  1. I've read about setback problems, but have not experienced any yet. I'm just wondering how often it happens with 9mm compared to other calibers?

Does it happen more with coated / lead bullets?

Is it good "preventative maintenance" to use a U-die?

  2. You may want to further test your magazine well with fresh factory magazines and if the problem persists, then adjust your magwell instead of sanding down every mag you come across.

That's exactly what I did by sanding the inside of the magwell. All mags drop freely now.

  3. I read something on here about locking blocks being an issue ion some glocks... Search for that thread... Hopefully this is your issue.

It was an issue for me. I replaced the locking block and noticed the pins were much tighter and accuracy improved.

Also, make sure you are pressing the trigger straight and all the way to the rear (good follow-through) and use your reset.

    PF = 134

  9. I'm new to this but for what it is worth 3.1 gr with a little shorter OAL averaged 870 for me yesterday. I was pushing a 147 MG out of a G34 with stock barrel. 73 degrees.

    How temperature sensitive is Titegroup?

  10. I hope this explains it better.

Yes. I was not testing groups yet - just velocity. I usually test groups and adjust my sights for POA/POI at 25 yards. I plan on doing that after I get the load correct.

  11. If you mean creep up over the course of the session then I suggest you consider the uniquetek micrometer powder drop. Sure it is REALLY a neat tool if you load multiple loads but what I found is it is so tight when adjusting that it stays put throughout even the longest loading sessions.

Thanks for posting about Uniquetek. I didn't know about them. They make a lot of good accessories for the Dillon, and I ordered a few today.

  12. you will get more accurate results if you test your groups

    at 15 - 25 yds

    i do 15 - 20 i can't see 25yds.

Do you mean chrono the rounds at 15-25 yards? I chose 10 feet because I shoot IDPA Sanctioned Matches and that is the distance the rules say to use.

  13. I setup a new 550 this weekend and one of the things I noticed is mine tends to creep up in charge weight. I was loading 3.5g of e3 and would periodically check weights. Several times it would through 3.5 as expected but sometimes I'd see a 3.7 in there. When that happened I'd adjust the powder drop and continue. I wonder if you were experiencing the same sort of thing with yours? I've only used mine with e3 so far.

I will check it again tonight, but it was consistent when I weighed 10 powder dumps right before I made these 15 rounds.

  14. I just got a new 550b and after setting all my dies and testing - I made my first batch of 9mm:

    147gr Xtreme bullets

    1.145 - 1.150 OAL

    3.1 grains TiteGroup

    CCI Primers

    Glock 34 Gen4

I took them to the Range today and I saw much higher FPS than I was expecting with only 3.1 grains of Titegroup.

I shot from 10 feet away, using a Shooting Chrony F-1 with diffusers:

    Stock Barrel:

    932.8

    923.9

    933.5

    923.5

    916.2

    922.9

    KKM Barrel:

    915.1

    913.7

    908.3

    914.9

    895.3

    925.8

I was expecting more like 880 FPS. It was 107* today when I shot - is that why?

  15. 11 is really pushing it in a Glock. In my 34 it would come out of battery just by shaking the gun violently. Once it got dirty it was not nearly reliable enough. There is a reason many shooters run a 13!

I think you are fine as long as you are running a light striker spring as well. I'm running a 4# wolff striker spring, Zev extended striker and 11# ISMI spring on a Jager Gen4 steel guide rod. I haven't had any issues.

I was just curious if there are any other disadvantages like the slide beating up the frame, or anything else...

  16. As long as your Glock passes the "standard test" of vertical returning to battery with the trigger depressed, are there any disadvantages to running a lighter recoil spring?

For example, most shooters running a Glock 34 minor prefer a 13lb spring. Are there any disadvantageous to running an 11lb if the gun functions properly?
