  1. As stated above, generate the activity file. You can email it to yourself, or use the Dropbox app to share it. On the PC upload as club adminstrator on the USPSA site. What's going to happen when automatic is you post results, and if you have the match tagged as USPSA Activity, their website will note it and setup an invoice for your club to pay online. Our initial part of that is done (helping USPSA decode PractiScore databases and providing an API for them to get and work with the files), and it's now in the hands of USPSA to implement. That is being done by a vounteer programmer, and he's also making activity calculations automatic and instant, as well as some other improvements too. So while this task is relatively simple, it's intertwined into somethig more complex. I don't know when it will be done, just that it is being worked on pretty diligently. Ken N.
  2. Zach - email support that you want to try it.
  3. Russ reports he's sending it to initial field testers tomorrow. How long after that will depend on what they report. Ken N.
  4. It's in final testing/tweaking. I've been out doing USPSA Junior Camp, but I'll ask Russ where it is. That was the state 4 or 5 days ago, before I disappeared for that. (-:
  5. New iOS release should address this. Ken N.
  6. Get 'er done before Saturday and I'll run my iPad as master to test. I have testlfight account already setup with you guys. Are you test flighted with us? Then it's doable.
  7. I'm getting the format for that file from the tech guy... he says it will be quickest and best if we generate the file. So we will, on iOS, this week. Ken N.
  8. Ah... activity and results. I talking about classifications, which I suppose is activity but I was definitely in the impression classification wasn't working for SCSA. The file is easy to generate, based on what the file format looks like. We don't have the logic, but can reverse engineer it readily enough. I've got an email in to the tech guy to get an answer as to what's up, what works, and schedules for new stuff, if known. Ken N.
  9. If I thought PractiScore generating SCSA activity would work, we'd do it. The file format is simple. So I'm not throwing my hands up, I'm telling you I understand that no matter what I wrote, it wouldn't work anyway since it's disconnected at the USPSA end due to not having the member #'s integrated after the consolidation of the two organizations. That includes ezSteel, so I think the instruction to use it was not correct. And I'd posted, here and elsewhere, that we'd worked a plan with their tech guy, and provided an API, to decode Understand matches posted to the web and use the data for activity calculations, including USPSA and steel. That is underway, but it's software, and done by a volunteer (not us), so end date unknown. If it turns out I'm wrong and us doing ezSteel export would work, we will knock it out next week, but... I'm pretty sure (like 99.9%) that isn't the case. Regards, Ken N.
  10. Sigh... I didn't think that ezSteel worked either, that it was the website and lack of connection to new USPSA #s that was the issue. That's one reason I hadn't prioritized doing it, among others. Ken N.
  11. Both JC and Pete have good answers. I like Pete's one paper target with multiple hits, and NS enabled. I'll check with Russ & Eugene, but I know that NS associated with steel is upcoming in the near future. Ken N.
  12. Thanks Brian! It was fun, wasn't it (-: Scores are posted above, and the Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Southwest-Multigun-Championship Watch there for match videos, pics, and news on next year.
  13. Pro Am style scoring.... we do it currently by adding time for left steel. That way we can integrate it into matches, like the Berry's Open, that are time based. Classification by Division in SC.... absolutely, implied but not specifically stated in my thoughts.
  14. I worry that a rush to fix this or that avoids the longer term view of SC and USPSA. And to me, that is modernization, unification and equal treatment. This is just ME talking, spouting my recommendations on Steel Challenge, no doubt peeing in the wind, but here goes: Unification: - move to ONE USPSA classification, not separate regular pistol and SCSA - unify. As recently done with memberships. - immediately move the official SC stages into the regular USPSA classification system as classifiers. Set the 100% as current world records for each stage. - I don't know if the current classification system handles time-plus stages, but the hood is open on a new implementation of it, make it handle time-plus. - use your divisional USPSA classification for Steel Challenge matches. A shooter only shooting SC matches will ultimately get classified on 4 SC stages. Equal Treatment: - this is handled by unification, largely. But if they don't treat it like an important sport, it won't be. Modernization: - include the popular dynamic steel in the rule set - include the popular "par-time" aka "pro-am" type stage in the rule set Look to my Berry's Steel Open, first run this year, as a model of "modernization". It had all three types of stages. The only issue... many folks didn't like having the SC stages, so while we will still have them next year, we may have less. In other words, while the hood is open, fix stuff, don't just replicate, with a new tool, the old partitioned way of viewing the sport. And make it more interesting! While I'm on the soap box... develop a 50 round 3 gun classifier stage and start classifying multi-gun, again IN THE SAME system. So if I ever heal up enough to shoot again, I could be Limited M, RR A, and MG Tactical M. I like the 3GN guys a lot, but it pains me (as a business guy) to see an organization squander such an overwhelming market lead, like the USPSA has as practical shooting tilted towards multi-gun. At least put up a fight! Competition is good, last I checked it's still 'Merica! Unsolicited advice over. I'll resume my normal geeky activities. Ken N.
  15. If it doesn't look like the web post based grab of necessary info for steel will be working reasonably quick, then I'll add generation of that file ezSteel generates, like we did for the file ezWS generates. It's simple, but we are so busy if we don't have to do it, we'd prefer to avoid it.
  16. No idea on where to get ezSteel. You can, however, score steel challenge just fine with PractiScore. Ken N.
  17. I'll bring it up with them Zach. It seems like that could be important prior to Steel Challenge worlds. (-: And I didn't mean to imply HQ staff didn't know what we are up to; they do generally from a tech summit we had up there at the turn of the year. But the tech details are being handled by the three of us largely, except where it might impact rules or bylaws, where Troy is in on it as the interface to board and nroi. It's going slower than we want, which is what software does, but I'm pretty pleased with the end goal (as a member). Ken N.
  18. match results will be on ps.com, and in various support apps. There will be views on the USPSA website pulling out of PS, and in the USPSA app, identifying USPSA matches, and also showing by club, region, and other handy methods. There will also be a page for each member with activity, matches they are part of and other interesting facts.
  19. USPSA staff might not be aware of the details. It's a Ken & Boudrie & Rick (USPSA web dude) thing, and is work in progress. Here is current plan: - you designate a match, in PS upload, for submission to USPSA as activity. You can only do this if you are a) logged into USPSA ecosystem (or do log in) and are approved club contact. - when that match is tagged for activity / classifier submission, it is pulled in by USPSA web services where magic currently being developed happens - it presents you with a bill, finalizes all activity and classification system update on payment. I believe current druther is immediate payment with CC, but there may be a way to pay with check. I don't know that, but will ask. - classifications are immediate, but there may be a short delay for sanity checking or for you to go "oops" didn't mean that. - there will be checks to ensure the same match isn't submitted or paid for twice. All matches in PS have unique ids that never change. - classifier correction is done by PS edit, and repost. It will only recalculate changed scores for shooters that had a score in the same match id. He and I are chatting tomorrow, and I'll report the general scheme changes dramatically. Ken N.
  20. We and the USPSA are working on the part now where their automatic calculation of activity and classifiers happens by pulling data direct from PS. Priority is regular USPSA matches, then Steel Challenge. The first is pretty close, I don't think the second technically hard but may hold up pending administrative changes to how SCSA classifications work. I don't have much insight (or any really) into that. I'll see what info I can get.
  21. +1? Sorry for slow response. Traveling for 3GN Pro match with my son. We took that out cause it could be a security / privacy risk, and because we are adding an competitor oriented app dedicated to doing that (with more security/privacy controls and improved viewing/auto updating options). Also, we needed to tie it to the new results system (coming SOON - i hope...) with better searching/filtering and didn't want it to break. I would have preferred to release the new app and new results viewing concurrent to removing the feature but decided to take it out a bit earlier. Ken N.
  22. We experimented with their API and found it very slow to transfer shot data. If we could just get last "time", I guess it would be fast enough, but it took a long time (30 seconds or more) to get data from it. That's my memory... which is poor of late. So I'll check with Eugene and Russ and see if that jives with what they recall. Ken N.

  24. Hi, I generally use Comped for sponsored shooters, or those I'm helping for one reason or another (they donated or volunteered alternately). I'm likely to have this status also include Sponsored as an option, cause some matches (my own included) track that separately. Note also that you can set a custom price when approving a shooter, for instance for juniors, veterans, or some other class of shooter you want to help. Ken N.
  25. Thanks Bill. I'd wanted to change that for sometime but the iOS 7 "forced minimalist" approach hastened the need. Ken N.
