  1. If you go to the USPSA website they have already changed it taking off the SP01 The list says CZ 75 (all SA/DA and DAO models except P-01 & SP-01 series), 85 (all models), 97-B, 99, 100, 101, 110 Guess I'll cancel the one I told Angus to hold for me.
  2. I'm shooting a CZ75 in production. I've tried a Glock 35 and a Para P18 lda 9mm. CZ is my favorite so far and I owned it before the other two. After searching for the perfect I realzed I already had it. I don't even have to reload for it. I buy Blazer for $3.86 for 50. It recoils a little more than my powder puff 147 grain loads but it feels quicker to me. I think I like a lighter bullet. If you can shoot a glock ( I can't) it is always a goods choice. Try a CZ if you can get your hands on one.
  3. Just got the same sights installed. Arrived two days after the order. They look great. My only CZ complaint is now gone.
  4. I shot my friends new open gun. He has 3 ports in it and it shoots a good bit flatter than mine. Even with the same loads the muzzle just barely moved on his. Our guns are similar heavy weights. Is it a big task to have porting added? Or is it simple for a good smith? Any idea on costs etc? I'm shooting a Limcat Phantera 38 supercomp that is hardchromed if that helps. Thanks
  5. Well, I shot my open gun for the first time tonight in a practice match. I had my best scores ever. Time was good and my points down were great. I have found that the range I've been shooting in is so tight and cramped (indoor) that the muzzle blast hits me from all sides. Tonight I was a lot more open and had a great time. Easy following of the dot. Anyway, thanks for the tips. I found shooting hard cover and steel to be almost too easy.
  6. Hi, I've just started shooting open. I was shooting a Para p18 lda in production. High C class. I've notice I'm a lot slower shooting my open gun. Splits are a lot slower, draws are a bit slower. Is this normal? I've been dry firing a lot and I'm getting better at picking up the dot, but in live fire I seem to be moving in slow motion. Is this something that others have experienced? I'm trying to fight my flinch of the blast and I'm able to watch the dot lift most of the time. Just looking for any help I can get.
  7. I'm sure somone would like it. I'll probably buy another and post it for sale.
  8. Has anyone ever painted their SVI grip? I bought a used gun and it has a blue striped grip and looks a little too fancy for me. What type of paint is used? Can you do it yourself? I just want a simple black grip. If I have to buy a new one I will, but figured I would save a little money. Thanks for the help.
  9. After talking with J.L. Hardy my decision is very easy. I just got in line. Wow he is a nice guy. Thanks everyone.
  10. I was missing something. Didn't think about labor. I thought I might be able to use the same slide and comp and just replace the barrel. Its looking more like a new gun or suck it up and shoot 38 super. My god I think I'll throw if I have to pay $70/1000 for brass. I never even pick up my 9mm. Who are the best smith's building new 9mm major guns. I've read about Bedell and J.L. Hardy. Do they have websites or anything? Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated.
  11. I can get a gun with mags for around $1600-1700. Plenty are listed on USPSA all the time. Seems that most new guns without mags are around $2500 at the cheapest. I figure with the mags, even if I had to pay $400+ to convert I would still be coming out well ahead. (around $500 or so.) Does this make sense or am I missing something? And I've loaded 10's of thousands of 9mm. Never to major caliber though. Thanks for the help so far.
  12. I'm thinking of buying a used 38 super open gun. I was wondering what parts would be involved in making it 9mm. What gunsmith could do it and what would you estimate price wise? I don't currently shoot 38 super and already have the 650 set up in 9mm. I think the cost of converting might easily pay for itself in dies, conversion kits, case feed adapter, brass etc. Let me know what you think. Also, is the 9mm major pushing it for a new open shooter? Thanks for the help.
  13. I'm down to a 10# spring and 1.160 OAL. Flawless function now. Also sanded the mags a bit. Thanks for all the help.
  14. I'm working on going through the list you all have given me. I've tried some heavier reloads with some success. I tried longer loads and it improved a bit also. I went and bought a 10# and a 12# spring to give those a try. I'm also going to try sanding one of the followers. I have 7 mags and it happens on all of them. This gun has had a trigger job from EGW, but no reliability work. I'll also order one of the Arrendondo followers and give that a shot. Thanks for all the ideas. My gunsmith is at Area 4 this weekend so no help there. If I can't fix it, it will go to him next week. Thanks everyone.
  15. I just received my Para P18/9 Lda that I bought. It was purchased used as I couldn't find any new ones in Limited and Stainless. Anyway, I'm having a good bit of reliability issues. My rounds seem to be ramming right into the feed ramp. If I give it a good smack on the rear of the slide it will move forward. This has happened in several different mags, using my reloads (124 grain Berry RN with 4.1 WW231), Blazer Aluminum, Blazer Brass, and Winchester White Box. I don't think it is ammo related even though my reloads were the worst. I'm new to the 1911 and not familiar with this problem. What are the common problems that cause this and what are the fixes? Thanks in advance. I appreciate it.
  16. Ordered the bladetech. Haven't got the gun in yet, but it will be here next week. Thanks everyone. Now I need some reload suggestions. Off to the reloading board.
  17. I'm buying a Para P18 to shoot production with. What is everyone using for holsters? Also, which model holsters does the P18 work with? I saw Bladetech has the P14 and P16 listed. Does it fit one of those? Thanks
  18. Pangris, I saw in another post you are in Baton Rouge, so am I. I use a Dawson Precision plain black for my rear and FO for the front for my Glock 35. If you ever shoot at Precision or the Gonzales match, I'll probably run into you if you want to check it out.
  19. Hi, I'm trying to work up some loads for my Glock 35. It has a KKM barrel. I have 155 grain RN and 180 TFP lead bullets. I have an 8 pound jug of Win 231 that I use for other loads and would like to use it if possible. Anyone have any good starting points or loads that they use? I did a search and didn't see many that were using Win 231 and even fewer with lead. I'd like to make major with one of the loads, but I'd be happy with a starting point for now. Thanks for the help.
  20. The CZ I am shooting is a compact gun and I have some problems at the 25 yard+ targets. I'm much faster with a longer sight radius. Also, I finally got to shoot a glock that has a trigger done by Vanek and it was amazing. The only reason I started with the CZ is that I carry it some and already had a holster. I got a really good price on the Glock and I figure I can move to limited, eventually, with the same gun. Not many production shooters here. 70% + shoot limited or limited 10. I also already have several hi caps for the glock so that won't be an expense if I switch to limited. I've loaded many 1000's of lead in 9mm so I'm used to the pain. I just like being able to shoot twice as much for the same price. Thanks for the help and I'll check out the CR speed pouches.
  21. I have only been shooting USPSA for a few months now. I have a few questions. I've been shooting production with my CZ 75 P01. I'd like to start shooting production (for now) with my Glock 35. What mag pouches would be legal for production that would also allow me to upgrade to Limited later on? Are the "race" type pouches legal for production? Also, I'd like to buy an aftermarket barrel so that I can shoot lead for more practice. Is that legal in production if it is the same length? Or is this something I'll have to shoot with in practice and switch to jacketed for matches? Thanks for the help.
