  1. I've got the RNT tab installed now. Only moderately content. Looks like a cheap, reliable option. But much more force is required to engage the bolt release. It also makes it much more difficult (almost impossible) to use the bolt release to release shells from the magazine when dry-firing and unloading.

I will do my best to get a replacement screw from Beretta and keep this in the bag if needed. I shot a match last weekend with nothing on the button and I didn't have any issues, so this isn't much of an improvement.

  2. I'm at 1k rounds without cleaning. It did NOT like the Winchester Super target stuff I tried to put through it last weekend. Switched back to Federal and had no problems other than one failure to feed from magazine tube. Spring is in need of replacing. Unfortunately, the bolt release button screw backed out and lost itself.

Brownells wants to charge $14.16 for one tiny ass screw. Anyone have a better source, or know exactly what kind it is so I can get it from a hardware store?

Mine did the same thing. Call beretta and they should send you the parts you need. I however went to lowes and found a stainless screw that was longer and loctited that sucker in. I think this the better way to go as this is a known problem on this gun.

    Send, for FREE?! haha

the M3 x6mm stainless screws I got from the hardware store aren't quite long enough.

  3. Yeah If you don't mind me asking, what was your total cost to get everything necessary?

200 bucks, just like every gun I've ever bought!

(nice try honey, but 'spook' accounts aren't fooling me! btw, was that a new purse you brought home the other night?)

    bluedevil,(incase you're not my wife)

I've had the gun(see start of this thread) and most the other stuff laying around for awhile. The only things I 'picked' up recently were the A400 speedbead mount & the chute. I would "guess" $1200-$1400 would get you pretty close,...unless of course you're good at finding smokin deals, like me! ;)

I already have the shotgun, so I'd need the chute, and 6-7 loading thingies, plus an optic and mount. That all sounds like it's going to run me close to a grand.

Was your estimate including the shotgun? haha

  4. FYI Arredondo now has the speed chute for a 1301 comp. Yay!

    Indeed!

Yeah If you don't mind me asking, what was your total cost to get everything necessary? I'm tempted to switch to open next year, but the shotguns are so expensive!

Also, I just picked up some stainless M3 x 6mm screws at ACE for .17each. They are phillips head though, so I will update tonight after I see how they work.

  5. I just bought one of these as well. Seems to be a very nice gun. Has anyone done any force cone work, trigger work, computer anaylsis with different chokes. Also where do you guys send your guns for mods such as trigger work and some of the other mods such as loading port. Also is edm porting really worth it? I didn't mean to jump of your post Jedi but thought it would be good questions to ask on here rather than starting another post.(I will do so if its a problem)

    Thanks in advance!

What do you need trigger work for? My factory trigger is absolutely perfect. I've actually bump fired it one time before shooting low-recoil slugs, so I definitely would not want it any lighter.

  6. I'd be interested to hear about a cheaper screw, I stripped the head out on mine a while back trying to make sure that sucker didn't back out. Someday I'm gonna want to take it apart again and I'll need a new screw. Are you at 1k total rounds or just 1k uncleaned? Cause I'm at 2k uncleaned with 2.5k on a Nordic spring cut only 4" out of a 10 round tube with not a single malfunction on almost only 1145fps federal loads. Knocking on wood as I write this.

I'm at around 2.5k total, without cleaning the last 1k. It's been flawless until the last few hundred rounds. I am going to replace the mag tube spring and give it a thorough cleaning, make sure I run the Federal stuff or better at matches and I'll have 100% confidence in it. For how I run this thing, a few malfunctions (95%) caused by bad ammo, I can accept a problem here or there.

I didn't realize that RNT tab isn't fastened on to the gun in any way. Makes me a bit uncomfortable that it could fall out mid-stage.

  8. For anyone wondering, the style of this match is more like ProAm than Steel Challenge. These are not static stages, you will be moving and shooting multiple arrays, consisting of primarily knockdown steel. There will be optional bonus targets that subtract from your time if you choose to take them. Top shooters in each division and class will walk the table first, and then it will go to order of finish. We have several GM's signed up already so it will be a challenge for those wanting it, but lower class shooters will still be competing amongst their class. The par time for each stage is set so that most middle of the pack shooters will be able to clean the stage, so your score is your time and not amount of plates, but plates left standing will assess penalties. It can be quite frustrating and sometimes a little too humbling when you shoot a ProAm and you barely get half of the plates, so that is not the stage design intention for this match.

Hope to see you all there! Dothan Gun Club opened last year and they have been killing it with tons of monthly matches and they'll be more than ready for their first "major."

  10. Jabs Extreme Steel Targets and Dothan Gun Club are proud to announce the first annual
    JABS EXTREME STEEL TARGET CHALLENGE
On April 24th – 25th 2015 Dothan Gun Club will host the newest concept of an all steel match. Come test your skills at this match, veteran shooters and new shooters alike. Try out some challenging stage designs and a new concept of bonus targets that has never tried before. This
new concept will have some very challenging custom targets designed by Jabs Extreme Steel Targets set out in each stage that if engaged and hit will take seconds off your time. There will be 6 stages of knockdown steel and 2 stages of static steel. This will be a time/plus penalties
scoring match, with stage cut off times built into the stage. Basically you will get to shoot’em till they all fall but not stand and go to war with the stage. There will be only two division: limited irons and open, both will have to follow all of the current USPSA limited and open rules
as they pertain to the firearms used. Irons Division magazines will be limited to 10 rounds. Competitors will compete using their USPSA class or (IDPA equivalent class) and can register and shoot in both divisions. There will be cash payouts and trophies for top shooters in each class and also a prize table. The best part of this match will be on Saturday night during the announcements and prize table. All shooters, RO’s and vendors (sponsors) will be invited to a Whole Hog Cookin’ with all the fixings’ to go along with it for a nice after shoot party. Plan on joining us for a fun weekend of shooting and good eating, with good friends and fellow competitors. Registration will begin on December 15, 2014 at www.Jabssteeltargets.com
