  1. The greast response I got from the Gold Medal sale inspired the Olympic deal and it's a the best package deal I've ever offered. I'm not sure if I'll do it again, but it's a test to see how a package like this is received. My thoughts have been that when 'all' my upgrade parts are ready I will make a 're-build my gun' package taking the Limited 40 and upgrading it to what I would consider the ultimate setup all in one shot. It's something that will work great for someone who just got a new Limited. But it's not for everyone as many already have upgraded their guns in steps. Eventually I will offer new guns with my parts installed ready to go. First I need to have all the upgrade parts made so that I can build the gun the way I want it. We're getting there step by step, part by part. The new magwell and magrelease will greatly put the gun at a state I could take a brand new gun, install my parts and leave the next day for the US Nationals or the IPSC Worlds or Europeans.
  2. 5.09 x 2.2 = 11.2lb 5.59 * 2.2 = 12.3lb What's in the gun ? I gave up trying to find out as who knows if they ever change the springs between gun models, years etc. This is why I switched to Wolff springs a long time ago. I base-lined all my guns (for competition) with a Wolff 10lb spring and experimented downward with lighter loads/springs to 8lb -> 6lb. Then I went upwards to 12lb to see. After much testing in practice and finally Nationals I had a special 10.75lb spring made for USPSA major / IPSC Standard loads (170-175 power factor; 180 grain bullet at 945 - 970 feet per seconds). In particular in the Limited 40 S&W I feel this is the optimal spring weight. You could say this is highly subjective, but many other shooters have confirmed through their own testing. Nobody is more 'correct' than you if you like a different spring for your gun/loads. Through meticulous testing and trying to staying open-minded a significant number of shooters may come to the same agreement on spring to load conclusion. But it's easy to agree without testing on your own. 10 years ago everyone was convinced heavy springs was the way to go. Then the lightest possible spring that would function was the new trick right around the days of 1999 World Shoot. It took many years before hard-lived notions of heavy springs started to loosen up. This is referencing 1911 / STI world of 40 S&W 5" guns. Over the years I know some shooters went as low as 7lb springs for limited/standard major loads. I've tried these light springs in major in my Tanfo (EAA Witness) limited 40, but found the sight picture return to be slow and sluggish. Also for the most part unreliable. I have used 6lbs in steel challenge competitions in my Limited 40 with great feel of gun's recoil & return. The gun needs to be running smoothly for 6lb to even function. 10lb became my personal choice for a long time. 12lb felt too heavy, but I tried it. Over time and also from sporadic feedback from fellow Tanfoglio shooters the right spring in between 10lb and 12lb seemed to be a balance between reliable feeding and 'tuned' absorption of recoil to smooth slide return. I had the 10.75lb spring made and many shooters have agreed with me it serves just this purpose. All my Limited 40 guns uses this spring now and it's a quality spring that I know is the right choice for me. Having a good source of reliable springs from Wolff has helped us tune our guns to our particular loads and purposes. Try and find out.
  3. Okay, I've added the "2010 Olympic Deal" package. It's available through a link on my main page and this link right here: Henning's 2010 Olympic Deal In the spirit of competition I've created - for the first time - a gun upgrade package for those who want to get their gun ready for: 2010 IPSC European Championships (in particular IPSC Standard Division) 2010 USPSA Limited Nationals and for all those of you who want to be as competitive as possible in all your National, Area, Sectional and State championships. The package allows for customizing and if you own say a Limited, a Stock II, a Match etc, you can mix n match parts to create a package that works for you. The savings is a staggering 30% off regular retail when you go all the way. Once you opt for the package, I've also added several add-ons that you qualify for. This allows you to buy certain products at a reduced price. It also allows you to pre-order the soon-to-be-released: Competition Magwell (big-n-badass competition magwell for Limited, Gold Team etc in Large frame) Competition Magrelease, adjustable tension with screw-on extended mag-button. I don't know exactly what my final retail price will be on these two products yet, but I'm giving you both products at a killer price including shipping which means they will be shipped to you individually as soon as they are available. With this special offer, I am also making available a limited edition H-570 basepad for IPSC standard division. This basepad will make it super-easy to reload to 19 rounds, reliably. It's an over-sized magpad, but having seen over-sized IPSC Standard boxes used at high level competitions such as the 2007 Europeans etc, I bet you it will make it in the 2010 Europeans as well. If it doesn't, so be it, but it will make it in some of the matches you attend and it will be an advantage. These basepads are in stock and ready to ship with the 2010 Olympic Deal. Delivery on the new competition magwell and magrelease isn't clear yet, but both are the two next products I am releasing and both are in semi-finished state. They both have a super-high priority for me so if you know you want them, jump on the Olympic Deal and pre-order. It will save you money over ordering when they do become available. Any comments etc, please email or post here. I can modify the offer / webpage if you see anything that doesn't make sense etc. The 2010 Olympic Deal is valid as long as the 2010 Olympic Games are going on. The day after the games ends, the offer and webpage will no longer be available. This is the final tribute to the Olympics and a celebration of Norway's 2010-to-date 5 Olympic Gold medals. Cool ? ;-) Henning

  5. Okay, I've got my "Olympic Deal" idea figured out. I'm going to make a special web-page with some outrageous deals that will run until the last day of the Olympics ! I'm making a special website right now for it... stay tuned for Saturday morning.. hope to have it ready by then, giving you over a week to get in on the greatest new gun tuning package I've ever offered.
  6. Norway keeps winning... now 5 Gold. It's so cool to watch Aksel Svindal and Bode Miller battle it out in alpine. I grew up training and competing in alpine sports 4 times a week as a child so I can appreciate the battle and camaraderie. If you missed out on the 20% deal don't worry. I'm working on an Olympic Deal... ;-)
  7. Nice, yeah we had a lot of fun making that shirt ;-)
  8. And of course a 3rd gold to Svendsen... finally in a shooting event ;-) (20km biathlon)
  9. Okay Pat... I'm now a fan... http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Vancouver-BC/The-Norwegian-Olympic-Curling-Teams-Pants/311163439555?ref=mf
  10. Another Gold today by Tora Berger in biathlon. Women are cleaning up and the men making a mess... well what else is new ;-) What can we do except celebrate and push the 20% sale for another day. Until 6pm Mountain Time on Friday ! Then we'll just have to see if Norway can keep it going. Mo, you got in. I just came back from running errands and you order was in before 5pm. And after all, I'm really not that tough on ya, I appreciate all you guys' support of my store and it helps continue the development of more cool stuff for us all. In line of new products is prototyping of a new hammer and sear which so far is looking really good. I have the first prototype hammer which will have half-cock intact and it was a sweet trigger pull that dropped right in with the factory sear. Once I get a matching sear sample I have hopes for an easy install match hammer & sear. First tests was extremely promising. so in danger of confusion... Gold Medal 20% sale continues until Friday 6pm Mountain Time. just make sure to write "Gold Medal 20%" in comment. Sale extends to all tanfoglio and henning parts, including shirts. Just to clarify, starline brass is not considered parts. I will extend the 20% to all 1911 parts as well (not part of the original sale). AR-15 parts I can do 10% off, except scopes. I have JP Handguards in stock and their retail just went up to $185 while I'm still selling them for $180. Minus 10% and you got yourself the best deal on the V-Tacs. I keep expanding my 1911 and AR-15 selection to take a moment to browse them. Note that I now also carry the TechWell TGO magwell & grip (Rob Leatham designed magwell for single stack 1911). At 20% off all 1911 parts it's a steal. I put it on my 1911 which Rich built for me and I'll be sporting it at the USPSA Single Stack Nationals in April. Much easier to reload than Smith & Alexander I was using last year. I'll be adding Briley's 1911 parts to my store shortly and we're working on a new and improved webstore which will make it easier for me to add and update changes. My bud Thomas in Norway is hard at work (yeah right..) getting it set up.
  11. I'm heading to the post office. Got lots of orders today from smart people taking advantage of Norway's Gold Medal celebration ;-). Still almost 3 hours left if you're thinking of shopping soon. Remember to put "Gold Medal 20%" in the comment / special instructions box.
  12. As I'm updating the webshop I just added : Double Alpha's new 3-1 Tanfoglio / C-More scope mount. A fantastic new scope mount which features built-in Blastshield, adjustable thumb rest and a folding kick stand you can use only when needed.. Some nice design by Saul on this one. I have them in stock. check out: Tanfoglio Scope Mounts and accessories
  13. New products for small frame Tanfoglio added: H-550S . An IPSC Box magazine pad for small frame Tanfoglio / EAA Witness / Springfield P9 guns. For those of you with small frame guns, this is the optimal basepad for IPSC Standard box. Will also be a great basepad for those who have a Gold Team V8 / V12 small frame in 9mm looking for a higher capacity, short magazine. Sold as pads individually, 3-packs and 5-packs. Also with modified Grams follower for small frame for maximum capacity. H-141S . The USPSA 141.25mm basepad for small frame. Get up to 23 rounds in 9mm and improve small frame 40 S&W mag capacity. Also have inexpensive 0.050" allen hex L-driver keys for basepads and Flat Trigger System. The trigger systems shipped as of today will have this 0.050" allen key supplied to make install easier.
  14. Norway finally got it's first Gold Medal at Olympics with Marit Bjørgan in cross country. I celebrate by 20% off on all orders from 6pm today until 6pm tomorrow night (thursday 6pm mountain time). Goes for all Tanfoglio related parts. Make sure to write Gold Medal 20% in the comment box.
  15. just keep in mind that if you blast your gun you'll void your factory warranty... i've ionbond'ed all my guns and love the finish. But I had to do something to my finish because I had modified my gun frame and slides (A LOT). And I'm not worrying about factory warranty issues... I shot the chrome guns for years and though never been a big fan of chrome guns, lots of guys pay to have their guns finished in chrome.. doubt there's a lot of shooters complaining about reflection, but who knows.
  16. Both shirts back in stock in Medium, Large, X-Large and 2XL. Plus due to request we also made them available in Small ! Prescription & Competition T-Shirts The ConeFit guiderod is now also available for Gold Team V12 / Stock / Stock II / Steel model with the standard length slide (10mm shorter than the Match, Limited, Gold Team V8). Also added 2 and 3 pack of guide rods for both standard and long slide. ConeFit Guide Rods for Standard and Long Slide Tanfoglio / EAA guns
  17. What year did you acquire this gun ? I've checked the new magwell against some of my older frames and the measurements you gave Rich match these. There may be that some contour shape of your frame is slightly different, but looks like it's going to be same as the new ones. We're using about 8 of my guns to make sure we get the tightest possible fit well to frame. Minor fitting may be necessary, but I'm doing what I can to ensure they will slide right on without any slop.
  18. just a quick note on filing down the burrs. I did that for quite a while and it fixed the disassembly problem. But the guide rod eventually created a small 'crater' which I became increasingly worried would cause the factory guide rod to jump out of it's original 'cradle'. Going to a cone-fit guide rod increases the contact surface to a different level.
  19. The shock buffer will come once I get some time to play with different thickness of shims. Without altering the slide I think we can stick about a 0.060" shim (shock buff) and still have secure extract / feed. It would need to be tested before starting a production out of it. Right now I'm working on prototyping the magwell which we came to a 99% design tonite. My machinist has some work to do now and we'll do some final tweaking. But it'll be nice, big and truly functional. At the same time, a new hammer & sear project is coming along rather nicely. Those have priority at the moment. The new guiderod will stop the battering which is the great improvement. The shock buff will be the next step which may have great benefits in reducing frame and slide impact. Lots of things to do, so little time...
  20. We are almost done prototyping the new slip-on magwell and of course have to look ahead... The next project will be a fixed rear sight to match up with the iFiber 0.165" tall front sight. For those of you who are running this on your Tanfoglio/Witness Limited 40 S&W, can you measure the height of the sight from the bottom of the sights' dovetail cut to where you have the top of the rear sight blade ? The reports I've been getting from local shooters is 0.480" - 0.490". The more input I get from YOU on this, the better. Make sure your gun is zero'ed at 25 yards and if you are sure you have a good sight adjustment using my iFiber (either width), then please post the height of your rear sight. Thanks ;-)
  21. Just updated the web-shop to include the Blade-Tech Match w/ accessory rail holsters.
  22. It's coming. I've got the holsters for match w/ rail now and they will be making a holster for the match that you will need to have the light installed.
  23. I think there could be an evolution of the mag well as we progress and I will (and already have..) look at insert possibilities as I like to entertain ideas of the ultimate design. Some people like inserts, some have had negative experiences with them. And as stated here, some like alu over steel and vice versa. Who's wrong, who's right, who's to say? Personally I love Rich's stainless mag well which is welded on four of my guns. To speak a few words of the main benefit of welding a stainless well on the frame - making a larger opening in the actual frame is of huge benefit to the seating of the magazine once it's entered the mag well. Welding on a stainless well allows for the optimal blend of the well and the frame. It's done on my guns and performance is greatly enhanced. The aluminum mag well will have a hugely improved opening compared to the factory and the well opening will have the same beneficial characteristics as the Canyon well. For those who don't want to weld/glue and grind/blend, you can have a similar well to the Canyon installed in a minute. However, there will be a transition between the well and the frame. Of course you could grind the frame and blend to the well if you want. I've done this on my factory wells in the past. If I want to modify my frame to that ultimate extent I would just go with Rich's SS well, weld and grind till the magwell angle transitions into the frame. I have no friction trouble seating mags or experience of what Charlie is getting into on the plastic/steel material. Making a plastic magazine is not realistic nor the right solution in my opinion. If anything I'd like a slightly wider steel mag [for better stacking of rounds], but then the frame should be wider on the inside. So that's not happening unfortunately and I asked the factory to do this back in 2004. My advice would be - if you've got Rich's SS well, transition the well angle further into the frame. Chroming your magbodies is an option that will make them more slippery. Regarding aluminum itself as material for the mag well, I think it's a very appropriate material for the job and widely used. Many does not want their Limited or Gold Teams to get any heavier and it's very understandable. Most gun owners doesn't want to modify their guns either. And being able to install it yourself is very attractive over sending your gun to a gunsmith. There is a market for both style of wells, you just have to decide what's right for you; 1) weight vs wear factor 2) your willingness to modify frame permanently 3) looks, color options, look/match to grips So again, I'm a huge fan of the welded magwell, but one thing to be very aware of. You will void your factory warranty. If you replace your magwell with the new slip-on, keep your factory as well as all other factory parts you upgrade from. Always restore gun to factory condition if you need to send it in for warranty reasons. On the topic of bling vs function, I always want function. That is the number one motivation behind all the improvements I work on. I will never compromise function over form, that's getting it totally wrong and I think you cannot put people down for wanting both. We can always discuss what the ultimate function is to the end of days. We are different and we want different things from our guns. Most of us are very proud of our guns, treasure them and want to show them off on top of rocking them at matches. For me, Form follows Function. Putting the extra effort into making an aesthetically pleasing product that achieves the purpose of the improvement is what motivates me. ;-)
  24. Yeah I've looked at that. I'm not sure if I'd be stepping on their toes ? And I'm not 100% sure if a delrin insert is the way to go. Any views on this ?
