  1. Great thread Chic,

It's impressive to see how far you've come in such a short amount of time. I knew you practiced a lot, but I'm learning a lot from you about taking the time to analyze and document your discoveries and use that information to guide your next session. See you at the range!

  2. Don't grind the tabs, it's not necessary. Use a steel punch that matches the diameter of the hole in the floor plate and pop the plate off. With new mags it takes a LOT of effort, but after a few times, they can be removed pretty easily.

  3. I've got three years out of mine and counting, without mag-related issues. I do disassemble and clean them after ever practice/match though. Now that the price of mags has come back to earth perhaps it's time to invest in a few new ones.

  4. Even with the slide stop lever installed correctly, an improper grip will push it up and lock the slide on you. Installing the flatter lever will help, but a better grip will allow you to take advantage of the wider lever in competition without the risk of slide lock. Ask me how I know, haha.

  5. Didn't care for the sight picture and most people think the factory sights are not durable enough. Thus the investment in a set of FO sights. It was a good choice for me. But you need to do what's best for you, that's why there's so many options in the marketplace.

  6. Match your recoil spring the PF of your ammo. If you're shooting factory ammo, I would suggest staying with the 17# spring (DO get a SS guide rod, though). Going to a 13# spring will leave the gun with less resistance to the slide and will just beat up your frame. If you choose to reload to minor power factor, then a 13# spring is a good idea. If you load to minor power factor with a factory spring, there is a risk of failure to eject.
