  1. With the increase in weight do you think they will allow weighted base pads and tungsten guide rods in ssp as long as you make weight? i was looking at getting some aluminum base plates and a new guide rod but dont want to spend the money if it will make my gun illegal for ssp..

  2. My M&P Pro 5 9mm shoots about 1 1/2 groups at 25Yards off a rest. But i hand load and laddered my loads to find what the barrel liked and still got me power factor. Just getting ready to goto a KKM barrel and 147 gr Moly . I love my M&P pro 5 and my core and my 40 L and my 40 4.25 only one i need now is the 45 acp and i will be set. was gonna trade out my core and my 40 full size because i want to just keep the competitive 5" models.

  3. Was def thinking about going revo as of latge the last few match's had little to no one shooting that class would make easy pickings for trophies. but i like the competition much more. why beat three when you can beat 30 ?

  4. Ultimate in my opinion STI Tactical 3.0 in 9mm STI precision in a small frame.

  5. To me its all a game and a fun one that i enjoy. I dont get paid to do this so i take full advantage of every opportunity i can. To me gaming is kinda the spirit of the game and is defined by where you wanna play. you gonna run around in your tennis shoes or buy a set of merril hiking shoes with agressive tread or get a set of solomon shoes you only wear at matches? Blue jeans or tactical pants or higher end shooters pants again only for matches and not daily wear. Gun basic right outta the box $ 425 ruger or $800 M&P with all the goodies trigger set low and apex kit with all the tape your allowed or the $2000 2011 in 9mm and all the work legally allowed. Stock ammo or reloads at full power or reloads at just barely above power factor. the list goes on and on and on.

Shoot what ya want and if you get beat by the $6,000 man with top of the line what ever just laugh and say to your self i only spent $700 and you only beat me by 2 seconds.. lol that averages out to $1100 a 1/2 second or better yet beat him and tell him if you would have spent as much as he did you would have walked him like a dog.. hahahahaha but for the love of god HAVE FUN.

As far as SO and last sunday it was just as much the shooters fault for not know the rules also. Remember if you dont know your rights, you dont have any. but again just my 2c

  6. I shoot idpa and starting into the uspsa thing i just bought a STI eagle in 40 S&W i already own a sti steel master and a sti USPSA 1911 single stack and a M&P 5" pro 9 with kkm barrel apex etc etc. i love my STI's accurate as hell My USPSA will put 5 shots at 50 feet in one fricken hole from a rest. so will my steel master and i just sold my edge to buy the eagle. because i want to use it in IDPS and USPSA. No matter which way you go you will need to tweek them .Remember they are both games. learn to play withing the rules of the game you will play the most and enjoy.. i mean hell its shooting doesnt get any better than that.

  7. I believe what they are referring to is if you take a stock gun and remove more to lighten the slide to help speed the cycle. Most 1911/2011 have cocking serrations/ Lightening cuts in them when they leave the factory. Now you look at a gans open gun or brazos or similiar open race gun they have slide lightening cuts in them. I.E. the removal of material beyond the way it left the factory.

But similar argument goes to the fact they say no competition equipment but the glock 34 is clearly listed as a competition pistol. its semantics. and glock is a great supporter so its ok. Just like when they first said no weighted magazines then someone was caught with a brass base plate that weight more than stock then all of a sudden it was no weighted base pads that weighed more than >>> what ever it was.

Just remember its a game like hockey or football somethings legal and others are not find the rules read them and play within them.

  8. I do shoot

    ssp - S&W M&P 9mm pro 5"

    ESR S&W 625 4"

CDP- STI U.S.P.S.A 1911 single stack.

open DIV shoots (local club steel etc) - STI Steel Master

I had a STI Edge 40 S&W but sold it so i can get the Eagle for IDPA and USPSA limited.

Guess the question is do you guys who shoot in larger cities or larger locations have alot of people that shoot IDPA with 40S&W. or is it all 9MM..

  9. I know if i get the STI eagle i can only compete in ESP if its in 9mm or 40S&W. So my question is i may not shoot uspsa but would like to and they just opened a club 2 1/2 HRS away i could shoot at. So would it be better for a 40 S&W because of the minor/ major or would that put a pinch on the competing in IDPA shooting a 40? i do reload and understand the down loading to stop/ change the recoil impulse. just looking for opinions from people who may shoot both or even just compete in the ESP division..

    Ty in advance

  10. I understand what people are saying and do agree it is just a game and you must play by the rules. I do like shooting IDPA we do not have a uspsa club within 300 miles of here so idpa is the only game in town. I realize it is a gear race.

  11. I'm really liking how the new rule book used USPSA language in

    "Comment [TT79]:

    5” STI limited type guns

with full length steel dust covers (and similar

firearms from other manufacturers) are viewed

    as competition only firearms."

Last time I checked, person with the fastest time wins, I've been awarded with a trophy and plaque for the last two sanctioned matches, but wouldn't that make it a competition?

    ESP weight limit = 43oz

    STI Edge = 37.6oz

The Edge is 2.4 ounces over the Eagle (IDPA legal... with 2.75" dust cover)If you had a 3.25" dust cover which is going to be legal in Oct. the gun would weigh somewhere around 36.3oz.

How is roughly 1.3 ounces going to make such a drastic difference in times?

"USPSA does it this way so we can't!!!"

the only thing i would say to this is the i think its the glock 34 with the slide lightening cut and etc is advertised as a competition gun so why is that legal? "Glock 34 Gen4 competition". thats how they list it on the glock site.
