Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hi, The 155 AMAX is very accurate in my Blaser R93 match rifle. <0.5 MOA at 100 meters. I've been playing with the Hornady 168 en 178 AMAX at 500 meters using Varget (about 44.0 - 45.0) and the results are ok. Still need some tweaking as I just started playing with them. Cheers from Holland, BolloX
  2. Anachronism, Your bolt is not ruined yet, it just looks ugly now. Rgds from Holland, BolloX
  3. Hi, In 223 I have die sets from RCBS, Dillon, Forster and Redding. The best I like the Forster BR full length sizer and the Redding S die. Rgds from Holland, BolloX

  5. Hi Don90, Don't you know someone with a 650 that could give you a demonstration? Cheers, BolloX
  6. Hi, To answer your questions, yes I load my match 223 on a 650 using competition dies with good results. (Before I got the 650 I loaded 223 on a 550.) Have to say though that for my 300-500 meter match loads I throw the powder (Varget, Vitha) with a Harrells dispenser. The caliber change on a 550 is easier, cheaper and faster than on a 650. Loading on a 550 is a lot faster than on a single stage but the 650 is faster than on a 550, mostly due to the casefeeder. keeping in mind the number of rounds you are planning to reload weekly I'd start with a 550. Cheers from Holland, BolloX
  7. Imperial Sizing Wax here at the moment but I also have good experiences with the dillon lube. Greetings from Holland, BolloX
  8. HI, Had good luck with BLC2 in 223 (AR15, SIG 550, Steyr AUG - all with 20 inch barrels). It runs like water through the powder measure as stated earlier and burns pretty clean. Only downside was that velocities when using 52 to 63 grain bullets stayed on the low side. Using 26.0 BLC2 and a 63 SMP bullet I chrono'ed about 2800 fps roughly from an 20 inch AR15 barrel. I believe the powder will perform better with 69 grain bullets and heavier but haven't tried that myself. Cheers from Amsterdam, BolloX
  9. HI, I agree with George. The Hornady 55 FMJ is one of the most accurate FMJ is that weight range I know. The other one is the 55 FMJ form Lapua, but that one is about as expensive as a match bullet.... On SP's in AR15's I have a different opinion though as they have never given me problems feeding-wise or accuracy-wise. Some of the SP offerings can even be very accurate. Cheers from Holland, BolloX
  10. Hi all, I'm thinking of mounting a Harrell's powder measure on one of my 550's but do not know how to do it yet. Does anyone here have a Harrell's mounted on a Dillon (550) or knows what would be the best method? Thanks from Holland, BolloX
  11. Hi, I've been using the grease supplied with Dillons maintenance kits for years now and am quite content with it. The syringe applicator goes a long, long way. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to try moly-slide on one of my 550's out of curiosity. Cheers, BolloX
  12. Hi, For our 100 meters standard rifle discipline I use a 110 Sierra HP and about 36 grains on Vitha N120 (in a Blaser R93 CISM bolt rifle). Accurate load and almost no recoil. Another (short range) load in this rifle I like is a Berger 135 FB with 42.0 Vitha N140. To make my Springfield M1ANM repeat with this bullet I used about 48.0 Vita N140. Cheers from the Netherlands, BolloX
  13. Hi BillT, Have you ever measured the bullet runout when using that RCBS comp die? I have one too and the runout is not better than a std seater die. It doesn't even come close to the Redding and Forster. Shooters in my surroundings using this die have the same experiences. Cheers, BolloX
  14. Hi, Have a couple of Redding comp seaters but encountered a common problem with the 223 specimen. The seatingstem of these dies is prone to cracking. And a cracked stem will damage the sleeve it sits in which in turn will damage (scratch) your bullets. This is actually a common problem I found out, loads of high power shooters experienced it. Their advice was to get a Forster BR seater. I already have a Forster BR seater in 308 and also a Redding comp one. When comparing them for bullet runout I can see no differences. According to the guys that have been using Forsters longer they are not prone to the seating stem cracking problem. Another advantage is that the Forster die is much cheaper than the Redding one. Cheers, BolloX
