  1. I am just getting computers / email back up and running, I am sorry for the delay in communications. Here is the status: The Rescheduled date for the match is December 8th, and all registered competitors who I have email addresses for should have received the update email with new instructions / information. If you did not leave us or sign up with your email address, please contact me asap so I can get the correct info out to you. Refunds: We are a non profit club, and will be sending checks out to all of the competitors who have requested a refund, they are all being procesed at the same time since the checks require 2 signatures. We anticipate that the refund list will be mailed their checks towards the end of next week. The match will count for 2013 classifications to answer an above post, which carry over to the next year. If you want to shoot in multiple classifications, there will be the fee for each classifier stage. If you shoot 6 in OPEN, and wnat to shoot 6 in TO, then there will be an additional fee for classifications due, please contact me at my email listed below and we will get it sorted out. Hope it helps, and hope everyone has a great holiday! Michael tts3gn@gmail.com
  2. Mpom has it right on. Nordic has their older model tubes, and the new model tubes (MXT, sorry, meant to type MX not MC...damn autocorrect) that have a recess for the clamp. I am running a clamp now. Tightening the nut holds the handguard / barrel gas system in place. Loosen the tube itself from the nut so there is a little play. That allows the tube to move towards or away from the barrel as needed without influencing the barrel itself.
  3. I believe there is benefit as well as drawback to running a clamp. I broke a tube (cracked it good) abandoning into a barrel, and I admit, I was a little too forceful. That is where a clamp comes in handy to support the aluminum tube, as well as offering a front sling purchase point. The drawback tends to be influencing POA/POI. I found that tightening the nut, and backing off the tube 180 degrees has solved that issue. I run a JM, bought as a 24", and purchased a 22" barrel from Mossberg. I have an XXL cap on the factory tube for 10+1, and a +8 MC tube for 12+1.
  4. Its OFFICIAL !!! We have a reschedule date of December 8th for the all classifier match. Competitor email just went out to everyone that registered for the match.
  5. I just am getting a chance to reply to a bunch of emails. We have an issue with the reschedule date of November 17th. We are working on setting up the date as we speak, and as soon as I get a reply from the range, I will be sending another email. Generations USPSA has rescheduled the Generation 300 for November 17th, and the date conflict was easier to solve by moving the 3GN Classifer match. As far as emails going out, there was an issue with my gmail account, and a buch of emails were blocked from being sent and bouncing back. There were a few people that received my email, however there were many who did not. I have gotten that resolved, and an update email will be going out shortly, after I speak with the range. Tenatively, we are now looking to reschedule the match for December 8th, as it is the only available time prior to the holidays we can make this happen. Stay tuned, I should have everything finalized shortly. With everyone cramming matches into the end of the year, scheduling has become a challenge, but we will overcome it. Michael.
  6. I would give Glenn a call. I had a bunch of other work done as well, and just paid the full amount. I would be lying if I told you an exact amount without digging thru some receipts. He will be able to quote it right away, and has a great turnaround time.
  7. HAHA!!! This poor shotgun....I have abused and shot the hell out of it. But it seems to be a good one.
  8. Here you go. Yes, there was a noticable difference in cycle speed. I did not notice a difference in recoil.
  9. I do. Call Glenn at Lone Star Innovations here in the vendor section. He has re-worked mine. Lightened and TiN Coated bolt, and installed a Briley extended bolt release lever. I found that running it backwards helps with not loading the top of the lifter during a course of fire if accidentally bumped. The button is hollow and there is a spring inside, so there are limited options available, and to top it off, it is a hardened part. I lacked the tools to do it right, so off it went. Glenn will not dissapoint. Give him a shout.
  10. I am getting finalized staff together as we speak. I will be sending the update email this evening as we just got everything finalized. Match Reschedule Date is November 17th, same location. I am working up the lists today so that I can deal with refunds if need be as well as scheduling a few more shooters that have contacted me. The official email will go out this evening to all registered competitors. Stay tuned, it has been a tough reschedule with all the local matches going on. Michael
  11. I thought I noticed POA/POI was inconsistant. Confirmed when sandbagged at a bench. There was play between the barrel and bushing. I replaced it because I was not happy with accuracy. It made a notable difference. Lockup is great, the only play at lockup was at bushing. She's as tight as a vault now. I think it was just one of those things that got by in production / qc. The factory extractor was junk. It was loosing tension as well as clocking causing feeding and extracting issues. The groove for the firing pin stop was also oversized. All in all, it has been a great gun after getting rid of the out of spec parts. She is overdue for a refinish.
  12. I found a light burr / dent on the end of the factory mag tube on one of mine. Check to see that there are no hangups there. A slight dimple there will cause exactly what you are describing. After using a ball peen hammer to "round" out the end of the tube, both of mine have fed flawlessly. During shot/recoil there is enough movement to feed a shell, but you are only relying on cycling a bolt to feed by hand, which is less stress on the feeding system.
  13. Get rid of the extractor. Buy an Ed Brown and replace it. That is the big issue with the 9mm spartans. I have an EGW prefit bushing, EB extractor, 15# mainspring, 9# recoil and a buff, an SV short flat trigger on my 9mm spartan. Gun runs like a champ. Polish all surfaces of the trigger group that slide, and then check the trigger weight. The coating on the internals can yield a rough trigger pull, make them smooth and you will notice a huge change. Also polish the sear and hammer pins. The geometry is near perfect for factory sear cut, so avoid changing the angle until the rest of the issues are sorted out. 17# mainspring is fine, I did not notice a difference between a 15 and a 17. YMMV
  14. Brandon, are you shooting Oilfield on Thursday / Friday before leaving?
  15. I think we have it solved! I am sending emails out to staff this evening, hoping to get full replies by this evening / tomorrow morning. Stay tuned! I will update tomorrow. Thanks!
  16. I really enjoyed the amount of steel in the match. The problem with the LaRue targets were both shadows and a few of them not functioning properly. I was first shooter on Stage 9 on Friday. I hit the same LaRue down in the valley, 5 from the right 6 times. It was called as a base hit by the RO every time. I was watching the impact splash from the body, definately not the base. It was also not as high pitch as other base hits I witnessed that stage. It was definately not going over with my rounds (factory 55 gr). I gave up on that target and moved on. Found out later in the day they were calling hits on that same LaRue. Oh Well, it would not have changed my match outcome! As for pistol, they were great! whether or not they fell, it did not matter. The base hits made a different sound than the body hit, so it was easy to tell. The RO's did a great job calling the hits for myself and my squad, no complaints and thank you again! I think that maybe a backer to targets in the shadows to help find them. All in all, it was a GREAT match, and I cannot wait until next year! I hope to see them out there as reset was awesome! Maybe just not for extended ranges.
