Ah ok, fairly close to where they're coming from then.  I have yet to see another Chaos in person, or any Atlas for that matter.

So here's the thing. I've got 6 guys at my local club that are shooting Chaos'. Some are loading short at 1.155, some are loading long at 1.175 and some in the middle. My gun ran great with 8.4 gr of HS6 at 1.175 with a MG 124. But that's also by opinion...

Dang that's a lot.  Are you in the upper midwest?  That's the only place I heard where they're that common at this point.

  3. Any of them will work.  Not tracking on a gunsmith that does that because that's usually the polymer framed gun crowd that does that.  If this is a competition gun, you're not going to save much money if any by having it slide mounted.  A frame mount can be had for cheap, and drilling holes in the frame is pretty easy compared to milling a slide for a red dot.  Performance-wise, it's going to be much better off on the frame as well.

What was your OAL?   Mine are loaded to 1.175 and the gun ran great at our local match

Is that 1.175 with PD's?   I just bought 124 jhp PD's that will sit over HS-6.  I was a little worried that bigbob said he had jams, but that's the first time I've heard anyone saying they couldn't run a specific jhp.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I never get one one just for training, but I always train with them first to be sure they meet the needs/expectation of a carry/home defense or CCW before putting em in that role. A legit class let’s me run the weapon hard and make sure it can hold up on a carry capacity. Always better to know the limitations in a co trolled setting vs just carry it and hope for the best

Another caveat, if you're considering it for carrying, I'd say go for it.  I will never be low crawling through dirt and mud, or open carrying my CCW, so I'm not worried about the magazine issue.

Mostly just a range toy. My family has a lot of land in TX so we just go out and shoot quite a bit, friendly family competition.

If it runs well, it is also something I would like to train with when I go to classes.

I used to to do some “tactical shoots” just for the fun of it, but then we were stationed in Puerto Rico a year and a half ago and they are NOT gun friendly at all! So this was gonna be a gift to myself after being stationed here and not being able to go shooting. I may get back into some type of shooting like that depending on where we are stationed next. Not really wanting to compete for prizes but more just to hone my skills and abilities

    Thanks for the response

BLUF:  STI's are good fun, so if you have extra cash, go for it, but based on what you claimed you're going to use it for, I'm not sure it's the best option.

If it's a range toy, then who cares what other people's opinions are (referencing your Glock buddies).  I love 2011's, I have two STI's, though they've both been worked over extensively for competition, and an Atlas gunworks 2011.  That said, I would not recommend one for a duty-use.  I have seen plenty of STI's that shoot just as reliably as polymer, striker fired guns, but they have a massive weakness: the magazines.  Get those things dirty, too wet, sandy, and your gun may not run.  So if these classes are hardcore, then you may run into trouble.   I never understood having a gun just for "training."  In my opinion it should be the same platform/setup as your duty, home defense, or competition rig (whatever the training is for).

Bluedevil008 nice run, gun looking good with you. What primers are you using. Is everyone small rifle or small pistol.

I haven't started reloading yet, and won't for a few months.  Just running factory minor ammo through it in the meantime.  It doesn't work the comp much but recoil push is super soft.

  8. Just checked the sheet that shipped with the gun, it recommends 7.5-7.9gr of Silhouette behind a 124 gr bullet, does not mention any other powders or bullet weights.

800-ish rounds through the gun this weekend to break it in.

First match with the Chaos and snagged a win as well as a 100% classifier:

  9. 515 rounds through it at the range today breaking it in.  This thing is incredible!

Mine 9mm top end came with an Infinity tube + Taran guts, my .40 top end came with an STI new gen with TTI guts.  It sounds like they're trying to go to STI tubes + taran guts exclusively based on their recent videos.

The Infinity mag and an MBX that I have both ran flawlessly. The ammo today was HOT minor loads.  Wasn't really working the comp too much, but the dot stayed in the glass (barely), and the whole platform shot incredibly soft.

  10. I use a 12lb recoil spring. shooting 180gr BBI. Just bought a Titan and it shipped with a 10lb, haven't shot it yet, but I'm also switching to jhp.  The Atlanta Arms ammo I shot during several majors last year is a bit softer than the coated, and I probably could have ran a 11lb.

From everything I've heard and read, if a 17lb hammerspring doesn't work for you, there's probably some other issue, bad primers, issues with the trigger group, firing pin channel, etc.

  11. Ar15.com has a competition forum and might get some traffic, gunbroker if the right person comes along or just things it's cool.  Here is the only place to guarantee you're selling to the right market.  Also practiscore is rolling out a new classifieds feature which is cool as it will show up on matches that are local to you.  I don't think it's getting enough traffic to the point that it's being used extensively quite yet.  BLUF: don't put all your chips in one basket.

At MO3GC we run 14-15 man squads, 75 min time per stage, have a 30 min lunch break, (if any are behind they shoot through lunch) very seldom run behind. Usually finish between 4-5:30

A couple of KEY things that many matches fail at

    START ON TIME !

Stage times must be fairly close in total time. A 120 avg time and a 40 avg time will screw everybody.

Keep walk through at the 5 min. regardless. Use a countdown timer with alarm. it's so easy to burn an extra 5-10 per squad jacking around before/after stage brief.

We run a 2 day, 10 stage , ~180 shooters, and do prize table about 3-4pm on 2nd day.

Our biggest holdup has been RO's entering scores on the wrong stage. That was actually our fault as RM/MD we missed it , until tallying the finals and everything was jacked.

The MO3GC is the only other example I use of a well-ran On-Off schedule.  You guys do a great job of keeping things on schedule.  Additionally, the other reason I advocate for it in YOUR case specifically, is that there is unfortunately nothing to do off the range.  The drive to decent meals is a bit far, and there are no attractions, so even if we were doing AM/PM, I would probably be at the range the whole day anyway.

  13. Bump!

I just wanted to remind everyone that it is legal to bring all your fun toys into California when you are registered to shoot a match at a shooting range.  So your regular tac-ops, open toys are legal to bring into state to shoot.  You'd be wise to keep them locked and out of sight while not at the range, and keep a printout of your registration with you.

Also, the hosting club has changed its name from California Shooting Arcade to Northern California Multigun.

Probably the easiest way to tell if it was intentional or not is, did the target need to be shot again. If not did this supposedly AD happen to improve his hits on said target. If not “sir I hate to inform you that you are done for the day”

I've made up alpha's with alphas before, so I view this is irrelevant.

Nobody fires the gun with the hand over the slide, that is quite clearly an attempt to unload.  DQ in my opinion.

  15. Adam installed mine as well.  I have been shooting with a nitro fin on my limited gun and knew I'd want a pedal for the open gun.

My racker wouldn't come out so I had to give it a few good smacks with a nylon hammer to pop out of the detent.  Probably will have to do that a few more times until I can just pull it, so I'll be carrying around the hammer in my range back for the time being! haha
