  1. I can understand the point of veiw that the rmfiels is getting at, there are a lot of people saying what should be done, me included, and not enough people willing to actually do it. 8000 miles in my way for a start. BUT.......!!! Lets look for a second at how much it cost to even take part ina basic 3 gun match, there is : Pistol Rifle Shotgun all the ammo for all 3 platforms all the belt kit, practice time and ammo, gas, food, in some cases accomodation even flights in some cases time off work, for the self employed among us, and then of course match entry........ Match enrty cost is just a tiny part of the overall, cost of playing this game. to be honest, i think it plays very little part in the way people choose which matrches to shoot and which to not attend. it is all about Reputation. we think nothing of spending THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS !!!!! on the the kit to play this game, but moan at having to pay, an extra $100/$150 even $200 dollars to actually take part. in the best match of the YEAR!!!!! Putting the match enrty up would not make it elitist in the slightest.!!!! it just makes for a better well managed match that tests the shooters abilities. make it cheaper for juniors and seniors, the rest of us should suck it up and play our game with the big boys as best as we can. It should be first come first served, with prority to juniors, seniors and members of the home club. If you havnt got your S**T together, then thats just to bad...sorry. No other match on the planet as far as i know has a "lottery system" for picking entries. its obserd!! Rant off Kindest regards Ian.
  2. Hello all. If i put anyones back up or nose out of joint, then i appoligise in advance....Prepare for a rant....!!!!!!!! This is by far the dumbest thing i have ever heard off, lottery entry for a match...WTF!!??!! I am a big fan of this match, i think probably the best 3 gun match of the year, but a number of this are wrong with the lottery idea. 1) What about groups, if only half my group of guys get in then the whole lot will probably wont bother. 2) What about international shooters??? i am am one of about 8 or 9 Shooters from the UK that love to attend this match, we have to book flights, hotels, vaction time, and things quite a while in advance. Not finding out till mid january is asking a bit much. What about all the big names and pro shooters, if say Burkett, Butler, and Miller dont get in. This can only do the comp harm, as i think i helps draw in the crowds, and the sponsers. Here is my solution, if it is so over subscribed, put the price up, to Help pay for more range crew to run the comp over a longer period of time, say 5 days. and to cover the cost or hiring the range itself. Or split the comp run it over 2 week ends instead of one....... There are so many better ideas, i could go on for ages, than doing a lottery draw. It probably is the fairest, but still sucks.!?!?!? I think the match will only suffer in the long run. But i bet it will still fill up. This comps problem is that it is to good!!!! The people in charge need to recognise this and instead of limiting it and having alot of disapointed shooters, EXPAND make it even bigger and better. THINK BIG!! If that is the way this comp seems to naturally want to go then let it. Make it the PREMIER Match of the year, that no one can afford to miss... Lottery = Dumb More slots, bigger prise table, more people....= Good Just my 2 cents. Feel free to slate me if you want, but thats the way i seen it. Ian London,UK And yes my spelling is crap.lol
  3. thanks guys, very informative. Am i right in saying that a Glock 17 would not allowed to be used then because the mags take 15 as standard. either ways its a good excusse to go buy a few more guns.
  4. Hi all, Would like to get into IDPA, just for a bit of a change. But what are all the classes/divisions? whats all this ESP and CDP what is that all about, and does each class have different holster rules.???Do you have to wear something that covers the gun the hole time.?? any help or links, greatfully received.
  5. They are actually pre stretched when made. Literally they were coming off marks machine, me stuffing empty mags in them, for about 30 mins, than package them up. I hope to be back in the states in the not to distant future, on a more permermant basis, so am looking forward to help Mark with alot of R & D on new stuff, generally giving him a helping hand. Small business, top notch products, and i dont care what any one says, top quality customer service. Glad your pleased with the pouches. Any question, just email mark. Happy shooting.
  6. i have actually worked with mark, and the trick to get the mags to fit is to just leave the mags in over night, or if need be a couple of days, they will soon mould and stretch to the shape of the mag. they wont ever get loose, the foam he uses, has a memory, so if you leave the mag out for a while they will start to get tighter again. this same principle goes for all his gear. hope this helps 3 - gun gear rocks!!!!
  7. Ive got a 1750,and i can get 3, 30 inch barreled shotguns in mine. lid layer of foam holds the barrels and mag tubes. middle layer holds 2 of the recievers, and the bottom layer holds the last reciever. also put a thin layer of bubble wrap between each layer for good measure.
  8. This may sound like a silly question, but why not just use a beta mag when the round count is high on a stage for rifle??? Why not spend some money on a good beta mag, if such a thing exsists??? lol use the 30s normally, and if ya think that your guna have to reload, then slap on the beta mag.??? I dont get it. why frig around with a 40 or 45 rounder??? Is it a rules thing???
  9. I attended last years RM3G, great match. I dont know if this means anything, but i found that on the stages where i was last, or near the bottom of the shooting order, that i seemed to feel worse when i it was my turn to shoot. The waiting just seemed to drain me completely, and just fog over my stage planning. So volunteer to be 2nd on every stage. thats wahat i would do if i was going again. apart from that just work on your cardio as much as you can, and breathing exersices. The easier it is for your body to deal with the exsertion, the more you will be able to consentrate on the task at hand. Oh and drink LOTS of fluid, I mean LOTS.
  10. Thanks. But i dont think i have microsoft money, unless it is built in to windows. are there any web sites that cover this that you know of.??
  11. Hi i know its not shooting related, but i would like to start playing with stocks and shares and stuff. Can anyone recommend a web site, that allows you to practice and have an imaginary portfolio, ideally for free. were you can see how much you would have made/lost if you had really done it. Any help would be greatly received. A search on google came up with not alot.
  12. "1911 single stack in 45. It runs, can compete with it, conceal it, buy ammo for it and the concussion will make most bad guys wet their pants and leave. If they don't, it will stop them." +100 Enough power to stop any human....loud enough to make any human or animal think twice about doing what they where about to do.....in commander length in can be carried with ease, and being single stack its nice and slim to. and you can get parts free with your packet of cornflakes they are so prolific.........It never let Segal down?!? Only Chuck Norris carries a revolver. nuf said. so yeah for me ita a 45.acp
  13. Neil, Try www.TRUGLO.com. They defintly ship out side US, i have had a couple of things from them. i have experimented with all sorts of FO sights, and found that The 'HiViz; ones to be the best www.hiviz.com??? Or maybe, www.LApolicegear.com Might have somthing.?? You might just have to pay the price on brownells and be done with it. Its not as it you will wear it out !?! Good luck.
  14. I think what mike.45 means is not a pistol grip on its own, but a normal stock that incorarates a pistol grip....? Like a standard stock for an AR-15??? if you look at mikes picture on his profile, like that.!?!
  15. Plumber,/ gas engineer/ Hvac technician/ run own firm, so i do everything one man band style. Oh ...and i live to shoot.!!!
  16. Sorry matt... my bad.... i figured it out.... For some reason i could log in and the home page and it would have no effect on gaining access to the rest of the site, ie the fun stuff and such, that i mentioned before... However if i then log in again at the forum page, all is ok and i can get into everything. Is that how it is supose to work ??? I just figure the home log in bit, is the bit that isnt quite working right. either way im happy. cool site !!! i will pm you my number. and by the way what is SKYPE???
  17. great looking site matt, congrats... but i found that even when i have logged in, some of the links didnt work?... the drop down menu that has Matts gear, fun stuff, and all that. doesnt seem to work. just tells me i need to login to gain accsess to it....but i am already logged in.??
  18. "comes to a stop somewhere between the oil soaked rags and some scrap 2 X's, ya know where the big fury spider lives." Blow lamp....... trumps big hairy spider every time. Blow lamp: Used to/or in the aid of unwanted body hair....normaly the eye brows.
  19. Golds Rule!!!!..............Others just drool... I came 4th WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO.
  20. "Taking The Micky" Defintion: To take the P**s, mock, make fun of, have a laugh at. You can never have too much ammo. I am living proof that no one misses faster than i do.
  21. Ok, so here in england the only real practical shooting is shotgun based. Im not to bad at it, and can hold my own with the big boys, normally finishing in the top 6-10 in limited semi auto. I have the privilige of shooting with british champions in this class. Most people in this class know my face and what i shoot. So what really P***es me off is when some one who doesnt even know me, i have never even met, make comments about how much ammo i carry on me for each stage. Just because i have ear defenders on doesnt mean i carnt hear them clear as day. They are electronic ones after all. I dont care if it is just an 8 round speed shoot.. My belt will be full, ...24 rounds... and my chest rig will be full 24 rounds again....and that is how i will go into every stage. It actually started to make me feel a little bit self consious at a competion yesterday. and put me off a little bit. So if you know me personally, and we have have a laugh and shoot at the same level.. fair enough.. not a problem at all. But you want to comment on my shooting or the amount of ammo i carry, either ask me out right , and come shoot in my division, Or keep your comments to your self and conentrate on your own shooting. Just because somoene does something different to the rest of the crowd doesnt give anyone the right to critisise it. Especially if it gets them good results. Rant mode off. I'm sure others have experenced simmilar stuff.
  22. Why thank you mike, having said all that mine will probably got tits up tomorrow, i better bring 2 guns.. See ya tomorrow mate.
  23. I really dont see why everyone is having such a problem with them. I have a 3 inch hunter, 26 inch barrel, briley extension tube, and spring. i have put thounds of rounds throuh it (about 10,000) and the only problems have been me. Ie: using ammo that is too short to make the auto load feature work properly, and letting it get a little bit to dirty.... Never use ammo that is less than 67mm long it simply wont work. (in my experience) After you have shot it, detail strip the whole thing and get everything spotless again, especially the mag tube and piston. make sue the ports are clean and clear. I get a build up of really hard crap between the 2 gas ports than can cause a problem that has to be dremeled out every 400 rounds or so. (probably an ammo issue though) As for slug, well personally i hate shooting slug, so i try to avoid it like the plague. But from what i have shot, the S&B 1 ounce loads are probably the best i have had (reliabillity wise) when it did fail it was always a feed problem, normally the crimp/roll on the case caused a hang up. if youhave a 3.5 gun, why not try a 3.5 magnum slug??? do they do such a thing?? also the winchester Super X seem to work ok. perhaps hand cycle your slugs fast and pick out the ones that dont feed??? Also if the gun is brand spanking new maybe it just needs to be shot in?? i think we do ask quite a bit of these guns to do what we do with them, and it might take a while for all the tolerances to work them selves out? (espesially if you have had it refinished like a couple i have seen.) Apart from that, find a brand of bird shot of sise and weight that you like and stick to it!!! This way you know that if it stops working next time, its the gun and not the ammo that is the issue. Just my 2 cents Mike .45 probably has/will tell you much the same. But in the end if jerry carnt fix it, and mike carnt fix it. well..........flog it, and buy a benneli.
  24. so apart from Tromix are there any other companies doing devilish things to saigas' or are they all home brewed...?
  25. This maybe a silly question, but in 3 gun, shooting in tac scope, would using a saiga bump you out of this class?? in to open, due to the detachable magazine??
