  1. The only time ive had this issue is while using high cap mags that are down loaded to 10 rounds. With the extra slack in the mag spring due to down loading, i think the stack of rounds bounces and causes this. Its annoying so for idpa i just use my cali 10 rd mags. In uspsa i almost never go to slide lock so its not a problem. There is a happy medium that works where u can seat the mag hard but not so hard that the rounds bounce.
  2. I put my digital caliper on the front sight of my .40 Pro a couple of days ago; the width was .130 but my height measurement came in at .185 from the top of the slide - and there is a gap between the top of the slide and the bottom of the sight (a piece of paper folded in half will slide in easily but three layers will not quite make it). Yeah mines a 9 fs. I believe the pro has different sights from the factory. Theyre taller and fiber optic. A folded piece of paper also fits under mine. But not 3...had to check lol
  3. "I dont sell crap ammo. Everything i stock is quality" Followed by "Yes the tula is over there next to winchester" ....
  4. Thats factory specs^ The notch:post ratio is totally preference. As long as you dont go too drastically in either direction youll be fine. I switched to warren fiber front, plain rear with the u notch and love it for uspsa.
  5. I went through the same dilemma. Called S&W twice and finally got the right answer. Front Sight Width: 0.130, Height: 0.160 (from slide), 0.230 (total) Rear Sight Notch: 0.140, Height: 0.170 (from slide), 0.240
  6. That dsg looks nice but pretty pricey. Has anyone used this? http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=111242/pid=54744/Product/Competition-Belt
  7. The Safariland ELS outer belt is 1.75". It is velcro lined so you can use it as a traditional inner/outer belt set-up. Another option is the DSG Arms Competition belt. They are 1.75" inner and outer. Good luck, -Randy Oh didnt realize the els had velcro. Interesting. And it leaves the option open in the future for using the actual els system with different gear.
  8. Yeah i also considered putting 1/4" of some good epoxy in there.
  9. So i kinda screwed myself. I started out with a wilderness instructor style belt at 1.75" for ipsc/idpa. Then i ordered custom mag holders at 1.75" to go with it. It works OK but the mags sit real close to my love handles. Now that im a super amazing elite competition master (done 4 matches lol) im looking at a double belt velcro setup like CR speed or DAA, but everything im finding is 1.5". I even looked at some Bianchi tactical type of stuff but thats all 2". Anyone know of a good 1.75" velcro outer that wont require me to replace all my mag holders? As a last resort i might have to go with the Safariland ELS style but id much rather go with velcro. Thanks for any help.
  10. Make sure to wear a hockey jersey. And match fees must be paid with bennigans gift cards or internet money only.
  11. Btw im still running the factory trigger on my m&p. Am i the only one in the world who thinks its really not that bad? Sure out of the box my GFs xd feels lighter but its a minor difference. Ill probably get the apex eventually but its not a deal breaker for me.
  12. You can definitely get the trigger the way you want it on an m&p between the apex competition kit or gunsmith work. And dont let the mag disconnect sway your opinion. Its an easy 15 minute, $1 uninstall job. Just get a #1 spring from a hardware store and youtube it. I have no gunsmithing experience whatsoever and did it with ease. Ive shot a few XDs and they are great guns no doubt but i personally dislike them for the same reasons as you, plus they have a higher sitting barrel which means slightly more felt recoil. Granted its not a huge deal, but one more thing to consider.
  13. Well im sure that would work. Im using warren fiber optic sight (which is slightly taller than stock) with plain black rear. But i had the same issue with the stock sights so im thinking its something else.
  14. Dont bother watching a match. Browse the rulebook, find out where they have matches near you and just go shoot! Sounds like your gun will put you in production class. Show up early to the match, talk to people and learn about the safety rules and just go for it man! You will want atleast 3 mags for your gun, 5 is better. And a holster and atleast a few mag holders. After your first match youll know bwtter what u need. Have fun be safe!
  15. Ive been shooting my 9 fullsize for about 6 months now. It consistently shoots high. At 10 yds or less its just barely above the sight but at around 25-30 yds its hitting 4-6 inches high. It could be me but its so consistent and predictable that ive gotten used to it. Is this normal poi for an m&p or do i have an issue? I like being able to see my target at longer distances but it seems like it should be a little closer to poa to me. Ive read about the early unlocking issues and all that, not sure if thats my problem but i went ahead and ordered an ISMI 17# recoil spring (factory is 16#). I figured it could be a cheap fix or atleast serve as a backup for when my factory spring wears out. For the record i shoot mainly 115gr cheap stuff (federal, wwb, etc). Any thoughts? Thanks.
  16. Im new to competition as well but id say your goals are right on point. Shoot zeros nice and slow. Let the speed come with time. And if the match is outdoors you may want to bring an air can (computer duster) or atleast a rag. Any mags dropped in the dirt need a quick cleaning to avoid malfunctions. Be safe and have fun!
  17. If you use it as a home defense or carry gun as well, i would say its good at 4.5, and you definitely shouldnt go any lower than 3. If its a competition only gun you can probably go lower but anything below 3 is a little unsafe and not necessary for idpa in my opinion. Idpa is all about practicing with your carry gear so no need to trick it out too much. "Run what you brung" as they say. Be safe have fun!
  18. I dont have a glock, but on my m&p i just use skateboard tape. $5 got enough to wrap my gun like 50 times and you can cut out whatever shapes u want. However it can start to peel up after a bit if youre rough on it.
  19. For uspsa and idpa i definitely take my eyes off target for a few reasons. -reloading is easier for me if i can see the magwell, which i bring right up to almost eye level -im usually moving to a different array or shooting position while reloading so theres no target to look at. But for steel im sure it doesnt always work out that way. To each his own.
  20. Lol no, i kinda laughed while typing that and thought i must be atleast a little redneck because that would probably keep me entertained for awhile.
  21. Good stuff. Even the most basic and seemingly obvious points can ne very beneficial when read again.
