  1. Did CHRIS B. A56965 get 1 of the 16 slots? He sent his entry the Monday after the deadline and is anxious to know!
  2. If he is using someone elses reloads it's better to case gauge directly to the barrel you will be firing in. Cull the ones that don't drop out on their own and you have to poke it out. The reason is if you just use the case guage, some may not go all the way into battery due to different bullet profiles.
  3. Just noticed this. June 1st is a Sunday. So the last day you will receive carrier deliveries is tomorrow? Unless you hand deliver or some carrier delivers on Sunday. Is that right?
  4. Hiro, Maybe you could crash in Leo's truck with him... Later, Chuck Chuck, I'm going with the flow. Just take it easy. If our squad finishes in one day fine, 2 days no problem! I know Hiro and I are the only ones that shot and reshoot at Norco, but this is different. You want to squad with us! Peter, Jim, Lisa, John etc same as Norco. Leo
  5. I know you are a great smith. My friends STI mags run flawlessly! So can you please share your secret recipe! We are all shooting out of Glocks though. The case support is not as good as a STI. My primers are flat as a pancake with 8.2 of HS6 at 1.159 OAL zero 125jhp and is about the max you can go for OAL. I see in Tim Warners loading info you are using 9.0 of HS6 with the zero 115jhp. Is that a safer pressure than what I am using 8.2 hs6 with my 125 zero jhp. I want to try the 115s but scared!
  6. Ok. My KKM came and the amount chamber support looks about the same as the stock G34 barrel. In fact, my Briley and LWD barrels look equally supported. I think I recall an article saying that blow-outs due to non-fully supported chambers was most common on the .40 cal Glocks and that the 9mm is pretty well supported. To be safe you have to slowly increase your load checking for signs of excess pressure just like you did for your open glock. Be sure to first throat your barrel so you can load long. This will also lessen the pressure spike since your round is not up against the rifling. Check for enough throating by spinning your loaded round in the chamber with your finger and let it drop out on its own. Your chambered round should be loose in there with no sticking. I can't wait to get my barrel back! I'll start by loading up some "factory" equivalent stuff. After I get the SJC convertable, I'll start cranking it up until the comp is really working. Then I'll chrono to see if I'm making Major. I fear that it won't make Major... If a LWD drop in barrel is the right length you can get that and ask JR to throat it for you. Hopefully you won't need to spend more money on it! Right now we are all pioneers in building open 9 major.

  8. It may be ammo related also. If he is shooting reloads that were not carefully loaded Such as it has not been sized and crimped correctly or the bullet profile used is loaded at a too long OAL and not allowing it to go completely into battery. Both will leave that 1/8 out of battery gap causing the ruptures.
  9. The case support on the stock 9mm barrel is quite good. But to make sure look at your production brass. If it has bulges at the base, I wouldn't try it. My buddy who shoots a 9mm CZ tried my 9 major loads in his gun and it worked fine and felt good. The CZ is a heavy all steel gun though.
  10. I think you are still searching for the open 9 major glock setup that suits you. It's worth a try. You will be loading less powder to compensate for the increase in velocity with the longer g34 barrel. The KKM drop in barrel's case support is similar to the LWD's. Slide cracking who knows. Just check for cracks after every match. I still do that with my setup in G17c. All open glock 9s are subject to some form of failure sooner or later. Just have to keep on top of it.
  11. Wow! That certainly is a great picture of the case support! Thanks!
  12. That should work. I thought you were using a cmore. You know the Jpoint has just wires going to the led. There is nothing to break in there. I mounted mine to the slide's rear sight dovetail and have had no problems. Because the failed case ejected, I gave up trying to find it among the other brass. Wasn't a blown primer since I had no debri in the firing pin channel. Most likly was a small breech above the unsupported feed ramp with not enough force to blow out my mag or numb my fingers. The day was super hot at 105 degrees which contributed to the failure.
  13. You may or may not have an issue with ejection of the case because of the mount. 40 cases are larger and may hang up easier. Hope for the best! BTW I experienced my first case failure today. Felt hot gasses in by face and getting under my shooting glasses. But the gun cycled with that failed case and was able to continue shooting. Didn't feel a thing in my hands. Other than soot marks on my trigger finger, no numb hand or finger was experienced.

    lone wolf comp

Remember I told you guys this thing works! The comp is baffled. The side plates extends inward to diameter of the barrel so all gas is expelled before the bullet exists the comp. There is also a review in the current Front Sight. So far I've got 5000 major 9 rds thru mine without a case failure! All brass were picked up from the range. Recoil reduction definite makes it very comfortable to shoot. It is loud so I got Pro Mag Dimension 1 Plus for ears. Without these you will get a headache! I did drill the top holes out to 1/4 inch and elongated the first hole to the tip of the wolf's ear. Also welded up the bottom of the comp's openings so no gas is directed downwards.
  15. Just build one with the g17. It's fun, easy and cheap! All drop in parts! I already walked 2 guys in cloning mine and they all work. Since all the information is already posted on the forum you can do it yourself without any walking on my part! Build it, shoot it. If anything malfunctions, make it work. If anything breaks make it stronger. In the end you will have saved a ton of money in gunsmithing, have a butt ugly Glock open that works! Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that would be you!
  16. 9mm major also generates higher pressures thru the comp which in turn works the comp better.
  17. There is no mystery why I shoot open! Because it is there!
  18. I shoot a Jpoint boosted with dual 2016 batteries, and I have tried the Cmore on glocks and 2011s. So my Jpoint dot is just as bright as a cmore. Didn't seem much different besides the cmore being mounted higher. It's not like wow that is so much better I have to change to a cmore so I can shoot better. BTW I have yet to break a jpoint in 2 years so can't say how long it will last. It breaking is not even on my mind! But if you are worried you can have another in your shooting bag already sighted in on standby. It's plug and play!
  19. I wear medium sized gloves, and the G21 fits me perfectly. It should be rephrased from "it is for large hands only". To "The G21 is not recommended for small hands".
  20. +1 I have his kits in my g20 g21 g17c g34 BTW the total of these 4 kits cost me less than some pay for 1 kit of the competition!
  21. After the plug and play installation the mags all should drop free without binding. To my surprise my Dawson Ice did just that!
  22. The top holes are too small and after drilling them out, started to crack where I thinned them too much. The side baffles is what reduces the recoil. So if I redesigned it, I would keep those but not cut them so they expose themselves from the top of bottom. Then there will be more metal on top to cut 3 elongated top holes, and the bottom will be completely closed. AR15 comps all use the 1/2x28 threads, so you can actually put one of those on and just ream out . I wonder how it would run with a Holland AR15 comp!
  23. Let us know how it goes! Most are scared to build a open glock 9 and that's why I started this thread. I succeeded, but well most still do. The 40 is the safe alternative also with very inexpensive drop in parts. PLINK and I are giving JR inputs about building a more durable comp. Maybe you can give him your 2 cents too!
  24. Factory ammo makes major, but you will more likely have more muzzle flip. When you say wear it out, do you mean your gun is getting looser or rattling like a glock! How many rounds? The way I built my major 9, it's all plug and play with drop in parts. Right now the only thing that's wearing is the comp. Everything else is wearing the same as if I were shooting production which is nil. But if anything does go, I will just replace it myself.
