I plan on get a Dillon 550, and will be using it for my G34 and G35 (minor & major).
Since all of my brass will be "glocked" - should I buy non-Dillon dies like the Lee 4-Die Deluxe Set with Carbide Factory Crimp Die?
Or buy Dillon Dies and also a EGW Undersize Die?
What is the best plan for my dollar?

Harbor Freight 'hardwood' workbench, $140 with 20% off coupon: http://www.harborfreight.com/workbench-with-4-drawers-60-hardwood-69054.html
The hardwood is more like engineered flooring or plywood, lapped together, but not at all bad, most parts are indeed wood vs MDF or other. Glued it and screwed it.
After the last bench was way too flimsy/flexible, I ensured I mounted it directly above the right side leg, vs more outside, and reinforced a bit with plywood. May not have needed it, but wanted to minimize flex as I'm not attaching to the wall inside the house.. slightly annoying side effect is I'll have to trim the right hand side drawers to get them to open fully, or move to a strong-arm/raised platform for the press, but overall, not a bad deal at all for the $.
I use the same bench and so far it's been great!
I bought the same Harbor Freight workbench. I have it inside in my office, which has medium height carpet. We are renting this house, so I'm not sure if I want to drill into the wall to secure the bench.
Anyone have suggestions on how to make the bench sturdy as possible, without a bracket to the wall?

I'm also looking for load data for a Glock 34, Xtreme 147gr RN and Win 231 to make about 130 PF.
I found this:
Adding my load data from Glock 34 on a 40F day:
147gr Plated RN @ 1.165" OAL.
3.5gr W231, HI 897fps, LO 876fps, 10rd AV 890fps, PF 131.
3.7gr W231, HI 945fps, LO 917fps, 10rd AV 930fps, PF 137.
3.9gr W231, HI 981fps, LO 933fps, 10rd AV 955fps, PF 140. -
Anyone use a 13lb Recoil Spring for G35?
What spring works best for Major?
-
Anyone use their G35 for Major & Minor?
I have Sevigny Competition sights (.250" rear), and was wondering - what front sight height works best at 25 yards?
How much higher or lower will my POI be if I switch from Major to Minor (180gr) at 25 yards?
-
For 147gr round nose, what OAL range works well with a Glock 34?
-
I want to start slowly buying all the equipment I will need for reloading 9mm and eventually .40cal. I plan on saving up and buying my press towards the end.
I don't have a huge budget so I don't need things like a $180 scale. I like getting the best bang for the buck, but I'm willing to spend extra money if its worth it.
What are some good deals out there for beginners?
Does anyone offer a decent package?
I'm looking for:
Powder, primers, tumbler, media, calipers, scale etc. -
Can using the wrong backstrap lead to poor accuracy?
-
I have one of Johnny's Competition level triggers, and I can agree with everything Revan posted. You can really see and feel the additional stoning and polishing that Johnny does on his triggers.

What is the best way to choose a back-strap on a Gen4?
Both the medium and no backstrap "feel" good in my hand.
-
Same for me. Just wish they offered the heavy plug for it like they do for the gen 3.
What about the Zev Magwells? Looks like they have heavy plugs for Gen4s if you don't use a backstrap.
How heavy can you go while still being under the 43oz limit for ESP?
-
Practically, in minor scoring in Production, it is usually worthwhile to make up a D or miss, and not worth it to make up a C unless it was thrown on a close in target where you can break the make up shot instantly with a high probability of an A, and this on a low HF stage where loss of points may mean more.
Thanks. Great explanations guys.

Which Magwell do you recommend on a Gen4 G35 that is legal for ESP & Limited?

I think I found the problem...
Went back to the range today and tested again with the AAA 147gr and new .130" rear sight:
Stock barrel, still random:
More Stock barrel, still random:
Switched out the Locking Block and Slide Lock:
I noticed that when I installed the new Locking Block, the pins were much tighter going in. -
BTW: the grips is the first two posts are quite different. The first one is more "underneath" support and the second image looks more like a guide wire on a TV mast.... I would think the first one would be easier to keep balanced.
The first one is not an image, but an entire video. Jerry doesn't talk about the finger in front of the trigger guard grip until the 11:28 mark.
-
Anyone shoot with their support index finger in front of the trigger guard?
Jerry Miculek recommends doing it at the 11:28 mark:

I found mine are too small. I ordered a 10, but these fit more like a 9. Anyone want them? PM me.
They are new (only tried them on) and still have the tags:
-
Look at your front sight instead of the targets
-
Anyone else find they don't like reduced overtravel?
I find that my second shot on a double-tap is considerably low & left, due to the trigger pull ending sooner. My double-taps were not like that before the OT stop.
-
It doesn't say what ammo you used for the KKM Barrel ?
AAA 147gr. This is the ammo I use for matches (for now) - so this is the ammo I need to work well.
-
I still find myself looking at the target and seeing the "ghost image" of my sights.
What are some good drills that will help me focus on the front sight and learn to track it?
-
Where were you holding the sights at on the 6 oclock? At the bottom of the solid orange ring or the bottom of the solid white in the middle? Or was it at the bottom of the entire target? Looks like a 1" group (minus the flyer)!
At the bottom of the orange. Same thing with the black shoot-n-c targets. I was surprised when I walked up to the target and saw the tight group. I couldn't tell where they hit from 25 yards, like I can with the shoot-n-c.
It still bugs me that the stock barrel is so sporadic. I am going to change out the slide lock, slide lock spring, locking block and test again. There is another thread I came across during my research on the problem that said when guns are sent into Glock for accuracy problems - the first thing they do is replace the locking block.
-
My Aliexpress shoes came in, and they are very similar to my $120 Salomons. I haven't worn them yet, but the only difference I can tell so far is the sole is slightly stiffer.

Testing Part 3:
Went to the range today to test out the 6 o'clock hold and this Pistolero rest by Caldwell. All shots were taken using this:
Shot the stock barrel first with the & AAA 147gr ammo at 25 yards on a 12" target (red part is 6"). Still all over the place:
Circled my hits and put the KKM barrel in. I knew the KKM was hitting high before, so I used a 6 o'clock hold for the next 5 shots.
For the people saying "its the Indian, not the arrow" etc. One flyer, but pretty good group at 25 yards if you ask me:
More KKM with a 6 o'clock hold (6" target):
The stock barrel was hitting low with a 6 o'clock hold (as you can see above) and not grouping well.
I still plan on having someone else shoot my G34 at 25 yards to take myself out of the equation. I also plan on replacing parts to rule them out: slide lock, slide lock spring, locking block etc.
Newbie Help - Accurate #7 and 147gr
in 9mm/38 Caliber
Posted · Edited by ES13Raven
I'm just getting into reloading, so I took a reloading class.
My final 100 rounds ended up like this:
147gr X-treme bullet
1.166-1.170 OAL
6.3gr Accurate #7
CCI Primers
All rounds were made on a Lee Loadmaster.
We set the OAL shorter than this, but somehow they came out longer. I dry-cycled about 20 rounds through the mags/gun and didn't have any issues.
I have a few questions before I fire these.
1. Is having an OAL that long bad?
2. What fps should this load produce from a Glock 34?
3. Should I wait till I get all my equipment and shorten the OAL before I fire them?
Thanks
