  1. Just say NO to point shooting The true question is "How much of a sight picture do I need to make THIS shot"? The sight picture for a 5 yard open target is much different than the one for a 20 yard head box only.
  2. Several years back a lot of us started experimenting with flat triggers. Wouldn't shoot anything else, and haven't for a number of years. I start with a pretty long trigger...then file away until it feels right.
  3. If you are not familiar with 1911 pattern guns find a friend to help you out. There is no way to truly describe on a forum what to look for.
  4. If you are not shooting major pf ammo through it, go lighter.
  5. Would really like to see how these things turned out. If and when they are truly available.
  6. My original number was A7468. A few years later bought a life membership, L2224. Long hiatus...fun to be back shooting again
  7. The STI single stacks are a very good value for the bucks. I bought a used 40 this year and have been very pleasantly surprised with it.
  8. Since this got bumped back up...... I sent emails to 4 of the builders mentioned in one way or another here, all saying the same thing. "Potentially interested in 6" gun. Would does availability/timeline look like. What are your thoughts comparing a lightened 6" gun to a full dustcover 40". Received 1 reply (Dan Bedell). Followed up with a conversation with Dan. He is firmly in the corner of a sight tracker 5" gun, and with well thought out reasoning. Enjoyed the conversation and he is certainly on the short list. Merle
  9. Sent a couple of emails out, we will see what the responses are. Any idea how to find more info on Bedell? No web site and the dealer's site is down.
  10. Good looking 6". Looks like business. Thanks, Merle
  11. Thanks guys. I checked with Matt and he quoted 10 months. Nice guns certainly, but not a time frame I can work with.
  12. Started back shooting this year after a long layoff and most of my old go-to gunsmiths have retired or are no longer in business. Anyone have a line on a good 'smith with decent timeline to have something like a STI framed 40 6" gun built? Thinking about something like that not only for IPSC but also to shoot metallic sight at Bianchi this coming season. Thanks! Merle
  13. Very nice. I did not realize they had an indoor action match. I will have to give it a try.
  14. TT That would be great! Really appreciate it. Not sure when another Pioneer match would be...I think they are done for the winter.
  15. I have not shot the cup in a number of years and am kicking around the idea of shooting one of my single stack guns in metallic sight division. From reading the rules, it appears that anything goes with the exception of a comp, optics, 2+ lb trigger and the sight radius restrictions. What are most folks using? It would appear that a 6" 9mm, 40, etc with an extended mag well for prone would be the ticket. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!
  16. Looking for some info on the metallic sight category. I haven't shot the cup in several years and thought I would just shoot my 1911 IPSC gun this coming year but certainly open to suggestions as to good gear and what is legal to use Thanks, Merle
  17. I may have missed it somewhere, but is there a place/time for packet pick up?
  18. 1. Reliability 2. Ergonomics. If it doesn't fit your hand well, and point naturally you will never shoot it well. 3. Accuracy 1,789. Looks. (doesn't show up on a score sheet anywhere )
  19. Has anyone tried both Universal and WST? Thoughts?
  20. Major PF. Loaded long overall (On vacation but I believe they are 1.19). Typically 180 jacketed (some plated). Thanks!
  21. I won a certificate for 8lbs of Hodgdon powder. I have used Clays for some time but am open to trying something else. My only other Hodgdon experiment was with TiteGroup. Shot well but had a fair amount of muzzle flash on the indoor range. Suggestions? Thanks!!!
