  1. +1 This is not handgun related, but the same thing happened to me with an AR @100. all sighted in, winds picked up to a nice 20mph with 30-35 gusts, I shoot 10 rounds, great elevation sub moa but 8" l-r on either side of the X. I over compensated for the wind and didn't realize. Don't fight the wind is what I learned from that outing.
  2. Only point and shoot is from the hip, if you have been shooting for awhile you are aiming, whether you know it or not, muscle memory might get you on target but you are still looking down the barrel and your sights will be inline, just out of focus, Aiming is so over-rated when it comes to speed, focusing on the sights is where you start the first time you pull the trigger, it's why people shoot so badly in the beginning, as you recognize what your blurry sights should look like to hit your traget is when you start to get faster. In a year you may forget what your sights look like in-focus.
  3. ; ; I want your gun, that's actually what I was looking at getting when I finally get an STI. I have decided on the edge, heard nothing but the best of raves from shooters of other guns that wished they still had their STI. That is one beauty to look at and I bet to shoot.
  4. Hopefully the headline got your attention. Me and my father where playing a mental game, what would happen if POTUS showed up to a 3Gun match? I like to help time and spot at matches, set targets, I don't even mind staying late to tear-down from time to time if my back doesn't hurt to badly. Just thinking of the logistics if I were POTUS and wanted to go to a 3Gun event, would secret Service need metal detectors? I mean it's not liek people are hiding their guns, so could we get rid of those? If I were to try and help tiem a stage and SS got in the way, would that be considered RO interference and justify a reshoot? Would it be bad form to tell SS to get their guns out and make them participate in the match, I mean they had better be good shots, so this might inspire trust in them, maybe, I'd hate to find out I ( remember I'm POTUS) I'm a better shot then they are. Just something to think about, lol.
  5. I need help in this thread. I am wantign to get into 3gun, I have all the gear you could want for CAS but I only have a rifle for 3gun, I know what pistol I will be getting soon, an STI Edge in 9mm. I've done IPSC with a SAA and don't care too much for single gun disciplines, not my cup of Monster™. Your experience with the sizing of the ELS belts, I wear a 38 waist, which is not a snug fit, but not loose, for the underbelt if I were to get the 40in would it overlap too much and create a need to order a larger ELS belt? The 6004 UFA drop adapter I want to put on the ELS34 backing I guess I will need the drop attachment so I can ditch the belt loop attachment, is this correct? Also on the Safariland website they show a shotshell caddy attached to the hoslter, is that with a ELS34/35 or just screwed right to it, I have long arms so the reach to a thigh holster or even shotshells on the holster won't be an issue. Which holster is the correct one for an STI Edge with Tritium Sights? does the Edge and Tactical share the same outside dimensions, only advertised STI I could find for a holster. How many ELS35's will I need, I'm kinda guessing 10: 1) holster 2) shotshell holder on holster? 3-8) for shell caddies along front of belt 9) dual mag holder 10) ar mag holder in back. Just a few questions about the ELS system. I got to see it for the first time up close yesterday, but why is it you can never think of the right questions when you have the chance?
  6. I don't see what your complaining about, you have more than 5 rounds in your gun, try doing them with a SAA .45 colt, no reloading, lol.
  7. +1 very classy lady, be sure to thank her.
  8. I appreciate the thanks, I've been reading pretty steady since yesterday when I joined, wow, there is so much out there in the ways of mods of stock guns and ammo loads, all I can say is I'm so lucky my dad likes to reload ammo, and he has all this knowledge to help me get the best loads for each weapon and it's particular needs.
  9. I'm new to 3gun (well I hope to get into it), but I have a few years of competative shooting, that was alot of great advice by the OP. I have something to add and it's something that alot of people overlook, "Don't out-shoot your skills". I say that because you will inevatably try and go too fast from one stage to the next, you will start to make mistakes and like most shooters will understand the quicksand concept. There is nothing worse than a "miss" except more "misses". When things go down hill just remember to STOP take a breathe gather your sight picture and go back to hitting your targets. Actually the most important thing when the buzzer starts is to continue to breathe, you will be amazed at how many people stop breathing when that buzzer sounds, you will get out of breath and that will throw shots off. Cheapest practice in the world is taking your guns and setting up small targets inside your house and just aiming at them, this helps you get the muscle-memory started and familar with the feel of your guns, I've never read Enos's book but I imagine (from what I have heard of him) he is quite smart and addresses this there. As always like Noximus03 said, saftey first and always.
  10. Other than the super swager, is there a more economical way of de-crimping the brass? I do imagine if you buy alot of surplus ammo then that tool is much better using the hand tool, probably alot more acurate also. I got about 2k rounds to swage so any help woudl be nice, but I'm just getting into this so I'm sorta strapped for the scratch. Thanks for any ideas, if I do go with the super swager, is that trick on the internet using the spring violate teh warranty, or is this something that woudl break in the first place?
  11. Just thought I'd stop in and introduce myself. I plan on getting into 3gun. I have so many questions and so short on the Greenbacks I got the Rifle and some ammo, glad I got it when I did. I need a pistol and shotgun, sorta settled on an STI Edge in 9mm and I'm thinking I should go with a Rem.1100. Not new to shootng, just been on a long hiatus. Went to my first 3gun at 3 Mils Right by St. Jo, TX and all I can say is wow, this looks like this has to be the bemost fun shooting discipline there can be. I guess you can call me CAS transplant ;p. I wont bore you all too much with questions here, if you could point me to some threads about some good set-ups for holsters, shotguns and pistols. I ask because I have the worst luck with search engines on forums for some reason. Here's a shot of my Rifle:
