  1. They are posted on 3GN website under the match tab, TTS in the club series matches. Once I get home I can put up a list as well here.
  2. We are 2/3 full for the match! Looking forward to seeing all of you out there. Get the word out and let's fill the remaining slots!
  3. Have him shoot me an email. I can get it changed rather quickly. No worries.
  4. Shoot it to the best of your ability. As a benchmark, it makes sense, but that is about it. Sandbagging, intentially is not a good thing for yourself or your self esteem. I have seen shooters shoot and practice the classifier to get to EX, then get decimated at a sanctioned match. Last classifier I shot was ESP at 89.87. Just missed MA. Does it bother me? You bet it does. 1 point less down and then I would be MA in ESP as well. My current classifications are SSP:MA, ESP:EX, CDP:EX. Being able to perform at a match outweighs what a piece of paper says you are. I have had horribly bad matches, and matches that were on autopilot where I could not do a thing wrong. Practice what matters, not a benchmark. Then go shoot matches and find out where you really stand.
  5. Thanks!!! Looking forward to seeing you all out there. Update: We have 23 open slots and we have surpassed the half full point. Any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time!
  6. EGW. Then hard fit. If I was going to do it again, and the gun was only going to be used for comp, I would put in a Briley Spherical.
  7. I had that problem with mine. After chasing it around for a bit, installing a few different front sights, I was not happy. Replaced the bushing, problem solved. There was just enough play to throw it low. I have a Dawson front, and a 10-8 rear on mine, and she is POA/POI, locks up super tight and runs flawlessly.
  8. I think IDPA can be advantagous as well. It has worked reasonably well for me. You can use it for entry / exit live fire practice,as well as slowing down for sight picture verification, utilizing fundamentals. In and out of positions is great practice, no matter what shooting sport. I can say that I have never had an issue with stowing mags or ducking behind cover...but I see it quite a lot. It is a mental thing more than anything else. I shoot USPSA for speed and accuracy at speed, and as many multigun matches, shotgun matches and rifle matches as possible. Being able to retain focus is a skill hard learned. The whole is always the sum of its parts, and the more that someone can isolate and learn from any shooting sport, can be effectively applied to any other shooting sport, just make sure you are playing by the right rules mentally!
  9. Please shoot me an email. Are you trying to get the 4 classifiers for the points series in 2 divisions?
  10. Staff is setting up the match and shooting it on Saturday the 28th,the official match date is September 29th.
  11. From the third page, second paragraph. Members must shoot 1 classifier in order to receive a 3GN ranking and compete in 4 Classifiers to be eligible for the Points series. After shooting more than 4 Classifiers, only the top 4 scores will contribute to the shooters ranking and overall Points. I hope this clears this up, as it is confusing at first!
  12. The initial classification is 1 classifier, but 4 for points series. Here is an example: I shoot 4 classifier stages Tac Ops (TO), get classified and able to earn points in the series. I shoot 1 classifier stage Tactical Irons (TI) and get an initial classification. I shoot 1 classifier stage Heavy Metal (HM) and get an initial classification. This match is set up so that you can get your initial, as well as points series classification all at one match, and in multiple divisions if you so choose. I have had multiple shooters ask already if they can classify in multiple divisions, and we have devised a way to flow the match. You are more than welcome to get classified in multiple divisions; in fact, the example above is how I will be shooting it. Hope it helps, and hope to see you out there!
  13. I have seen more than one "pro" show up at a match with both Major and Minor rigs, walk and decide if the match would yield a better result due to stage planning with the extra rounds. Not as uncommon as everyone thinks. You are spot on about transitions, movement and breakdown. I fully agree that planning for follow up shots is not a good mentality, however the ability to pull it off can be quite advantageous if needed. But should depend on match stage design, not basing the decision off of skill level. That would be planning for failure. I tried the 40 loaded to minor for IDPA. Bigger hole was also advantageous there, but in a time plus like most 3 gun matches, do you notice any benefit? I am curious as I might give it a go once the upper is complete.
  14. I shoot limited minor as well as SS Minor from time to time. My 2011 was built so I could stay with one platform for 3 Gun, IDPA ESP and Limited or Limited 10 (minor). I also shoot production and limited major. I have a major top end coming for the same gun, hopefully soon. Shooting SS, there is a definitive advantage in some, but not all stage designs to shoot minor. Shooting limited minor, in arrays of 8, gives you 2 arrrays before reload for both major and minor, no advantage whatsoever unless you can shoot all alphas faster than everyone else. Shooting SS is different though, you can save a reload here and there, and have a makeup round or 2 if needed without forcing a standing reload. The post above is absolutely correct about a heavy steel stage giving advantage to minor, but that is where it about ends. Shoot what you have and have a great time, that's what matters. Often, those of us in it to win it forget that is the reason we all started shooting in the first place.
  15. I run a STI Spartan for SS Minor and as a backup for IDPA: EGW Melt Bushing fit to factory barrel, SV Short Flat Trigger, S&A Magwell blended, VZ Grips, Ed Brown extended mag release, Ed Brown Match Extractor, 15# mainspring, 9# recoil spring, Shock Buff, Trigger job on factory sear and disconnector, Replaced hammer with SVI hammer, Aluminum Guiderod (for 43 oz weight reasons) and skate tape on the front strap. Then polished the hell out of everything.15.6 oz trigger pull now that it has settled. I run BBI 147 moly and feed thru Wilson ETM mags with zero issues. 133-135 PF, Non Ramped Barrel and all. Honestly I could not tell you what it really shot like fresh, as I made all of the mods immediately after getting it. The gun would not run worth a crap new. She's ugly now, bluing worn off from kydex and table starts, and has over 50,000 rounds down the pipe. I do not think there is anything wrong with any of them if you are willing to put enough time and money into them to make them your own.
  16. I run drills, drills and more drills. Work on movement and dry fire at home (yes my wife thinks I am nutz, but I do not care) and at the range. Shoot a lot of USPSA for speed and I shoot IDPA fo accuracy and shooting position practice. Good mixture of live vs dry. When running drills, work on one, maybe two things at a time, not all of them. I set up a drill every month that I use all 3 on, but I run it left, right, and then center-right, center-left. That is for transitioning between weapons more than accuracy, and mixing in loading while moving complicates it a bit, but it has worked for me.
  17. I use the 75/25 mix. I also clean quite often. If you run 2,3 or 400 rounds with enough, but not excessive lube, the carbon will not build up, and is easy to clean well. Look at it like this; If I leave dirty lube in place, heat and carbon cook it off and carbon builds up making a carbon paste (scoring also becomes an issue) the next time it is used. If I do not have enough lube in place, the carbon bakes onto areas where it does affect performance. Next use: Damage is quite possible. Both scenarios=bad. Under gas piston rings= super bad. Find the routine that YOUR gun requires, and stick to it. It does not matter what or who's gun it is. For the record, I have a M2 as well, but have not used it in comp, and probably never will as it is a 20Ga. The maintenance required for the M2 varies greatly from the 930's, and should be approached as such. Every gun has its own quirks, and if you are going to run it in comp, you need to know every one of them if you expect to have no malfunctions caused by the gun. Ammo and shooter induced issues; well you are on your own there.
  18. We have fixed the signup issue, we are back on track. If you are one of the shooters who could not complete the signup process, please visit matchsignup.com again. Sorry for the confusion.
  19. I have 2. One is a problem child, the other is unstoppable so far. In all fairness, the standard 930 that was heavily modified is much less reliable than the 24" JMP that I have been running for about a year now. Maintenance is what I found, and how you maintain it is the key. I found that the gas rings and pistons are the pieces that have to be focused on. My JMP has well over 7000 on it, and rarely (I cannot remember the last hiccup) does it go south. I clean regularly, and break down fully before a match. I think that the choice of lube may also be contributing to these issues. I found that a thinner lube works better. I run 75% Syn Gear Oil and 25% Syn Trans Fluid on all of my guns. I get no carbon buildup that has to be scraped clean, it all wipes off after giving it a bath in BrakeClean! I have a spare trigger group, as well as a supply of springs in case I need them. I found no issues with getting parts from Mossberg, but I had bought them before the shortage / panic, that may have something to do with it. They all are finiky, you just have to know how to treat them!
  20. Thunder Tactical Shooters is happy to announce our first 3GN Club Series Match, in cooperation with Kidlat Shooters and Pacleb Ranch for September 29th, 2013. The match signup will be handled with www.matchsignup.org and is available now under Thunder Tactical Shooters 3 Gun Nation Match. The match will consist of six (6) classifier stages for ranking within the National Club Series, and the cost is $40.00 for the match, including range and classification fees. We will be limiting the match to 50 shooters, and entries are expected to fill up fast. The match will be held at Pacleb ranch, and full details will be sent out to all competitors after registering for the match. Depending on initial turnout, we may add a scenario stage as well to the match. We will have details posted on our website, www.tts-idpa.net, 3 Gun Nation website, and I can be reached at tts3gn@gmail.com to answer any questions. We will now be holding regular matches 4 times a year (once a quarter) consisting of 8-10 stages with extended range tagets incorporated. We will be scheduling these after our initial match, and hope to see you all out there.
  21. You have a pic of the 'dimple'? Do you mean a lip where the mag tube and extension meet up, or something more? I do not have a pic unfortunately. Where the extension meets the factory tube, there was a small dimple on the edge. That was the cause of the Nordic not working. I used a ball peen hammer (round side) and lightly tapped it out with a second hammer. This beveled the edge out a little and removed the "dimple" or dent in the edge of the factory tube. After that, zero hangups. I have seen some that were not blatently visible, but were enought to drag on the follower as well. Something to check. Sometimes it is the little things that throw big wrenches at an attempt.
  22. I have the Nordic in mine. 24" JMP. Zero Issues with factory and Nordic spring. The biggest issue I had was the "dimple" in the end of the factory tube causing drag and snag on the follower. Once that was taken care of, she runs and runs.
