  1. Hello im still playing with my 627 PC 5" and my 625 JM 4" and my 686 SSR 4". A gentleman i shoot with has recently told me that one of the first things he does is throw out the Smith & Wesson rear sight and replace it with a bowen rough country or at the least the weigland sight replacement piece. anyone use these pieces ? any preference one over the other ? reasons? I know i am probably opening a can of worms as guns are very personal and i know that but i have changed every auto i own to the dawson Fiber front and STi adj rear. just got the Dawson precision fiber for my revo's but was wondering if its worth it to change the rear?

  2. Ive been using the blue bullets in my 9MM 147 at 134PF with WST powder I was thinking of trying to do a load build up with that in a short colt since they almost the same case volume or so i have read. but also really interested to hear how the clays does as i have 24 LBS of it laying around..

  3. Ok so i see alot of talk on here about 38 sc, 38 super, 38 colt ,38 spl etc what are you shooting and at what power factor is needed for USPSA . (125K yes?)

Im just getting ready to order brass and moonclips i decided what kind of brass and what style moon clips but i am holding out on the caliber til after a little consensuses here.

So what are you all shooting 38 short colt , 38 special, 38 long colt , 357 mag. and at what power factor. I just dont want to buy 1000 38 special and find out i should have gone with 38 short colt because its the new "IT" cartridge for uspsa.

  4. Man i have been waiting for 6 months for my 686ssr to arrive, So i walk into my local gun shop and there is a brand new S&W model 66 Combat magnum. Oh my heart a flutter i love the look and everything about it k frame capable of magnum loads, and just the kinda thing im looking for for my ssr gun . so i grab it and gave it a new home went to the range man same hole accuracy from a rest at 20 yards. im really liking this revolver. BUT WAIT ITS NOT IDPA LEGAL.... The barrel is advertised at 4.25 " that's .05 to much DREAMS SHATTERED .. Why would Smith and Wesson who are really active in sponsoring this sport make such a grievous mistake? Barrel must be 4.20 and no longer do they just want their 686 to be used in this sport as the flag ship model or what? Why not make it like the old 66's and go with a 4 inch barrel? man so disguisted mostly with my self for not checkin the rules but rules are rules so now i have an awesome carry gun that i will never carry and cant use it for the percieved purpose of being my idps ssr gun . Maybe it will be my ppc gun we will have to see.

  5. Ok the reason i was asking is ive been on wait for a 686 ssr for about 6 months at the local gun shop. But he did find a new model 66 combat magnum and it will be here next week. The way my buddy made it seem the model 66 would be a better overall ssr gun than the 686. he may be right he may be wrong but i have a 66 on the way and am eagerly waiting to see how it handles. I was just wondering what revo shooters thought about it. suppose i should have asked here first before i ordered but what can i say im impulsive hahahaha. I really don't think it either is bad. I know it will all come down to perception but he seemed really excited about the re-intro of the combat magnum..

  6. Ok i talked to a buddy of mine in the idpa club here and he said for IDPA ssr he would go 66 over the 686 even tho he has a 686 that he uses because they quit making hte 66 in 2005. But now that its back he would if he had to do it over again go with a 66 due to the heavier barrel and better accuracy from the 2 piece barrel. which he said is more weight forward than the 686 which helps with your recoil control and sight picture. sounds reasonable to me and as he is the only SSR master shooter i know so i found a 66 combat magnum and ordered one.

So my question to all you revo guys is do you like the 66 more than the 686 ? Does a 2 piece barrel really make it more accurate? What is the weight of a 686 ?

  7. I agree go for the 40 S&W if you really wanna go limited you can load down to PF and it will feel like a regular 9mm but give ya more points. Unless you going to use it for 3 gun and IDPA then the 2011 9mm may be better and shoot production with a S&W M&P in 9mm in USPSA. :P
