  1. I've tried to make it spin with my 130PF 9mm ammo and it would take me 4 accurate shots on one plate in a row to get it to just initiate spin beyond 5 degrees. I will need to get some white box and use a stronger recoil spring.
  2. The point I have to make is that this is a rather technical target for new shooters. Make what you want of it.
  3. Yes, now that I know how to call this POS by its true name. I may bring a box of commercial ammo just to make sure it spins.
  4. Back when I had a Gp6 and I was a total non-reloading noob, I bought some Tula and it fired just fine.
  5. Can I say one last thing? We all shoot slow.
  6. The target I am talking about is attached to this post. Basically it consists of two round plates each at the end of an arm, the arm being hinged around a horizontal axis. The bottom plate is larger than the top plate. Shooting this with minor PF 9mm, what would be the best technique to get this to fully spin? I am thinking about shooting the bottom one first, then the top one when it starts spinning away from me, then the bottom on, aso. But, at one point the arm is horizontal and I have to wait for it to swing back and be quick to shoot at the bottom one again, hope the top one will then go beyond the horizontal and that's when I am supposed to hit it, when it is presented at a very odd angle. Is this a lost cause with a minor PF load? I am thinking about getting a box of commercial 9mm just for the stage or even borrowing someone's .40 limited gun.
  7. I've heard good things but I never heard that it was that much better than a Buckmark, for which tons of accessories exist. (I hate having to say that).
  8. This decision lies mostly on the shoulders of the importer. Grand Power is a still a smallish outfit. Not been around long enough, still struggling to find a market in the US. Very small group of die hard afficionados (I've been one of them since the days of the STI GP6). Q100 is designed to be a cop gun. I think some believe that a safe action is better for 3 Gun due to not having to engage the safety as with a hammer gun before abandonment. But... methinks they should work more on the shotgun reloading part than try to save a 1/4 of a second with that type of gaming.
  9. Those are two different things, "best" and "most popular". I regularly beat shooters who are fundamentally better shooters than me: younger, more experience, slimmer and faster on their feet. (I started very late in this sport). I keep making the comment that I only beat them because of what I shoot. They look down at my gun, shrug their shoulders, walk away.
  10. I believe it should, since it is probably petroleum based.
  11. I wish BBL had 135gr RN. Because these are my favorite Bayou bullets. And... I'd like a contingency program.
  12. Welcome to the GP family. As I've said many times, the X-Cal is a great gun that is ready to race in production with ZERO modifications at 3/4 or 1/2 of the price of what's used in production. I'm just a solid A shooter, but I've won a few local matches and manage to beat an army of Limited and Open shooters with it. Removing part 52 has two draw backs: You are stuck with Federal primers, which are harder to find these days. The hammer strike is slower. Which may or not translate into ACs instead of AAs, as your second shot comes as you are already transitioning to the next target in an array. This depends on how fast you transition, obviously. I would shoot it as is for the moment and, when you have a bit of time, take it apart and gently smooth the trigger assembly at contact points. By doing this alone, I dropped 3/4 lbs from trigger pull. This is a "no need to eff around with" kind of gun. For the tinkerer, it may indeed be frustrating. There is NOTHING to do to it to make it competitive except swap for the lighter recoil spring when using competition loads.
  13. Look for Bayou recipes Very similar.TG is still very available and popular.
  14. I believe that a case gauge with a tighter tolerance than your barrel is a great substitute for your barrel and that from experience. The resizing die will handle the bulge. Lee is good. I used one on my .40 tool head because bulges are common, courtesy of Uncle Gaston, in that particular caliber. Why it happens? Several reasons. Lack of barrel support for the casing, small surface resistance compared with to the huge amount of pressure.

    GR-X die

The bulging issue is mostly with. 40 out of non fully supported barrels such aa in the Glock. I use the Lee resizing die but it may be overkill.
  16. Castboolits is a fascinating forum, to say the least
  17. Thanks. Also I thought that the dpms rear sight looks different.
  18. Could I know which sights these are? Thanks
  19. Henning has extended mag pads (the magazines are the same as used on Tanfoglio) if you want. http://henningshop.com/t/grand-power Since there is no race holster, I would give Ernie Hall a call. The L is not available yet on this market.
  20. JJ did this at the prod nationals. Since his pistol never hit the ground and he never broke 180, the RO did not stop him. He finished the match, not as well placed as he would have but still he did rather well overall, considering the fall and bruised ego.
  21. I did force the shooter to remove his remaining mag on a table. Good thing, since he automatically attempted a reload from the belt. After the stage I explained he WOULD HAVE had 1 proc per shot, which he could not believe. I needed confirmation. Thanks.
  22. The CoF describes that all magazines used during the stage are to be placed on top of barrels, tables, etc... The shooter keeps one magazine on his belt and is reminded of the stage rule described above. While shooting the stage, the shooter accidentally reloads with the magazine on his belt. Does he incur one procedural or one per shot fired from this magazine? I believe the latter but what rule should I invoke? Thanks!
  23. It does not seem to be designed with competition in mine. The rear sights are similar to those on the K100. It would be in the same category as the 5-inch M&P 40, which is a good shooter already and makes a good sub-$1k limited gun.
