  1. I am shooting my first USPSA match on Tuesday and they have one stage that is a combination of both hands, strong and weak hand only stage which has me a little intimidated but you have to start somewhere I suppose. I'm just hoping for no DQ!
  2. I had the same problem not too long ago. Here is the link I hope.... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=185900&page=1 Anyway, I had several concerns. That it would hold up and be a good fit for me but mostly a US made belt is a must for. That narrows the choices down a lot but I'm happy with my Volund gear works belt. I have one for carry/idpa and I had them make me a custom one for uspsa/3 gun which is a inner and outer system like DAA or CR Speed. I would recommend their Atlas belt, at least give it a look.
  3. Originally I bought a DSG belt and it's nice but I'm in between sizes which is a pain. I recently bought a two Volund belts and I'm very happy with it so far.
  4. I still fumble some mag changes when dry firing but not nearly as often since I started using dummy rounds in the magazine when practicing.
  5. Well my shooting has gotten more consistent. I found that I needed to tweek my grip just a hair and I've also cleaned up my trigger & changed sights. I recently went to a 2 day shooting class and that has helped dramatically in a short time. I'm still a work in progress but I'm much better than I was several months ago.
  6. I've got a Blade tech and a Comptac. Both are nice holsters and both can be tightened done for plenty of retention or loosened up for a very quick draw. I lean a little toward the Comptac but you can't go wrong with either.
  7. I have ordered several times from RMR and have been very happy with both prices and shipping times, usually have them 3days after ordering.
  8. I'm using Dawson adjustable rear and a Dawson fiber front.
  9. You should stay in the same class if your already running a red dot I believe.
  10. I think you would be in tactical optics class unless your running a ported barrel on your shotgun or optic on your pistol. I use a Leopold vx-2 1-4 with a duplex reticle. They run right at $300. I'm sure there are better scopes out there but I'm unbelievably stubbern when it comes to buying US made products and I think the glass is pretty good for the money. I don't think it is a true 1x maybe 1.25x on the lower setting but I can still shoot both eyes open on 1 power without issue. I kind of like a regular duplex reticle because there isn't too much going on but they do make the same scope in a "pig plex" reticle designed for hog hunting that would allow somewhat of a hold over if shooting longer distances.
  11. I sent him a messege on Facebook 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything from him. I totally understand being busy but I'm not going to hunt the guy down.
  12. I should have said in the first post. This is my first year to competition shooting so I was thinking I would stay in production since that's the most simple cost effective.
  13. Well I'm looking to get some trigger work done on my M&P Pro and looking for some advice on it. I will only be using it to shoot some USPSA in the spring and then just to tinker around with. I'm in between doing a competitoon Apex kit but I've been in contact with Mike at Accurate Iron. I've heard good about both, especially Accurate Iron, but not sure what to do. My main concern is if I ever need warranty work done, will anything aftermarket done to the trigger void a warranty? I would have to ship the gun to Mike so that will add some more money to the equation also. What do you guys think?
  14. Well since I'm new to these types of shooting belts, I don't really have anything to compare it to except a trusty leather belt. I have only shot with it once and I like it so far. I think it is a good quality belt but don't have lot of time using it to see how it holds up. Hopefully I can get some more time using it soon. The sizing was kind of tricky for me because I fall in between medium and large and went with a medium so I wouldn't have so much overlap on my gun side. All in all, I'm happy with this US made belt. I was also looking at the wilderness instructors belts which the DSG belt is essentially that same thing with a inner belt and a different buckle. My only complaint right now is the sizing. I'm a 34" jeans so with the medium, I have about 3" of Velcro overlap and with a large I would have about 8" overlap and it would be right where a right handed shooters holster would be.
  15. Well I take it no one has any experience with these belts. My DGM competition belt just showed up yesterday. I haven't tried it out yet but if anyone is curious on them, I will reply back as to how it is when I get to try it out and see how it goes.
  16. Well after looking at more belts than I can count, I made my mind up on a CR Speed belt. That's when I came across a DSG completion belt. I searched the forum but didn't have much luck finding a whole lot on them. They are a 2 piece 1.5" belt with plastic inside to stiffen it up. They are a little pricey but I believe they are US made which I'm very interested buying unless I have no other choice. They also have a locking buckle which would get rid of a belt keeper. I'm leaning toward this belt since I could just put the buckle in back to free up the front for gear. Does anyone have any knowledge on these belts or know anyone that has used one? http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/KTDSGBC-15-BLK.aspx
  17. Does anyone have any input on the safariland els belt system? I like the look of them but don't really know if the higher price is justifiable considering how much extra the attachments cost. I've heard the term "buy once, cry once" but does anyone have any experience with it?
  18. I have looked at the ELS system and am not opposed to it but what kind of price am I looking at with those forks? They are considerably more expensive than teclocks, are they that much more secure and strong or is it just the ease you are paying for? The sticker shock isn't terrible since I'm buying over time instead of all at once. Will the ELS work with all the holsters and magazine holsters without modifications?
  19. Well I've been doing some looking at CR Speed and Double Alphas and it looks like a Chevy vs. Ford deal. I've also looked at the Blade tech belt which looks exactly like the CR belts. I'm guessing they are made by CR? I think I will just end up with one of the mentioned belts and go from there. I'm leaning toward the CR unless someone has a better alternative for someone just starting out.
  20. As a shooter new to competitions, I'm in need of some gear but have time on my side since there aren't any here in Iowa this time of the year. My biggest concern for gear right now is what belt to use. I tried to search since this has obviously been brought up before but it's hard to search belts because there are hundreds of topics that have "belt" in the posts. I plan on shooting a little of everything next spring IDPS, USPSA, 3gun, etc. Being as I'm not 100% which I will enjoy most, I need belt suggestions that will cover all of them. The way I read IDPA is your belt must go through the loops, so that rules out a 2 belt system unless you get rid of the inner belt where as USPSA and 3 gun are a little more open concerning belts. I'm looking at one of the Wilderness Instructors belts because the only downside I can see is the speed of moving/switching holsters but they are stiff enough to load about anything you could want on them. This doesn't bother me too much because if you put a techlok on the holsters they are easily moved unless I'm missing something about them. I'm looking into the belt first and then will be on to magazine holsters and so on next but need to get the belt so I can get used to practicing draws and shooting with it before I throw in the challenges of reloads. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as belts go?
  21. Well I finally got to go out and shoot again over the weekend. I shot 124 gr and 147 gr in the different manufactures. There was very little variation on in groupings and where I am missing between the three kinds of ammo although the 147gr was noticeably higher shooting, where the 124gr. was about a 1 inch lower. I shot four 3 shot strings from 7 yards supported and then did the same off hand with each kind of ammunition. At 7 yards, I'm about 1 1/2" low and about 1 inch left on my groups. My average group size shooting supported was about 1 1/2". There were a few shoots in there that I knew as soon as I let it go, it was a flyer that opened my groups up, more so standing than supported but there were a couple in there supported as well. After doing all this over the weekend. I'm convinced it is all in the trigger pull because the majority of my first shots were very close to POA and the next ones is where they opened up. I will continue working on dry firing to try and see if I can bring the groups in tighter. The main reason I know it's in my trigger pull is that I shot several groups under 1 inch and then followed it up with another shot that was pushed about 4" straight left in the 9 o'clock position. Thanks for all the responses and if anyone has anymore input on the subject, I would love to here about it.
  22. My rear sights are perfectly centered. My front sight is off by about 1mm to the right which would help a little with the shooting left but I can't get it to move with a punch and I don't have a sight tool. Although it would help, I don't think 1mm is my only issue. I plan on putting a smaller FO front or the brass bead style front sight on but would like to get a little more consistent in case I need a shorter front sight. I've shot 124gr and it's around 4-6" low left at 15 yards. The 147gr is better at about 3-4" low left at 15 yards. I try to keep the pad of my finger on the center of the trigger but I've also tried in between the first joint and the pad as well as all 3 back straps. I think I've done better with the large backstrap because it takes some finger out of the equation but the last time I shot I used the small just to see what difference it would make. I'll try to shoot in the morning again with the large.
  23. I can move the sights on the 1911s but I have a hard time believing every pistol I pick up shoots low left and it not being my fault. The 1911s I'm OK with because it being a 1 1/2" off I can live with but clearly something I'm doing is off which needs to be corrected before taking the next step so to speak. I just think the triggers on the 1911s are hiding some issues and on the M&P those issues are magnified because of the trigger isn't as forgiving. I've thought about doing a little trigger work on the M&P but if my fundamentals are off I'm just masking human error still.
  24. I shoot at home as I live out in the country so unless there are farmers in the field, it's almost always quiet. Shooting supported as well as off hand I have about the same results, 4-6" low left as a right handed right eye dominant shooter. When I shoot my 1911's, I am about 1 1/2" low left which I know is me but I think the cleaner trigger helps my bad habit/form but I get nice groups. With the M&P, I'm not really seeing good groups as I'm kind all over but everything is low left consistently. I've only shot about 150 rounds in the M&P so a completely different trigger is not helping me but it's clearly me not the gun. I'm sure more rounds will help but it's a real pain if it will take me 10k rounds just to get myself used to the trigger, then sticking with a 1911 would be better. I added the M&P to the group because next spring I plan on finally getting into some real shooting matches and thought I would be somewhat handicapped by 8rd mags in a 1911 .45 especially in 3gun.
