  1. I've had a clark gator for three years. The barrel was smoking hot several times at the IRONMAN. It shoots 1" groups at 200 yards with XM193. Winchester white box and the cheap remmys from Wal-Mart don't shoot as well. All of my dealings with CCG have been awesome!
  2. I don't mind rules when I fuly understand them. IMGA's rules are three pages. USPSA rules need a Philadelphia Lawyer to delinate. (for example see rule 8.1.1, 6.1.1,6.1.3, 8.1.3 those are fictional numbers but if you have read the rule book you get the idea.) USPSA does run very safe matches. I like seeing and using chamber flags. The 3G NATS rules worked very well. I wish USPSA would rewrite thier rules in a less complex matrix.
  3. +1 On Everything Sinstral and GarryOwen said!!! I've Shot SMM3G, RM3G, IRONMAN, USPSA 3G NATS, and the CAVARMS matches. At the IRONMAN if someones gun pukes on a stage, a second gun can be run to the competitor. (Sportmanship) At the CAVARMS match (last years) you could complete a course of fire with your pistol. (Tactical, real world scenario!) The RM3G is the quintessential 3gun match that everybody tries to imitate. (Good job guys!) The USPSA 3G Nats is a hose fest with no LR rifle skills tested. And super squads are treated as upperclassmen when it comes to adjudication of questionable issues. (The theme from Barney comes to mind, "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family, , ,) I watched one of the super squads run a stage this year. Two different competitors demanded the RM's decision on puny issues, another shot 1/2 the stage and demanded and got a reshoot. Hell of a way to accumulate points. I wanted to vomit. If every squad shot this way we would still be shooting. Moreover, the recalcitrant attitudes and actions of *some* USPSA shooters is definitely not a welcome mat to new shooters. The USPSA shooters classification system is seriously abused. For example an "A" class shooter in limited shoots a "C" qualifier in producation, then competes in the 3G nats with a limited pistol in "C" class. I am a classified USPSA shooter and will continue to shoot USPSA pistol matches, and 3G matches if they are conviently located. There is expotential room for improvement in USPSA 3G matches. In summary, keep USPSA, USPSA. Competition from the other "Outlaw?" 3G matches is and will be the caveat for change at USPSA. Albiet, slowly, very slowly.
  4. Thanks guys, I appreciate it!!!
  5. What is a magnifier? What is a magnifier without an aiming reticle?
  6. Need to purchase my daughter an airsoft for her birthday. There seems to be a lot of junk out there. Need one in an SVI/STI/Para configuration. What brand do you recommend and where do you recommend purchasing? Thank you.
  7. Here is chrono results from yesterday PM; All Velocity reading from a recently New Pact chrono 6' from muzzle to first transducer. 8. Perhaps, I am the lone dissenter. I will be very disappointed if they do not follow the 520PF rule. This is my first USPSA 3GUN match, although I've shot numerous IMGA matches. I researched the rules and purchased ammo specifically to meet the 520PF. Now, where is the greater malfeasance, not following known posted rules three week out from the match, or The BOD reruling in favor of the 480 PF? For the competitors that have been using known weenie loads in prior matches W/O chrono, isn't that an admission of cheating...hmmm...?
  9. DPMS all the way. I've always purchased DPMS at lower prices that RRA. Try Rguns.net. Complete DPMS forged lower $199. Never found RRA that cheap. DPMS has supported every three gun match I've shot.
  10. Tnek, I have the piston for the heavy loads. Moreover, I don't know who carries spare parts, I haven't needed any yet. When you find who carries the pistons/seals please post here so we will all know. On lubrication, the wetter the better.
  11. Building an 1100 for my wife. After reading Pat Sweeney's book, he recommends installing a 3" lifter to enhance reliability and prevent lock-back on every shot. How many of you have changed to a 3" lifter and noticed enchanced reliability? How many of you are running 2-3/4" lifters with no problems? Thanks, Gunny
  12. "Gunny: No offense but the tech/engineer you spoke with was full of crap. The SX2 is sold in several versions (sporting clays models) where 1 1/4 oz loads are prohibited." Perhaps I should have been more specific, The engineer I talked with was on the design team for the SX2 Practical Mark 1, and they designed the gas system for 1-1/4 oz. loads. He was intimately familar with the SX2 Practical Mark 1 & II.
  13. Dittos on Powder Valley. I ordered 25,000 small pistol primers from them and they shipped quickly and without backorder. Highly Recommended!
  14. Been checking the RM3G website daily, and the results are not posted. There was some mix-up in the open class scoring but it should be straightened out by now. Anybody know where the results are posted? Thanks.
  15. If you are asking about shooting a shotgun on the move, it is generally best to move into a position that allows you to shoot the most targets. Group your targets into a bare mininum of shooting positions. With that being said, sometimes it is expedient to shoot a single target on the move.
  16. Does someone have an address for the range, or directions? Thank you.
  17. I used a Beta on every rifle stage at RM3G, it ran flawlessly! Ran flawlessly at the IRONMAN as well. No mag changes, just run and gun, hop and pop, shoot and loot! Seriously, all mags have their advantages and disadvantages. Beta's are not as good as 30 rounders for prone mono-podding in most situations. Beta's do not work well in house clearing stages when the shooting port is a tight window next to a 90 deg. inside corner. Going prone in deep sand or pine duff a 40 rounder sunk into the sand 3-5 inches is more stable and allows a higher clearence than a 30 rounder. Some stages/situations call for a 20 rounder. Use the mag that compliments the stage! A serious 3gunner will have 20's, 30's, 40's and a Beta at his/her disposal.
  18. Clark GATOR 20" upper with a DPMS lower JP trigger installed by JP Miculek comp. Simmons 1.5 X 5. STI .40 Long dustcover Green fiber front. 180 Gr. Billy Bullets Tightgroup powder. Bladetech DOH Winchester SX2 Fiber optic front. CCW & Choate Strippers. 3 gun gear vest. No malfunctions and only 10 sec in penalties for entire match.
  19. Does anybody have a way to keep gas from infiltrating the barrel threads and causing carbon deposits? I've pulled a few comps that stripped the barrel threads due to hard carbon deposits.
  20. +1 On the Clark Custom Fiber. Used one at the IRONMAN on several barrel burning rifle stages and it never heated up! Its super light weight and nice looking.
  21. We are about five days out from the RM3G. Shot it last year and had a great time. Who is going this year?
  22. I'll be there, looking forward to meeting you all.
  23. Had the same problem with a brand spankin new SX2. Called browning and they patched me through to the engineer. He stated that the SX2 was designed to shoot 1-1/4 oz loads. It will run 3-1/4 dram 1-1/8 oz loads like a dream. Shot numerous 3gun matches and the Ironman and the gun never choked. It will run the cheap 3 dram 1-1/8 ounce federal loads from wal-mart, but it will not run the 3 dram 1-1/8 ounce winchester loads from wal-mart. Consequently, I use 3-1/4 dram 1-1/8 ounce loads. On slugs the Remmy LE low recoil slugs run flawlessly. Gunny
