I shoot one alot in steel challenge.  Have volquartsen carbon fiber barrel, TK trigger and hammer, with a c-more slide ride up top;     Also use the beehive grip.

FIring pin spring wears out about 2x a season.   I use CCI  standard velocity sub-sonic without issue.

    Nice looking rig.

Thanks for posting.  I appreciate the note on the firing pin spring.  How many rounds a year do you put through it?

  2. I am picking up a S&W Victory .22lr for static steel at a club level match.

    Anyone else have one?

    Do any work to it?

I'm adding a TandemKross trigger/mag release, and charging handle.  A barrel change may happen but it's not a done deal by any strecth.   A red dot is not too far in the future as my eyes suck.  I'm looking for grip options but am not loving any of those I've seen so far.  If anyone has anything beyond what Volquartsen does and the HIVE or Houge options, please let me know.

They make an adapter for handguns. I made one to hold it and rest the gun behind it. Just for when my regular chrono goes out

*This adapter is not compatible with some proprietary manufacturers' rails, or with Glock compact or sub-compact model pistols. Does not work with CZ models P-01, P-06, and 75D.

    As per MS

I've used Chrony's for decades to measure velocity of handguns - esp 9 mm,

and my results are very similar to chrono results at major matches.

I have a chrony.  Lower case.  I use the word chrony as short hand for chronograph.

Mine is a Magnetospeed.  Not a "Chrony" branded chronograph.  It does not work well on handguns.

Well, even strong self defense ammo only makes around 155ish power factor in my guns. But my major loads run 175 power factor. So, no your G19 is not going to live long if you start feeding it major PF ammo.

You said yourself you wanted something more snappy. 115’s are more snappy than 124’s even in minor ammo. As far as hitting steel harder, that means nothing. If it falls it’s good. It can be argued all day about what drops steel better, a slow heavy bullet or a faster light bullet. So there you go

    Thank you.  Much appreciated.

#1  you have no idea what velosity your current load is.

#2 G19 not ideal for major it will work for a while but.

    #3 you asked a yes/no question.

#4 there is more to loading major than just adding more powder.

What may be safe in one gun may make parts fly in another.

You have no idea what velosity your current load is .

So do you have a chrono?  Again there is more to loading major

         than just adding more powder.

I'm mostly a rifle shooter.  I'm just getting back in to handguns.  I have a solid understanding on what it takes to load "hot" loads.
I do have a chrony, unfortunately it doesn't work well on handguns (MagnetoSpeed).

Run some 115’s and load a tad hotter but I agree do not go to major PF

I prefer the 124's as they shoot really well and give a solid smack on steel but would really like to know why I should NOT load 9Major?  Is it simply unnecessary?  Too much wear on the gun?

Again, I'm mostly just thinking about trying it to try it.  But if y'all are saying no I would like to know why.

  8. I'm wondering if I should load 9Major.

I'm running a Glock 19/3 with a comp.  Gun is running well and I'm not having any issues with cycling.  I'm shooting club level matches with no one checking speed/bullet weight.  I think I'm mostly looking for something "funner" to shoot, with a little more snap.

    Current load:

    124gn RMR JHP

    5.2gn CFE Pistol

    Thoughts?

  9. I believe that Modern Materiel in NJ can/will build one.  There is a LE that takes a LOT of carbine classes that says he likes them and would trust one.  I believe that they are also one of the few companies listed on the AG letter as a manufacturer.
I don't have any affiliation with them or the LE.

  10. I use Varget under an 80gn Sierra for FT/R @600 yards.  I love it.  Works well and my load is good from mid-50's thru low to mid 80's.  Just a hair of elevation change.  I'm shooting it in a bolt gun with a 26" barrel.  I'm above max with no pressure.

Now that Varget is easier to find, it's all I use in my precision .223.

  11. I'm glad I found this thread.  I am just getting started shooting club level matches and am looking for a JHP at reasonable cost.  I found RMR but was unsure of the quality.  I feel a lot better about spending my hard to come by cash.  Will order a couple thousand in the next week or so.

I always like this one from the GlockStore. OEM but with extended pad. Never had any problems.

    Yup.

Sits closer to the frame than the Zev.

I have a bum right thumb so I actually kinda need the extended/paddle style releases offered.  I can make a standard release work but I have to significantly shift my grip to get it to work.  With a paddle style I can just drop them.  The extra leverage works well to my advantage.

  13. @broadus123 Cute pooch!

I use 242 most of the time.  I used a drop of red on a comp and it was a difficult piece to remove.  On comps, there is another product called Rockset that gets good press.  Won't break loose because of mild heat (from shooting) but will break loose with normal tools.  My buddy has been using it to good effect.

Dykem is actually a layout fluid and is not ideally suited for what you are thinking of doing.  Prussian Blue would be a much better choice.  You rub some onto only one surface of a mating pair.  When you slide the pair back and forth, the blue will transfer to the other surface at any contact points.  If you must use Dykem, apply the very thinnest of coats.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing but couldn't remember Prussian Blue.  I'm glad that there are those smarter than I on here.

I’m curious where the desire for a specific twist rate and a handfitted barrel for a 19 came from in the first place.

I'm a tinkerer.  Nothing nefarious.  I just like to putz around with stuff.
