  1. I saw an article where the guy ground the rail off and made weight. It was quite a project though, and he had all the right equipment for it.
  2. I paid $575 for my Match 9mm that I bought for 3 Gun. My GF shot it so well, that within a week we bought another one at the same price. She shoots it phenominally better than she did her M&P. They may be more money than they used to be, but they are still a great value at that price. It's competition in that price range are mostly polymer guns, and it shoots and handles better than any of those. Especially to a guy like me who loves his 40oz 1911. The Match is even heavier than that. I'm still impressed with the value and quality of the Match for the price.
  3. I just picked up 55gr cannelured FMJ's for $90 plus sales tax here locally. I need another couple thousand before he sells out.
  4. 55gr FMJ (any brand) / 20grs Accurate 2200 / 2970fps / 2.2 OAL Just need the 55gr pill to punch paper and ring steel, so if it hits where I'm pointing, I'm good to go. Currently tinkering with a 75gr Prvi Partizan Match bullet using the same 20grs of powder. Havent tested it yet. But this will be my long range load and spinner round. Lots of the local guys are swearing the heavier round gets the spinner over faster.
  5. A perfect example. I see it all the time in golf. In a typical round of golf, a 14 handicap (average) will putt 2.1 times per hole. So 37.8 putting strokes per round. But they will only hit the driver on average of 13 to 14 times per round. But guess what? They spend all their time out on the driving range banging away with their driver and hardly any time on the practice green with the flat stick where true and measurable progress can be made. Just like hitting the Driver, the draw is an important skill to master. But also just like hitting the Driver, there are far more important skills that can be mastered that have a far more measurable impact on your progress.
  6. Slide to frame fit was what I was discussing, in response to the quoted post. I've shot several 1911's that were very accurate even though they were somewhat loose. This has been discussed in magazines and forums ad nauseum. There is a pretty common consensus that accuracy has no correlation to a gun that rattles a little bit. It may spray them all over the place, or it may be a damn straight shooter.
  7. I also went through this issue with Dawson. I went with the .160T/.100W and had to elevate the rear sight about halfway to get a PoA/PoI. I like a 6 o'clock hold on my 1911's, but not with this gun. My front sight also flew off while shooting it, even though it tapped in very snug. A counter-sink under the allen head screw and copious amounts of loctite fixed the issue. The sight fits flush with the end of the slide on my Match.
  8. I'm running what Nealio told me to run in my 9mm Match. 8lb recoil spring, 14lb hammer spring with a Henning extended firing pin.
  9. MY GF had a Bladetech for her M&P that her Match fit into damn near perfectly. We discovered it by accident. I bought her a Serpa that I modified slightly for her to use, but she put the wrong one on her belt. She shot half the 3 Gun match before I even noticed she was using the wrong holster. But it fit... <shrugs> So in a pinch, the M&P full size Bladetech is a great fit for the Match.
  10. I think that reasoning makes sense on paper. But it doesn't parlay into real life examples. I don't think there are many issues with 1911 accuracy. There are plenty of loose and rattling 1911's out there that shoot one big ragged hole. My dad's old Colt GI is a tack driver. I would agree that my 1911's are a little tighter than my Match. But if both designs function flawlessly and are accurate, it boils down to tomato/tomatto.
  11. Hey everyone. New poster here. I got on the boards to view and post on the Tanfoglio section. I'm friends with Nealio and Praetorian, and they directed me here. I'm also a big fan of the 1911. It's my favorite handgun platform. But I've heard great things about Tanfoglio so I bought one in 9mm to be my high capacity 3 Gun competition handgun. We'll see how it goes
