and trigger spring back in the Tanfo.
  12. Also I have noticed that the left side thumb safety on the limited gouges your hand if you are shooting lefty...maybe a smaller more lefty friendly set of safeties would be nice.
  13. I second the "competition ready package" that is already set up and ready to run the specific division. Also a USPSA specific magwell (big and not angled straight down) would be awesome. Maybe something that has a replaceable UHMW plastic insert.
  14. Mags that function and fit the box for limited 40 loaded long.
  15. That comp looks far superior to the factory design. Nice looking blaster!
  16. I am loading at longer than standard length. Surely there are folks that load to the factory length around that can help you in powder selection. WST and vvN320 seem to be very popular. 4.3 grs WST with a 200gr bear creek moly at 1.18 nets 170 pf out of my brand new limited, but would be way hot at 1.135.
  17. I just ran 5 mags loaded to 20 rds each through the gun and had one malfunction where the fresh round actually got stuck pointing upward against the barrel hood. It happened with 2 rds remaining in the magazine. I measured the feedlips on all the mags and they range from .395 to .405 in width depending on mag and where I measured. I was told the ideal measurement would be .385 to .390. Would a round sneaking up through the feedlips cause a failure of this nature? What is the most common method for adjusting feed lip dimensions? Good news is the mags were all 20 rd reloadable with brand new springs!
  18. I should also note that 200 gr bullets loaded to major recoil less than a glock 9mm. It is a pleasure to shoot!
  19. I just got one a few weeks ago. The magazines will restrict you to loading 1.145 OAL or shorter, which limits your powder options slightly. Factory ammo should work fine.
  20. If you buy a batch send me some! I will ship you something of equal or lesser value free of charge!
  21. Haha now that you mention it, yes pretty much. That and I have a large stock of fast pistol powder and 200gr bullets I would like to be able to use in this application. I used a sharp knife to whittle out the radius in the basepads. Now they accommodate both mag tube types. You can't tell from outside the mag that anything has been modified.
  22. Just found out that Henning pads (new) do not fit the old style mag tubes. The radius on the front corners is too gradual on the pad and requires significant fitting to make the mag tube slide far enough in to allow the spring loaded retainer pin to engage the back spine of the mag tube. This better be worth it
