  1. That's a really beauty Gennaro, I assume you made the comp yourself? Tell us about the evolution of it?
  2. The frame is very hard, but anything is possible, however only one of the new holes would line up with the old and one would overlap, so you'd either have to plug/weld the old ones or skip it and have a oddly spaced six hole pattern. A custom mount is easier if you ask me.
  3. I've been playing with a 10mm Hunter, dreaming of the ultimate 6" Limited Tanfo and wondering: has anyone had any issues shooting .40 out of a 10mm chamber? I know in theory the round could slip in front of the extractor and slide into the chamber, but has anyone had that happen? I haven't had any issues, but I've only fired maybe a box of ammo though it, does anyone else shoot this way and have some experience to share?
  4. +1 on the EGW hammer, but if you do want to buy EG parts in the US, call Jim Bodkin in Texas.
  5. Sounds like a warn hammer, sear or both; how many rounds through it?
  6. Tommy, I don't see any Tanfo comps on the EGW site, do you have to call and ask?
  7. I feel your pain Mark, the best thing to do is buy a 2011 mount w/o holes, machine 0.080" off the mounting surface and drill two holes (it won't be wide enough for all three).
  8. This is the frame you shot, aluminum CZ trigger and a custom top end which started life as a long slide 9x21 with a 5.5" barrel. It was too long, too heavy with a lack luster comp, so I put a new 4.75" 9x19 barrel in it, cut back the slide 3/4" (not easy...) and modified the comp. I've since drilled three holes in the barrel and have a few other mods in mind...
  9. Try the freezer! I recently build a new work bench out of a 1 1/2" butcher block kitchen table I got off Craigslist and bolted the corner with the vise to the ground with a pipe stand and sight come out really easy now Also, how heavy is the hammer you're using? I use a 10 oz ball peen hammer.
  10. I wouldn't know about 1911s and 9mm, I only shoot CZ75 pattern pistols which were designed for 9x19
  11. The heat is in case there's red loctite under it.
  12. Never mind, it's new right? Stick it in a freezer for a half hour and try again. How are you securing the slide? You need a really solid base.
  13. I've never inquired but let us know what you find out
  14. An idea popped into my head once which with all my projects I've never made it a priority: drill a small dimple at the intersection of each of the stock waffles, I could start with a sixteenth inch ball end mill, then if that isn't cheese grater enough move to 3/32". I think by the time you got to 1/8" it would be pike a bed of nails Plus if it didn't work out I could always grind it all off. While grip tape isn't as classy as checkering, it works pretty great.
  15. Maybe it's different with 2011s, but I only got 13 in a 140mm mag with a grams follower in my Tanfoglio.
  16. 13 rounds vs 21. I would shoot L10 with a 45.
  17. Have you compared it to a Dawson, A-Zone or Brazos comp?
