  1. It depends on if they are in or out of spec on the width. If they are out of spec then no, just loading them for a couple days wont work. It looks like it is out of spec and needs to be closed to the appropriate width. (hard to tell though on pics) I just did this to a couple mags this weekend and they are much better. I used a vise to close the width but you could use other tools. Take a look at Freedom gunworks vendor section for a awesome writeup on tuning mags and it will give you the specs on the width you should be shooting for and how to go about doing it. It shouldn't be a big deal to fix and doing it helped me get a better under standing of how everything works together which will help diagnose issues in the future. If you're DIY it's not hard Or...send them to a smith to tune them
  2. I just got the Nitro FIn and put it on my Executive. It is awesome, I wasn't looking for recoil reduction specifically. Since switching from glock to an sti I found that I had trouble locking in and indexing my support hand on the gun. The glock has a recess that allowed me to really cam my hand forward and lock in my grip. I tried tape on the sti but was looking for a more positive index. The NF is in the perfect spot for me to really lock in my grip. I don't push down on the rest but more push away from it to wedge my support hand. It didn't affect my shooting negatively but made a much more consistent index and pressure. I had a little fitting to do but nothing major. I also have bladetech DOH which I had to take the dremel to to create a channel for the rest to slide through. It didn't require loss of any strength and the screw pattern line up perfectly. great product if you're having trouble with consistent index or hand placement.
  3. I just got an STI executive, is it a custom gun, no... but my shooting can't tell the difference. I will have a custom one day but for the time being it is an awesome gun. I think you would be much better off buying a brazos or other tuned gun and not dealing with the wait time and spend the balance on reloading. You can buy a lot of reloading components with the difference in your budget and at the end of the day, your gun is really worthless if you don't have the ammo to shoot it!! If you are shooting limited, you need a .40, you can load it to shoot like a 9 if you want but you will soon regret a nine and being held to the scoring associated with it
  4. Before you get a full length rod buy a light recoil master spring and try it. I have one in my exec and like it. I will end up with a flgr but until then it's 7 bucks and makes it much better. Worth a try Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I too recently got an executive and load from 1.18-1.2 depending on bullet, ie I keep my seating die the same and let the different bullets seat where they end up based on their shape. It keeps it simple for me and consistent for each bullet type. For example, 180 gr BBI are 1.2", Berry 180 gr FP 1.19", etc. Charges vary accordingly but this way I'm not messing with the seating every time I switch bullets. Long story short, they all work in my Exec with no issue. I haven't tried any factory fodder out of it yet though to see what it's like on the short end Let us know how the CFE works for you, I have a couple lbs of it but am using IMR PB for the time being
