Whatever you need to tell yourself.

    ????

I've installed 3 of the upgraded bushings, definite improvement every time but my most accurate gun does not have one and the amount of improvement varied from 'challenging to measure' to 'big smiley face'. If you have tinkered with CZ's much you have seen that there is a great deal of variance gun to gun, not as bad as Tanfo's though (or so it seems).

I know people may want to try my guns,  but I generally don't do it if they're not familiar with them.

This was stupid, I know many will be inclined to point out that it was stupid but it would be redundant at this point as I am aware that it was stupid.

Guy showed up at a match & forgot his gun. I loaned him my back up gun, same model but better trigger. 2nd stage into the match he launched one over the berm.

If he had shot himself or someone else would a lawyer be able to take my home & savings? Do not know.

If you can’t give clear commands that support safety, then you are part of the problem.

safety is the responsibility of the person running the range,

(USPSA) If you do not use the range commands specified in the book you will flunk the field part of the r.o. course. Emphasis is placed on everyone using the exact same commands consistently and clearly.

Again, USPSA, safe gun handling is the responsibility of the shooter and only the shooter. Other aspects of safety fall on the r.o. but the r.o. is in no way accountable for something like a 180 break or a holstering error.

It wasn’t a frivilous lawsuit at all. CNN wants you to believe it was. And that AR15’s are evil.

The CNN reference is just nasty.

Cavemen have been been drinking freshly boiled coffee around campfires since the beginning of time, a few days before actually. Somebody should probably sue because fire is hot also and will do a number on you if you stick your naughty bits in it.

If the world has moved on to cold coffee and participation trophies (and pcc) it is what it is I guess.

I think that improving the speed I can manipulate the trigger will scale into every pull of the trigger. If .25 is no longer as fast as I can pull the trigger it can start to be a controlled pull for a 15 yard target instead of .35 like I do now. If I pick up .1 on every split that can be 1.6 seconds on a field course!

For point and shoot hoser stages I could see the math working out about as noted, else for me (about 0.20 second splits into a berm) I'm shooting as fast as the front sight lets me.

This is why we can't have nice things.

And "scalding hot" was never a surprising thing when you ordered hot coffee.

How close you can - or should - be, depends on the stage too.

I've blocked a shooters arm as he was swinging around toward the squad (and been thanked for it) so I won't say it never happens that being close helps, as a general rule I think you are better off to control the shooter with your voice & give them ample room to react quickly and unexpectedly.

I wasn’t there, but one of the local clubs had a guy with a negligent discharge while holstering with his finger on the trigger and he shot himself through the leg.

Is the guy suing? Have not been able to verify but have been told there is a lawsuit ongoing for a similar situation.

Like slavex, I send it. I've always been taught the #1 cause of malfunction is a poorly seated mag.

Seems unlikely I'm gonna drill that reflex out of me. Under duress (slide lock with timer running!) I believe I'd revert back to mag slammer.

I don't think you will have an issue with CZ's (at least I never did). With Tanfo's being a mag slammer at slide lock can end up making you the guy that was having a good match and then really screwed the pooch on 1 stage.

Under duress, it is still very easy to remember after it has bitten you once, sticks in your mind almost as well as a dq.

  10. I just do everything from the git go so my only advice is that for me it was way worth it to buy a spare sear pin to use as the slave pin when putting things back together. If you start with a slave pin that is very close in diameter you may be good to go though, a too loose fit that lets things pivot around can make you crazy.

I would not be scared of it, it can be a pain & require some patience but it is no hill for a climber. I would say that the improvement is too little to worry about if you just do not want to do it or would prefer to put it off till winter.

The biggest thing for me is.. only pulling the trigger enough to fire.. and not pinning it all the way back..then I can reset/pull smoother.. this week is all about that.

Not sure what kind of gun you have, on my guns the amount of over travel is too little to matter. I suspect that there is a trigger kit available that would make this a non-issue for yours unless you prefer to stay stock and fix it through training.

It seems like shooting this array at 10 - 25 yards is helping me with my front sight tracking. The zebra on the right seems to sort of outline the front sight and make it easier to track up and down, I try to maintain that tracking and alpha only discipline on all 3.

Looks like just a custom-designed frame weight with some added cocking serrations. I would assume he's just trying to add weight at the muzzle to keep it as flat as possible under recoil.

Dang, now everybody has to throw away their lightened slide and go buy a heavied (that will be a word soon) slide.

    It is interesting.

I'd shoot limited. You don't get any advantages from shooting a 40s&w in Production.

I really like the recoil of a 180 grain bullet + fast powder pushed at around 140 power factor, that is a personal thing though.

The advantage you do get is that you are not the person who gets the mike when a popper doesn't go down on a good hit but then falls when hit with a calibration test shot, and you are not waiting what seems like hours for steel activators to fall or feeling a need to double tap to save time. It is not a big deal but if you shoot 9 at 130 ish power factor every once in a while you will get screwed on steel targets.

Yep when people would have trouble hitting what they want I always recommend they do that so they can feel themselves throwing the gun.

Reading a few posts, it seems as simple as a lot of folks do not see the sight lift when they need to and call the shot. Perhaps I am missing something.

    ok, pet rowdy peeve time.

if you could lock your car door in a so-so neighborhood by slamming the door hard instead of using the button to lock it, would you do so? i mean, it's simpler and one less step. oh, but it has to be slammed just so to work. no you wouldn't. but a person is doing the same thing in my opinion by depending on and making the auto forward their primary method.

And it tends to be slower if you time yourself shot - reload - shot.

    But it looks cool.

And then there are folks who are left handed & some guns without ambi controls.

and if you can find one the Limited Pro.

Should be findable. Patriot Defense is importing a new version that is blued & uses CZ style mags, I think they are taking pre-orders, I have been told that they still make weight.

There is a Unicorn in the classifieds (shameless plug).

Well it's all kind of crap anyways. The Sig X5 has a heavy bull barrel but it's been deemed legal. And it's longer than 4.25 inches. I'm not a big IDPA fan. But it beats not shooting.

My last straw was when they outlawed my CCP gun (4" XD) by changing the rules so that it was 1/4" too tall. May soften eventually but I think they have permanently converted me to just steel & USPSA.

I'll give it to him that he was accurate, but probably the slowest shooter there.

I shot on a squad with a couple navy seals once. They were not the slowest shooters there but they were very deliberate & very accurate. I do not know if it reflects intent in training or if perhaps it just reflects that rapid fire pistol shooting is a really low priority in the big picture.

While I had the chance I asked them if it was true that "choking out" people was a thing (mentioned In Chris Kyle's book), yep, they said that it happens.

so I slam the mag home to ensure the slide closes.

If I do that I have occasional feed problems, period. I can get shot to shot faster with a smooth reload instead of a slam reload & I make it a habit of thumbing the release whether or not I need to on the rare occasions that I have run to slide lock. Unless you are left handed and using a gun set up for normal humans (or otherwise have trouble hitting the release) the slide closing on its own does not save any time.
