  1. Article from Brazos I used as a guide: http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/0505.htm I also used a youtube video that had a nice shot of the spot to put a detent in the slide stop to help resist sliding up, but I can't find it in history at the moment. Not necessarily suggesting you need to do this, but they had a good shot of the work they did on the inside of the stop as well. A bit of warning as well - once I filed down the inside ledge of the stop, stock STI followers sat up too high in the gun and the slide would catch on the top right of the follower sticking up out of the mag after the last around. My grams followers all worked fine. Your mileage may vary of course - and a disclaimer I'm no gunsmith just thought I'd mention how it went for me. This was on an STI matchmaster with STI 140 tubes. -424D57
  2. If you can spare the cash, Bruce Gray (grayguns.com) is the way to go for HK work. -424D57
  3. They can. Some of the STI 1911s come with one. Ditched mine for a FLGR in a 9mm Sentry. -424D57
  4. Started my little girl (and very little at that- she's tiny) at 10 in single stack minor with a 9mm 1911. Not that I'm not biased, but she's safer and runs that gun cleaner than tons of experienced shooters I've RO'd. Biggest bit of advice I can offer regardless of where you end up on the firearm/division decision: Spend a lot of time with snap caps at home loading/unloading, clearing malfunctions, drawing, presenting, and dry firing before you get to a live range. Once that timer goes off, the single best advantage you can give her is the clarity to focus on shooting safely, instead of having to think about how to run the gun. Makes an absolutely monstrous difference in how much they enjoy the match I think. -424D57
  5. I don't think I would go so far as to call myself a stage designer, but yes I'm designing a stage and yes I'm new to it. All thoughts definitely appreciated; as I said initially I felt pretty sure there was a reason I couldn't do that but hadn't managed to find that reason. Thanks, -424D57
  6. That's a good one; thanks Sarge! Give the competitor a choice between the time or points, or in some cases a reload and time or points. Was just thinking of ways to present the shooter with odd challenges, and this was one I considered for an environment with logistical challenges with adding an activator. -424D57
  7. I'm considering a stage with an optional target. Think similar to a disappearing target such that not engaging is not a FTSA, and mikes are no penalty, just without the activator. WSB might read something like, "Engage T1 and T3-T6 with 2 rounds each" (blatantly not mentioning T2, the 'option'). After consulting the rule book, I'm still left with the feeling this would make an illegal stage. Anyone seen this before? Anyone able to assist my reading impairment to call out the rule that makes this either definitively illegal or otherwise? Thanks -424D57
  8. What model and variant do you have? If memory serves, USPs and USPcs in V1 already have the light everything. I suspect the same is true for V3 P series pistols as well. If you're already into LEM, going to light will depend greatly on where you started. -424D57
