  1. To mount a scope on a G.17C would pose a problem namely the front part of the scope would be sitting right above the porting vents. I am looking for a mount whereby it will mount the scope as far back as possible. Preferably a mount for C-more. Any suggestions that might be of help to me?
  2. kbear38S, I have no problem locating the dot even with my eyes closed when doing the 'awareness axercise'with the Aimpoint. Maybe I did not give myself sufficient time when I tried the C-more. I was switching between the C-more & the Aimpoint and I found that the Aimpoint was much easier to shoot with at that time. Roger Rabbit, Now that you have switched over to OKO from Aimpoint, did you find any advantages in doing so? I need to invest in a new mount to fit the OKO and I am thinking of the CR Versa Mount. Mounts are limited for OKO for Tanfoglio frame.
  3. I want to have another go at the 'hud' type of scope. Shooting a tube style now / Aimpoint Comp. I have tried shooting the 'hud'(C-more) many years ago and I had problem locating the dot. I guess I did not try hard enough and also not given sufficient time to it. I have shortlisted down to two types of 'hud' which I like namely OKO & OMNI. Don't ask me why I did not include C-more. Nothing really just do not like it. The OMNI is heavier but you can change the dot size on the spot. It has a 33mm lens. It has all the good features but still is not very popular. Wonder why????? The OKO is the lightest and shortest even lighter and shorter than the C-more. It has a smaller lens / 26mm. OKO & OMNI are parallex-free. C-more lens is 28mm. The pros and the cons, brightness and the reliability aspect of it. I find that under the sun the 'hud' is harder to see as the dot seems to wash away.
  4. Shred, What do you mean when you said that 'the difference is huge & obvious when switching between them'. Do you mean that by swithing to a C-more there is a huge difference. So which is better?
  5. I am still using the first generation Comp which I bought in 1993/94. I started using this scope again early this year after a lapse of 6 years which I stopped shooting. I have no problem with it except that the lens are a bit scratched (is my fault really) and it looks like it has some dust accumulated inside the scope. Apart from that it works all the time. I am using three A-76/LR-44 batteries. The only complain is that the batteries do not last very long. They should last longer than a Tasco or equuivalent. Aimpoint has just launched a 7moa CompC which would be ideal for Practical shooting compared to 4moa. Since we are on the scope topic, has anyone try the Omnisight by Nowlin/Schuey? Always wanted to try a 'hud' type to see if there are any advantages over the tube type.
  6. I have this Rescomp extended battery cap as well and frankly it does not make any difference whatsoever to the brightness of the dot. I am still using the original cap and I am happy with it
  7. The above mentioned topic has appeared in this forum before and I cannot remember when. Anyway just want to find out from you guys who have their guns fitted with 'accurail'. Claims that the cycling of the gun is more consistent and gives the gun a solid one piece feel with the rail fitted. 1/ I remember reading it in the forum that it does break quite easily. 2/ When it does break do you need to ship it back to them to replace the rail? Or get prefitted spare rails and replace it yourself. 3/ If you have gun that has two topends is it advisable to have this rail fitted? 4/ Is going for around $215.00 per gun. Certainly not cheap at all but does it get the job done as claimed???
  8. The new Arreredondo holster. Looks neat on picture and any good?
  9. Helping a fellow shooter to find a good mount for Aimpoint Comp to fit his Glock-34. Any suggestions and thank you in advance????

  11. Brian H, I always like to shoot with the lightest spring possible. When I was shooting the 1911 comp gun with a lighten slide, I used a Wolff 5lb. variable spring. We are shooting 9X19 factory load /115gr. fmj. The feel is very subjective and if you ask me. I find that the felt recoil is lesser with the light spring and is so much easier to rack the slide. On my limited-class topend also in 9X19, I tried with the 6lb but it does not work very well. I encountered feeding problem every now and then. Tried 7lb and is OK. On my open-class topend I used a 6lb and it works fine maybe because of the fact that my slide is lighten.
  12. Would like to know what sort of poundage do you use on your EA/P9 long-slide open-class gun shooting 124gr in 9X21 major. Do you need to change the recoil-spring poundage if you shoot 124 or 130gr? You can use the original Tanfoglio recoil-spring, EGW world-class recoil-spring and the Wolff ones. The Wolff recoil-spring ratings are 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,16,18&20lb. For my EA long-slide 9X19(minor)open-class gun,I am using a Wolff 6lb. recoil-spring and it works very well and I like the feel. I only shoot factory ammo / 115gr fmj.
  13. Looking for an after market match barrel & comp for G.17. What is good and where to contact these people? Also after market scopemount for C-more, what is good.
  14. Friend of mine thinking of going the hi-cap route but due to budget constraint can't afford a STI. He is thinking of getting a complete std. Para gun in 9X19 and have it fitted with a bushing match barrel and compensator to the slide. We are in Malaysia and he would need to get a gunsmith who is set-up for export. As for the rest of the bells & whistle we can do it here in Malaysia. We did think of Caspian but there do not come in complete gun only bits & pieces.
  15. If I do not use Carter spray then what is the next best alternative to clean the comp chamber? The usual way of scraping out the lead from chamber using a tool. Arredondo comp tool will do?
  16. Where can I get this 'Carter spray' from? Name & contact nos., (Fax) & e-mail. Thank you.
  17. To remove those fouling residue inside the comp chamber, you would need to scrap those thing out. Heard that with this'Carter's comp spray'no more scraping is needed. Would like to hear from you guys who have used it or there maybe a better way to remove those residue. I am shooting factory ammo so is mainly copper fouling but I think is all the same.
  18. What is the 'A' grip? This is something new to me and where can I get it? Manufacturer's contact no or e-mail? Thank you.
  19. I have not seen STI or SV in 9X21, Caspian yes. What do you think of building a 9X21 in the above mentioned frame? With the 9X21, I can also shoot 9X19 using one frame and two complete topends. At the moment my EA-9 has 3 complete topends in:- 1/ 9X21 /open-class (Nowlin bbl with EGW 4 port comp.) 2/ 9X19 /open-class (WCPI bbl with EGW 4 port comp.) 3/ 9X19 /limited-class (Briley bbl) Had a bit of extraction problem with the Briley bbl and I managed to solve the problem by opening up the chamber a little bit and is OK Beauty is I use the same magazines. All I need is to change to a heavier recoil-spring for 9X21. Do you think I can get the same set-up with a STI or SV?
  20. Today I shot groupings at 25 metres and the groupings were about 1" above the point of aim which is the center 'A. Proceed to 10 metres and the groupings were dead center. Will stick to that and do not want to fiddle with it anymore. Red 'Locktite' works as the mount is dead solid. I wonder how am I going to remove it the nextime? Thanks for all the feedback.
  21. Went to the range yesterday to verify the sight. This time I deliberately shot groupings at 7 metres or so. I could get grouping like 3 shots in one hole. After that went to 25 metres and shot it. OK this time no problem is all in the 'A'zone and I do not have to deliberately aim low or high to get 'A' hits. Also found that the mount screws came loose again or on the verge of getting loose. This must be the fourth time the screws came loose. I was using the 'blue' & 'pink' Locktite then. Removed the screws, cleaned up the screw holes and screws with 'degreaser'. Applied the 'red' locktite which I think is near permanent and see how it goes. Thank you guys!!!!!
  22. I am trying to source some good quality 9X21 virgin brass for reloading to 9X21 major load. Can anybody provide some tips as to where to source from as 9X21 is no longer a popular cal for IPSC? With the p.f. lowered to 165 I think it will be easier on the gun and also to reload to make major safely without pushing it to the limit. Any suggestions as to what bullet grain to use:- 124, 130, 135 and so forth.
  23. I am shooting a EAA competiton frame with longslide and a EGW 4 port comp. The rear arch of the frame was flatten and rechecquered so it makes the grip really small and feels good. I do not have any problem with this gun reliability wise and in fact I would go as far as saying that it is more reliable than a 1911 in 9mm cal. I have only changed the slide-stop twice as it bent. By the way these are old slide stop which I have many years back as spare and probably made from different material. The only thing is that the 1911 has a shorter trigger reset than the EAA.
  24. I for one totally support the idea of making 9X19 a legal major cal in IPSC. Again due to very strict gun law in Malaysia and I can't remember how many times I have said this in this forum. It helps us who own one gun and be able to shoot minor & major load. Also it is easier to build a single caliber gun
  25. I went to the range again yesterday after having tighten the screws which came loose on Sunday to verify the sighting-in. This time I sighted-in at 10 metres and got dead-center hits using a bench-rest. Tried at 25 metres and I have to shoot at the bottom half of the 'A' zone or somewhere between the 'A' & 'C' zone to get center hits. Within 10 metres I just place the dot on the target and you get center hits and as you move further away I have to aim slightly low to get center hits.
