  1. Thanks for the reply, the mag release is a concern for me. I'm missing 1/2" of right thumb most reloads are a little awkward anyway. I was looking to get slimmer grips anyhow so this may not be as big an issue I'm making it out to be.
  2. Hello all, my question is two fold. Can I use the same 1911 in single stack as well as cdp? If so are there any gear conflicts? I would like to try Uspsa. It looks like a lot of fun.
  3. What was your "something else" if you don't mind me asking?
  4. Thanks for your replies. I'm going to go with an RO. I think for a budget gun it will work for me. Although I did come across a post on here that was about a high round count RO and what the owner had to do to keep it running. I'm going to spend the money, just can't do it all at once.
  5. I've decided to pick up a 1911, I have one now but nothing that I would use for competition. I have an $800.00 budget. The Range Officer looked like a good starting point. I like dark colored pistols (personal thing) although stainless is ok but would eventually cerokote. This is not a Carry gun. this is for CDP in IDPA. What are your thoughts? Please remember I have a budget. Thanks Chuck
  6. Hello and Happy Thanksgiving I've have found absolutely nothing so far that will no feed. My particular pistol eats everything so far. My pistol is a late production 4.5" .45 XDM. I'm using 6 new magazines and only 1 will not lock the slide back. The gun received a thorough cleaning when i started and has not been cleaned since. There is 1750 rnds when i stopped shooting the various test rnds. I ran it like I stole it that way if it gets fickle then I know what the limits are. Acme 200g lswc set to 1.240" Acme 185g lswc set to 1.180" I shot all of these and my notes are not clear on this bullet. I don't think this col is right Hrdy 230g lrn set to 1.200" Hrdy 200g xtp set to 1.213" Ber 200g swc plt set to 1.180" I used the recommended col and theses seemed to be short but worked. Ber 185g hbrn plt set to 1.25" these flew most accurately with 7gn PP GDHP 230g set to 1.200" Golden Sabre 230g set to 1.210" There was not a single malfunction with any of these rounds....none! I've not experimented with col too much, just stayed at recommended lengths. I used Bulleye on everything except the Berry's which I used PP. I'll try to get some truncated bullets and anything odd that comes along.
  7. Thats her choice ( lesson learned long ago ). It was apparently comfortable in her hand so that she was banging plates. I have a XDM 4.5" .45 and love the gun.
  8. What your seeing is normal. There are two impacts that happen when the slide is released. 1; The moment of inertia when the slide impacts the head of the brass as its being stripped from the mag. Like being in a fast car and being pressed into the seat on acceleration but only more violent. 2; The collision of the bullet hitting the feed ramp. Your not going to get away from it.
  9. Well I'm on my feet again. What a trip they're not sure what caused it. I don't drink that much, nor do I smoke. Although stress is a real big prospect. They did a a TEE to check for clots in the Heart. Its good they didn't find any. Then they defibrillated me. I've got two burn marks and a shaved chest for my trouble. I need to chill out and just shoot more ammo. Thanks for the input
  10. Hello Has anyone else had or have this? Spent the night in the Hospital got out today. I'm curious as to how many of you have had this? Thanks for reading.
  11. I bought a bunch of Berry's 230 gr rn and work up a good load for that. I'm such a brass scrounge, spent way too much time picking up brass today than shooting it. Thanks again for replying I was able to gain some very good knowledge.
  12. Thanks again for all of your info. Shooting .45 on a wholesale basis is new for me. I couldn't shoot my P220 very well because I'm missing about 1/2 inch of my right thumb ( damn table saw). It seems that the XDM fits a lot better in the hand and no de-cocker. Was going to try some swc's. Been piecing together Primers and Brass.
  13. Tires2burn which gun? I've never loaded swc's so I'm curious and want to learn
  14. Hello I believe this is my 2nd post. I acquired an XDM .45 and was wondering if anyone has found a bullet that doesn't feed well with this gun? I have some plated 230 RN and Hornady Hp's but no other more conical shaped bullets. I'd prefer to not waste money. Thanks in advance for reading.
  15. Thank you for the lead, they're close to were I live and didn't know they were there.
  16. Good evening everyone. I like to compete in IDPA and Speed Steel other than that I run small business in the great NW.
