  1. Thanks for the input. I was expecting more positive feedback on the AET barrels but it appears they are not significantly better than a standard barrel. I think I'll call SVI and see about getting an ultimatch instead. -Cuz.
  2. FWIW, I just bought 1000 West Coast Bullets from a local dealer in RI this past weekend. I asked if they were still in business and he said yes he was still getting them but the company had changed. When I tried to look them up online I couldn't find them either so I was surprised. -Cuz.
  3. I recently ordered a new SVI Limited pistol in .40 cal. I had originally ordered it with an AET barrel. I talked to Brandon today and if I want the gun with a standard .40 cal barrel he can have it done in a week for me. He is currently waiting on .40 cal AET barrels and figures it to be about a month or so longer if I want to wait. Is the AET barrel worth waiting an extra month or so for? I need to make a decision so all input is greatly appreciated. In fact, the more inputs the better to help me decide. What's so different about them? Thanks, -Cuz.
  4. I know this question is in response to an old post, but can you tell me where you are getting moon clips at $20 per 100? I just got a 625 so now I'm pouring over all the posts in the Revolver group. Thanks, -Cuz I know this question is in response to an old post, but can you tell me where you are getting moon clips at $20 per 100? Thanks, -Cuz.

Round_Gun_Shooter, What's a "plano box"??? The picture isn't working. -Cuz
  6. Dave, What size bullets are you loading? Do you have any idea how fast they are going? When I was playing with some 230gr FMJ loads I was having accuracy problems until I kicked up the velocity to the 800fps range. -Cuz
  7. Damn Shred. I was planning to use that tactic in place of actually practicing. I thought for sure it would work. Now you've gone and ruined it -Cuz
  8. I was loading 4.5 gr WST with a 230gr FMJ bullet which I believe would make major. I didn't chrono it. The problem was it just wasn't very accurate. I need to kick up to 4.7gr to get the FMJ bullet to shoot accurately but now it feels like a very hot load. I guess I'm looking for the most accurate load that also makes major. I may be wrong, but it seems everyone is more concerned about PF than accuracy which I guess is normal since "accuracy" in this sport means hitting a pretty big A zone. I want to use the same load in .45 for pin/plate shoots as well where the targets are much smaller. Does anyone work up a load based on trying to find the most accurate combination? -Cuz.
  9. Whew. I had picked up a CED 8000 timer at a gun show last month because I didn't feel like waiting for the new Pact Timer to come out. Then I started regretting the decision. Not anymore. Pact does not sound like the kind of company I want to do any business with. I don't care how good their products may be, I care more about how they treat their customers when things go wrong. Thank you Mike at MLE Shooting for selling me the CED Timer. I like it a lot. -Cuz.
  10. I always thought the only reason not to load the mags too early was to keep strain off the feed lips. That prevents the mags from needing to be tuned. Otherwise I didn't think it was a problem. -Cuz
  11. Let me add A-Merc brass to that list of what not to use. It's too stiff for my dies. When ever I collect range brass I always get a dozen or so of them. Now, after polishing I check each one to pick them out. I hate em. -Cuz.
  12. Thanks Tom, I did try some in TG but they seemed pretty hot. I eventually picked up 4 pounds of WST powder and like it. I'll continue to evaluate till it's gone and by then I'll see which way I'm leaning. -Cuz
  13. I'm starting to get the idea that these guns are like pets. No two are the same. I can easily see that all I'm ever going to do is guess and hope until I get a chrono. I was holding off cause I don't have an outdoor range to shoot at. It seems that chrono's don't work indoors which leaves me in a bit of a bind. I saw a kit that Shooting Chrony sells for about $35 that allows you to use a chrono indoors. I may have to look into it. Thanks for the info. -Cuz.
  14. Thanks Jeff, I don't see VV powder around here. Seems like it's not too popular in my area. I will keep this for future reference though. -Cuz
  15. I just rec'd my Safariland 012 holster that I ordered and I think it came assembled wrong. It's a LEFT handed model. Can someone tell me which direction the post that hands down from the belt loop part is supposed to pivot? I think mine was assembled as if it were for a righty because the post pivots towards the rear instead of forwards. That means I could adjust my gun in the holster so it was leaning almost upside down and pointing towards the rear. I just can't imagine this holster was ever supposed to go that way. I undid the parts and flipped them so now it will pivot forward, but I just want to know how it is supposed to be. Thanks, -Cuz
  16. Thanks for the info. I was hoping to hear from some of the other shooters with AET barrels from Infinity. I figure they must have sold a bunch of them so somebody's got to be chronographing their .40 loads... -Cuz
  17. I've been pouring over the load data here and have been using a great load I found in my Para P16.40 LTD. It's 4.7 gr TiteGroup with a 180gr JHP (Zero & Montana Gold) with a 1.131 OAL. I haven't chrono'd it but I feel comfortable that it should make major. I will be getting a 40 cal SVI with a Schuemann AET barrel. Can anyone tell me if my load will still make major? From what I can find on this site the AET barrels seem to shoot slower so it may take more powder to make Major. Plus, it also seems I should be loading longer for better reliability so if I extend the OAL to 1.200 how will that affect things? Any AET barrel shooters out there care to offer some advice? Thanks, -Cuz
  18. Eric, Was that repair covered under warranty??? Ouch!!!
  19. Thanks for the info. It will be my prized possession as well. At least until the next one... -Cuz
  20. TLS, Is that the California model you got from SVI? How long you had it? Did you buy mags from SVI as well? What mags are you using? I expect to be getting mine in a couple of weeks from SVI and need to get some magazines. Thanks, -Cuz
  21. Thanks for the input. I'm still not sure what I will do, but I guess either way it won't really matter much. -Cuz.
  22. I just read thru a ton of the magazine posts and have done some searches. Most of the data is a couple of years old. As best I can tell, the following was true: -SVI Mags worked better "out of the box". -STI Mags worked better after tuning. -STI Mags held a tune longer. -Doesn't matter what gun you use them in (SVI or STI). Is all of the above still true today? There doesn't seem to be a lot of new posts on this topic so I'm wondering if anything has changed. I'm interested in .40 caliber mags for a new SVI. Do you really have to get them tuned so they work reliably? I don't really care about getting the 20 rounds. I can throw on a base pad to get +1 or +2 rounds and be happy with that for now (at least until the gun is paid off), but I do want them to be reliable. If I was not planning to tune them is one better than the other? If I was planning to tune them is one better than the other? Thanks, -Cuz.
  23. Thanks all for the feedback. I'm glad everyone seems happy with the chrome work they do. Makes me feel comfortable about having my gun chromed there. -Cuz.
  24. Thanks for the info. That's what I'm looking for. -Cuz.
  25. Has anyone done business with apw lately? I'm trying to find out about their chroming and general gunsmithing services. How are they to do business with? Are they reputable? I'm considering buying an STI gun from them that they have chromed (.45acp Edge). How does their chroming compare to when STI does it instead? Does anyone know where STI does their chroming? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Cuz
