It seems a lot of sights designed for action shooting have a wide notch (.150") on the the rear sight.
Anyone prefer a more narrow notch?

I ended up with CR speed pouches.
I thought CR Speeds were not legal for IDPA?
-
I have shot 4 USPSA matches now, and I'm still trying to fully understand the scoring, hit factor, penalties, high hit factor stage etc. IDPA scoring is much easier to understand.
In two of my USPSA matches - I beat another shooter in my division, but he beat me in the overall scores. I still don't understand that.
Shooting Production with Minor scoring: When do you make up a shot? When do you not?
Obviously you want to shoot only Alphas as fast as you can, but that doesn't always happen.
I know that if you miss or hit a no-shoot, you need to make up that shot because of the miss penalty and shoot-throughs do not count (unlike IDPA).
If you shoot 2 Charlies, it it worth taking an extra shot or two for Alphas?
-
What mag pouches that are Production and IDPA legal, do you guys think are the best?
-
Scripted compared to USPSA? No question. Scripted to eliminate all flexibility? Not even close, in my experience.
I agree. Its a good thing that IDPA is scripted. It makes it easier on everyone to avoid PEs.

What was happening? Not going into battery?I just installed a KKM barrel in a Glock 35. I had to make a minor adjustment to the feed ramp base pad by removing .003. This was so the barrel would clear the locking block when you put the slide on the frame. Seems I have somewhat of a high locking block on this gun.

KKM Barrels
in Glock
I'm picking up a used Glock 19 this weekend and it's coming with the stock and a KKM barrel. I'll do some back-to-back testing with the two and see how they compare.
Nice - shoot out to 25 yards if you can
-
Yeah, we have a new version too. Raised up the rear a bit, so POA is a bit better.
How tall is the rear sight now?

KKM Barrels

Everyone who has a KKM barrel: Did you test your new point of impact? How did your POI change compared to stock?

Anyone have any ideas why 2 different brands of 115gr shoot 6" left, while 147gr is mostly straight?
Possibly a bad locking block?
-
Are you aiming center of mass?
This is how I was aiming:

I'll test again, but this time:
1. Try the mag supported by a sandbag
2. Try wrists supported by a sandbag, gun not touching anything
3. Try different types of ammo
The mystery continues...
Went to the range today and tried the different methods, and different ammo. Here is what I found:
1. Different bench rest methods did not make much of a difference for me
2. 115gr ammo shoots about 6" left
3. Match grade slide lock did not make much difference
First I shot the AAA 147gr ammo using the different bench methods. Bottom row is stock barrel, top row is KKM. Left side is wrist support by sandbags, gun touching nothing. Right side is magazine supported by the sandbags. I take slow shots, trying to push the trigger directly to the rear and let the shot be a surprise (8" targets):
Then I did the same 4-target test with 115gr ammo by AAA, and 115gr ammo by Winchester White Box. I won't bother posting the image, as I had to determine POI - which was 6" left with both brands ammo and both methods of bench rest. I made adjustments by aiming far right to see POI.
Next I tried T.R. Graham's Match Grade Slide Lock with the AAA 147gr ammo. This slide lock has a groove about half the size of stock, supposedly to help the barrel lock up tighter. Stock on bottom, MGSL on top:
Results: Not much improvement that I can see:
I'm not sure what I should try next. This is getting expensive!

Well, what is the proper procedure for supporting a glock?
Being polymer framed it can be weird, it messed with me at first too. Glocks aren't precision machinced works of art...they run. I usually do my group/zero practice from supported freestyle, i.e. the mag is resting on the bench. Over the years it gives me the best groups.
I'll test again, but this time:
1. Try the mag supported by a sandbag
2. Try wrists supported by a sandbag, gun not touching anything
3. Try different types of ammo

25yds off a Caldwell rest with dust cover/mag supported. Might explain the flyers!
So you shot dust cover & mag supported like this? (minus the tea-cupping)
-
On your bench rest, how is the gun supported?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
I'm seated at the bench, shooting the gun with my normal grip and the barrel is supported by the rest.

Which guiderod are you using?
Jager stainless steel.

This is the only slide lock I've ever used and it's pretty tight.
ZEV makes one that's prolly better.
Has this gun always shot so poorly?
I shoot mainly SSP, so the slide lock can't be extended.
I have only shot out to 25 yards to find the correct front sight height and POA/POI for the AAA 147gr. I didn't pay attention to the groups.
This was about 3 weeks ago when I was checking rear sight alignment (moved it slightly left after this):
-
Maybe you cleaned it and put this in backwards?
It looks like your shooting with your eyes closed.. lol just messin with ya.
Ahhhh... ya got me!
-
The barrel isn't the problem here. A better barrel won't make you a better shooter. Once you learn to do your part, a KKM will be more accurate.
This was from a bench rest at 25 yards, while taking slow shots. I was making sure to have smooth trigger presses without disturbing the sight picture. I'm SSP & ESP Expert, so I don't think my technique is horrible. I think this is an ammo or barrel lockup issue.
-
I hate to sound critical but both of those groups are too large. You may want to consider reshooting those groups with some other ammo.
Good idea. I shoot the AAA for matches though, so hopefully I can find a way to make this work.
-
If that is the best your kkm would do then there is another issue. At 25yrds those should be much much tighter even with a glock barrel. I will try to get some pics up this weekend.
Is your glock new?
No, I've had it for about 6 months. I was shooting a Gen4 17 before that.
-
Is the KKM drop in? Or was it gunsmith fit?
Drop-in.
-
I'm thinking this could be a slide lock issue? Maybe the KKM has a tighter channel for the slide lock and isn't locking up right on this guy:
Atlanta Arms & Ammo Alternatives
in General Reloading
Posted
I want to get into reloading soon, but in the meantime I have been shooting Atlanta Arms & Ammo 9mm 147gr 130pf.
It has been very reliable for me, but I'm paying about 35¢ a round for it.
Are there any other companies that offer competition / match ammo that is loaded to minor & major?
