I have to agree with the OP.
DAA makes an initial clam that the fit is perfect for each gun and reminds the buyer to ensure they order the correct block for their gun. This first claim is negated by their second statement, "some minor fitting may be required".  Looking at the video, at least inside the first two minutes, a hex wrench is required. At least one tool is included. You also need to purchase a block and punch. By 3 minutes into the video we are beyond minor fitting and well into operational theory as a cautionary tale that underscores the amount of attention required to reassemble.
For the cost, they could create custom inserts for each model year range and generation. Or, at the least indicate some medium level fitting is required. To me, more than 50% disassembly indicates major work regardless of complexity.

As an example, Gugas Ribas, at least tell you up front that you will have to take some time to get the correct fit for their holster. Also, there fitting process is centered on tightening the holster and multiple points to get a fit. There is no 'removal of material' which inherently increases the possibility of a failed fitting.

To be fair in judging my assessment, I stopped watching the video at 5 minutes. I was done by then. I would concede that a lower cost and a better reference to the effort would be reasonable solutions.

I have a PT Evo insert for my Racemaster and the fit is incredibly sloppy.

  2. Finally shot my Titan (which is just a .40 Titan topend for a Chaos) today. 300 flawless rounds and some solid match performance.  Hadn't shot limited since February so the fiber was a little weird for me, but the gun is great, incredibly accurate and tracks beautifully.  A friend compared it to his DVC and said it was night and day difference in how easy it was to return the sights back on target.

Yes, it is the same one. The Sig website would be a good place to look, and Brownell’s would be another. Top Gun Supply has also had the parts I needed in stock when I needed them.

    Thanks Bill!

Springer Precision makes a great pre-fit

    That's what I use, I like it.

  4. I've put about 5K through the frame since February on my 9mm Major Chaos topend.  I figured since I have a couple months until my next major, it is a good time to finally test out the .40 topend.  Since I was taking the optic off for a deep clean anyways, it wasn't a big deal to make the switch.  I wish I could do it by just grabbing a different gun from the safe, but then I remember that this route was a couple grand cheaper!

I can decently call shots on paper targets but miserably on reactive targets. I think in reactive targets my vision is transfering to the target as the gun fires its why I could not call the shot.

Ive been doing those drills you guys are advising but when I shoot metals I revert to the above system I guess so Im looking for ways to work around it.

The 2 instances I experienced it in matches the conditions were a bit uncommon: the first i was shooting in drizzle and dark skies so the 20y poppers were a bit fuzzy and the dot was very visible vs the target. The other instance, the plate in an array was 30y away and 3 poppers in next array was 50y. In those distances I  felt the targets were taking a long time to fall but I saw the dot on them so I left them for the other targets but in the corner of my eyes saw them falling as I was engaging the next targets. It felt very strange. It appeared everything in slomo. In those two stages I remember my certainty of hits were very high and I finished 2nd and those are lev 3 matches. Proof that confirming hits on plates falling vs sights is very slow. Now, if I could do it more often...

Put the steel far away so that there is a longer time between when the target reacts and when your sights lift.  It may make it easier for you to focus on calling the shot versus transferring your vision to the target.

What changes that you start feeling that "breakthrough"? Is it just getting warmed up or switching to different drills?

In general I feel multiple practice sessions are better, but it's highly individual.  I'd rather push on if the session is going really well and skip the 2nd session. But I'd also skip meals to pay for more range time.

This.  Just when you are starting to see improvement is not the time to stop!  Get those solid reps in and make it your new standard.

  7. Lena's Mossberg broke at World Shoot and she had to move to a backup...  This is at least the second time I've heard of this for her.  Never heard of someone having to go to a backup Benelli.

She's so good that she still won, but why would you want a gun that always has a pretty decent risk of breaking.

  8. Linden Gun Range hosts 3-gun matches, as does Sacramento Valley Shooting Center.  Richmond hosts a multigun practice one Saturday morning out of the month, and occasionally hosts multigun from what I understand.  Lincoln Rifle Club also has 3gun matches.

If you're in the bay area, you don't have to travel too far to get to a 3-gun match.  I haven't shot any of these yet because I made a choice to stick to USPSA for 2018 (only lived here for less than a year).

  9. All alphas in 5.95.  10.08 HF, or about 84%.  Lost probably .25 on the reload, and on the first pass my transitions were a little slow.  I slowed it down to half speed and could tell I wasn't beginning my transition as soon as the sight lifted.

Recently got a new Tundra and am trying to figure out how to best set up the bed for transporting steel targets, ammo, range age, etc, to the range.  Would ideally like to keep most of my range set up in the bed of the truck and would not be storing firearms other than transporting to the range.  Have seen some nice sliding drawer options, but they are big bucks... also thinking about making my own version of a sliding bed drawer system.

But thought I would see what ideas/suggestions the hive has..

    Thanks in advance.

Probably the best setup I have seen was just system of boxes built using heavy duty wood.  One box held steel stands, another the targets, another held range bags, etc.  Cheap, light, efficient.  Not the prettiest but it worked.  You could cover part or all of it in carpet to keep noise down.

  11. Odd that this list is missing the (in my opinion) the two most popular triggers in 3-gun. AR Gold and Hiperfire.  Both are excellent.  As is the Timney Calvin Elite.  The CE has a similar feel to my Hiperfire ECL, but even lighter.  I was not happy with my CMC and Geissele triggers.  I use Hipefire for my rifles, but I would absolutely recommend the AR Gold and Calvin Elite as well.  I have tens of thousands of rounds through my hipefires and not one issue.

  12. I just purchased a new pair  yesterday and I bought my last pair probably 18 months ago.  I only wear them at matches, so probably a total of 30 days per year.  It's not great, but as comfortable and functional as they are, I really don't mind spending a little extra for them compared to cheaper shoes.  If there's an area to cut money, I don't think shoes is one of them.

  13. I wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure there's plenty that would.  As with any gun, you won't get what you paid for it if it's 4 years old, especially if the gunsmith no longer is in business.   I don't think it necessarily has to do with his charges.

My second DPP will not automatically turn off even after 30 minutes .....Shot a match Saturday and it went blank after the second stage..slapped it hard and came back on....frustrating....and I’ve got 3 of them. I’ll see how Leupolds repair system works when and if I get the first one back. They kindly sent me an address label to return the second unit.

Never had any of the problems with AR style red dots...my Eotechs have been magic....I’m sure it’s apples and oranges though.

Completely different kinda animal.  They're called micro red dots for a reason, and it seems like nobody has figured out the magic yet.  The Trijicon RMR's are probably the closest thing to having reliability of the full size optics, but they aren't the best for competition.
