  1. great match! thanks to everyone involved. squad 5 was the best. nice shooting with you all. the excitement did not end on sat. sunday morning on the way home we bagged a nice spike. Ky trooper wanted to see out hunting license! almost got stuck in Ky for extra time....lol. everyone was okay except the buck.....and the car.....it was totaled! new ride for next year!
  2. This may be a longshot. But we have an extra ticket. If anyone wants to shoot the match we have a spot for $150. Send me a private message if you can use this.
  3. har har har! i was able to hit most all of the long range targets! this was my 1st big match with optics....as a result i "passed " the middle swinger on stage 7 and shot the far one......and of course the RO was looking at the middle one cause i was going "bottom to top" never got the call and then could not hit it again! doh! i even hit the 10 targets on stage 4 with 11 rounds! the RO called "hit" on a few and i was thinking "are you sure?".....and i could see them moving.....i was just shocked is all..... anyway.......lemme tell you.....seeing/shooting at/hitting 300 yard steel with an optic (even the "those worn out gong things they called steel at 250" ) IS WAY EASIER than with irons.....almost like cheating
  4. I don't think it was announced either way until the draw. it was very clear way before the match....i know this because i made a decision to shoot pro as a result of the random draw.....i have NO luck......i thought it was prudent to use merit........i did not do so well. maybe should have tried my luck.....lol! the only thing i thought was lacking was more, farther, long range steel. we should use rockcastle's facility to the max......lets see WAY more 300, 400, and 500 yard rifle targets. thanks to the sponsors and all others that put on the match.
  5. thanks Z were you able to replicate the above work? how does it function? loading good? any issues? please keep em coming. i would like to see what others have done cheers eddie
  6. hey all, i have an SP on the way. i have been searching for some images and/or videos about the modifications to the loading port and hand guard. i have not been very successful. i am just trying to get an idea on what others have done. i need a basic starting point, and i also wanna see what the most others have removed for comparison. currently i use the "load two" style with the taccom 6 ups. i am looking to try the "load 4" (AP QL/8) method and see how this works for me. i understand the load 4 method requires some hand guard relief. what is your experiences? i was looking at various modifications people had done to their shotguns at the last couple of 3 gun matches.....my mistake was i should have taken a few images of the various results. thanks for the insight. eddie
  7. let her do it. be there to help her and provide encouragement and of course for safety. IMO suggesting to her she is too young may have the opposite affect.....it may drive her away. i am sure with the proper supervision all with go just fine. i was shooting at the BRM 3G event and i have a video or two of katie harris that i would be happy to send you a link to if you think your daughter would enjoy viewing it. send me a pm. eddie
  8. funny thread. i make fun of my friends who show up to the 3 gun match in a chest rig full of 30 round mags. they look like a pregnant tree (camo)! especially when you need less than 30 rounds per strange....and you cant shoot prone with all that crap hanging off your chest! too bad about the rule about "objectionable" attire. i am currently wanting to make an orange shirt that is called the "New Yorkistan Felons" i will have one of those cartoon characters p!ssing on cuomo, p!ssing on the "safe" act. and maybe an impeach obama slogan......and what ever else i couodl think about......all this to shoot the NY matches! convict number 223-308-45 or something like that. got any more ideas? eddie
  9. who should we make the checks out to? dean? cash? im in! eddie
  10. i was at the local hole in the wall lgs yesterday just to see what was happening. he has ammo, uppers, lowers and ARs. .....the place was PACKED! the line was like 40+ people inside. you had to go to the back of the line and only when it was your turn could you "shop" this place is small....well, the shop is small the warehouse is HUGE! anyway, the craziness is still on around here.
  11. Thanks. I just tried a new shell plate. I tried the looser and tighter. Retread i sent u a pm Thanks so far. I may need to bevel it a bit.
  12. sorry if i sound a bit frustrated in my video but this i killing me. please watch teh video and let me know if i am operating the press too fast or too abruptly. at 1st i thought it was the press....but i have done everything that dillon has said. while making the video i got thinking maybe it is me....but it seems i have to operate it awfly slow to get it to feed reliably. what do you think? here is the video: thanks eddie
  13. i shot my 1st open match last weekend. it took a bit to find the dot at 1st(matter of fact, 1st stage 1st shooter of the day and i forgot to turn on the dot! doh!). i found just what coco said above. for the close in "safe" targets i could just point and shoot. the rest i found the dot (albeit slowly), my hits were great. i enjoy irons, but i can see loving open.
  14. mine was the opposite. i started using my colt officer 45 as my carry gun....many years later i started competitions.....yup, you guessed it, 1911 for my competition gun as well. e
  15. i use teh 25/300. works great for me.....well i actually have trouble with the 100 yard stuff. i have to hold lower on 100. i have no issues with 300 or 400 (i shoot a scar and i adjust the rear elevation for 400). that being said, my buddy was shooting my rifle and was hitting at 100 yards holding it right on......it all comes down to cheek weld/position i guess.
  16. har har har! i had a 650. sold it and bout a 1050. got it in 45 and bought a 223 conversion etc etc. switching it over from 45 to 223 was not too bad. now that i have done it once it will be much easier....BUT last night i picked up one in 45. so now i got one for 223 set up and one for 45! oh my!
  17. hhhmmmm? good idea. maybe i will try my scar on similar settings. what should i consider to get the most out of it? heavy slower bullets? or is there another combo to consider? thanks
  18. Backing is instrumental to irons shooters. It helps targets stand out and easier to find. Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk 2 yup. thanks for the backers. i was shooting irons as well.....but it kind of sucked to shoot against the guys with red dot non magnified optics.....not really the same....... i guess i will have to subscribe to the old adage......if you cant beat em, join em. i may have to buy a dot.....
  19. Awesome match! Great NOT to have to tape and reset steel! Loved the stages. A perfet squad. Thanks to the kanucks for the hornady book too! A great read! Thanks to all the staff amd sponsors. See u all next year.
  20. it looks like i may have gotten a substitute slot from a guy that could not make it. i hope to be going! can someone please point me to the stage designs? i can not find it for some reason. i am all set on my pistol and pretty set on the rifle....but reading the posts here it sounds like i better get another couple of weeks of shotgun practice in! bwah ha ha! anyone wanna share a room.....so far i got nowhere to stay! (off to load more ammo.....) eddie
  21. mee too! i can not wait! great! fits my classification to a T....or should i say a C"? pm sent
