  1. QUOTE: "This goes directly against the rules that IDPA and Bill Wilson created....Guess that's why IPSC was formed" IPSC was 1st - not a response to IDPA. Apparently Bill Wilson is nothing but a self serving capitalist pig. I would wager that Wilson has put a lot more time and effort into IDPA than any related profit he has made - I bet he was doing just fine prior to IDPA. I get so tired of the Wilson bashing. If you think you are being taken advantage of by Bill Wilson, go shoot IPSC. Ed
  2. Don't most folks use a silk smoking jacket???????
  3. Quote: [no one carries the ten rounders.] Lets see: Officers Model 7 round Colt CCO 7 round Colt Pocket 9 6 round I would guess that many carry less that 10 round carry guns. Ed
  4. Carrying this to the extreme - if you live where you can have a full auto Glock -----------?
  5. Ah Carmoney - You are now infused with the wisdom of the ages (or at least the range!!) Ed
  6. I finally get it - it is the replacement for a revolver!!!! I assume it is digital??????? Ed
  7. The problem is most of us don't want controversy, so we kinda just look the other way - why piss off someone you shoot with all the time. Then you have to get in the shouting match over assessing the FTDR. Sometimes we take "giving the benefit of the doubt" beyond reasonable to avoid trouble.
  8. If I really know the shooter, and I am the SO, I would give a FTDR. For example, an IPSC Grand Master who obviously dumps a round on the last target before a reload. But, it would also depend upon the circumstances (e.g. that last target is a really difficult shot and the shooter slows way down - no FTDR). Damn hard call in many instances - if in doubt, no FTDR. Ed
  9. Classifications: Unclassified Novice Marksman Sharpshooter Expert Master High Master Special Master Grand Master (Woops, wrong sport) Super Master Pro Master Divisions: Revolver Stock Service Pistol Carry Triger Stock Service Pistol Competition Trigger Etc, Etc, Etc... Enhanced Service Pistol .40 Cal Carry Trigger 125.00004 Power Factor Actually, I agree with Ron - the classification system may need a tweek. Ed Vernon
  10. I too am right handed and 'left eyed." I have never had a problem. I even have a reading perscription in the upper left lens so that I can see the front sight clearer (actually, it is an upside down bifocal). Ed
  11. Nicely tell them it is a no-no, and if they do it again they will be chopped into little pieces, boiled in oil, run over by a truck, and the remains dumped in a sewer. Or at least that they will get a FTDR next time. Ed
  12. It seems to me, from watching the people I shoot with, that about 99% of the time they classify the same regardless of the gun. With that said, I suppose that if I am shooting CDP with a 1911 5", and SSP with a Glock 27, I might not shoot as well with the short barreled Glock. The counter agruement to that is the shooter at one of our matches (Master IDPA and Master IPSC) was 1st overall in the match with a .40 small Glock!
  13. Why do you have to shoot one classifier for CDP and another for ESP. For example: 1911 .45 in CDP, and then need to shoot the classifier a 2nd time for your 1911 in .40 for ESP. It makes no sense to me. If you classify as a _____, then you should be a ____ in all divisions. Ed
  14. Maybe for revolvers, but otherwise, makes no sense to me. Ed
  15. To quote Billski: "I think that this thing of having seperate classifications for different guns is kind of silly." I have been thinking the same thing for a long time. Regardless of the division, I seem to shoot about the same with my CDP .45, my ESP .40, and my SSP Glock. Why multiple classifiers???? Ed
  16. Vincent, I agree, we need to follow the rules to the extent that they exist. The difficulty is that as we agree, they do not cover all situations. The problem, as I see it, is that given any three shooters, they have at least four opinions on any given subject! Regards, Ed
  17. "That reminds me of the infamous quote at a recent Nationals that "the rules are just guidelines". What a crock! IDPA is a sport. The sport has rules. These rules are in the rulebook." Thus, if it is not prohibited in the rule book, I can do it????? Then what is the point of a failure to do right??? Thus, your statement is not completely accurate. Not everything is listed in the rule book.
  18. "The rules do not say....." That sounds like IPSC. Read the entire rule book in context - what is the spirit of the game - follow IDPA principals.
  19. Rule 17, Page 32: "Courses of fire may require that while firing a stage, no loaded ammunition carriers ...may be left behind..." Accordingly, the action may or may not result in a procedural. At my "home club" we apply a general rule that no rounds may be left behind, with the exception that after a tactical reload, if a valid effort is made to stow the magazine, no penalty. Thus, I would have applied the penalty at our club.
  20. I have always shot the classifier just under the master level. However, at all local matches I shoot expert CDP, and very often place in the top three in CDP expert. I signed up for the California State match as expert. I think personally that whatever you shoot on a regular basis, regardless of class, is what you really are. (Many of those who I compete against at the local level have shot the classifier at the expert level).
  21. Training - yes, no, yes, no. Perhaps it could be best described as practicing what you have already been trained for. Assuming, of course that you choose to use it that way. On the other hand, I certainly do use it to practice some things, and ignore others for the purpose of competition. You can make of it what you choose.
  22. Blade-Tech. You can borrow mine and try it if you wish. Ed Vernon
