  1. Currently Milt Sparks has a 6 months backlog, unfortunately that is not an option...
  2. I did a search but given that the threads were old, I want to revisit the topic. Is there anything new in holsters for the VIP? Specifically I am looking for a IWB holster in kydex or leather / kydex . Anyone has modified an existing holster with any luck? like for a G19 or Colt Commander?
  3. Just to try a cheaper route here, what if I change the external recoil of the recoil master for a lower # spring (cuting its length of course)? I will give it a try and report back.
  4. Hi, I want to shoot some IDPA matches with my STI VIP 40 S&W (3.9" slide)and the Recoil Master (heavy) will not cycle with minor loads (stovepipe), I want to install a simple stainless guiderod (aluminum would be even better). What are my options? Can I buy a guiderod for a 5" and cut it to fit my 3.9" slide? Does the position of the takedown hole change with the length? Thanks for your help,
  5. Hi, I want to try VW N320 given that everyone swears by it. I need a starting point for 40 S&W major loaded long (OAL around 1.200) to use in an SVI, using 180gr bullets, either FMJ or plated. The load that I am using now is 4.8gr Titegroup, OAL 1.200 with 176gr plated round nose, it gives me a PF of 169. Thanks,
  6. No work on the barrel, just night sights and Ed Brown beavertail installed. He did a good job with the beavertail.
  7. I am going to check on that, thanks. I tried emailing Heine but they never responded. Do you measure the height from the top of the slide or bottom of the sight?
  8. I recently had the Heine straight eight tritrium sights installed in a Colt Commander in .45 ACP. After thoroughly testing the gun it is shooting 5" below point of aim at 30 feet. Given that the rear sight can't be raised, I am curious about what my options are. Does anyone know of an adjustable sight that would fit the Heine cut? Can the tritrium be installed? Can I file the front sight (trijicom) without affecting the tritrium insert?
  9. Only bullets, JHP or plated. No cleaning...just shoot it
  10. I have a Colt Commander that I bought used, that has a trigger shoe that is too long for my finger, I would like to replace it with an Infinity Trigger system (standard, not the triglide) and put a short, flat insert. I there any compatibility issues? I would also like to change the tiny, single sided, thumb safety for an Infinity or EGW big paddle one. Any issues that I should be aware, before I order it?
  11. 99% of shooters in Limited shoot 40S&W, cheaper, more capacity.
  12. +1 Forget the building hassle, buy a VIP in 9mm. You might have to wait some months for it though. I tried, had to setle for one in 40, that was in May and I am still waiting. Those VIP are selling like hotcakes!
  13. Conversion is not an option, the only 45 that I have is highly customized commander that I don't want to touch, I also have an SVI in .40 (USPSA dedicated), an STI in .38 super (IDPA gun), a CZ RAMI in .40, an STI VIP in .40 and Keltec P3-AT in .380. I am ok with buying a dedicated gun for the purpose, but it is not something that is going to be carried a lot, so I am not worried about the weight, with a good holster it just adds to the workout. The fact that I don't own any revolver adds to the equation.
  14. Agree, but I still want a gun that is comfortable to shoot so I can become proficient with it...for that reason I have discarded anything over .44 mag
  15. Thanks, I agree, when comparing the 629 in 4" against the Alaskan, the Alaskan is heavier even with a shorter barrel, in addition I love the looks, if only the would do the flat cilinder in 44 Mag.... I think that is the gun I want, I will keep my eyes open around the local shops... Any recommendations about a trigger job? I heard about a Wolf "spring package" for it.
  16. Cool thing about the 44 mag is you can run it 44 special for practice if the recoil from the 44 mag is "uncomfortable". I understand the 44 spl option but since I reload, I will stick with only one kind of brass. I have enough "plastic nuts containers" with .45, .40, .38super, 9 and .380
  17. Thanks for the replies. I have been looking at the Alaskan and I really like it! I will stick with 44 mag, my wife needs to be able to shoot it an she is only 5 feet tall.
  18. Hi, I have owned a long list of semiautomatic pistols but never a revolver so I need some advice before I spend my money Intended use: I am looking for a gun that I can conceal while hiking (bear protection, etc.) so I am thinking a double action 4" barrel in 44 magnum. What model / brand would you recommend? What holster? Being a cheapstake, I intend to buy it used. How do you check an used reveolver for function / timing / etc.? Thanks in advance for your help.
  19. I bought a new 140mm mag in 40 S&W and works fine with my SVI circa 1997
  20. Thnaks, it looks good as new now.
  21. I have similar tape in my SVI and it is starting to peel off at the top of the grip. Does anyone have any suggestions a what might be the best adhesive to fix it, other than pulling it all off and applying a new one? Thanks
  22. Thanks! It seems like it has been done...I will start low...
  23. Thanks, but I have been a member since 2004, always a lurker not much of a poster... Stupid question is it possible to use 115gr .355 for reloading 380? I have quite a bit of 115s... Will the pressure be too high?
  24. Hi, can anyone share a load for .380 using Titegroup? Thanks,
