  1. Where do you get one? Thanks Chances are your gun already has one. Look at the carrier. If there is a U shaped cut in it it's current. Remington has been using that feature for decades so unless you have a really old gun you should be okay. If your carrier is uncut call Brownells and order the Flex Tab conversion kit for It. The pic below is my two 870s. The one on the left is a 2003 (my house gun) and the one on the left a 1963. How difficult is the conversion kit to install? If using the Brownells kit, it takes about 10 minutes. field strip the gun and replace the bolt and cam block with the new ones in the kit. Remove the trigger group and replace the lifter with the one from the kit (1 pin). No modifications to the existing parts are necessary.
  2. get a Flexi-tab lifter, it lets you pump out a round that doesn't get caught by the stop in the mag, instead of pulling the trigger group.
  3. Wilson has factory take off stock sets on sale for $38
  4. The Brownells/remington dummies do better if you glue over the ends with something semi-flexible like liquid nails or a hot glue gun.
  5. FWIW, I put a Nordic +2 on my Auto-5 and with 2.75 shells and the origional follower it is actually a +3
  6. trigger reach is the same but there are fat and skinny A1 grips regarding the diameter
  7. Ok, maybe a little explanation or a picture of what broke or where you welded might be helpful... poor soldering job that only stuck at the front corner:
  8. Yes, it's an alley: The ammo I am going to start with is South African, mostly because the rest of my rifles like it and I have a gob of it. If it shoots ok, I'm good, but if it does not, I have several other options in the 150-155 range as well as FGMM 168's. Most of my local hipower guys shoot 155's out to 200, so I know the round is accurate, and finding a load that works is part of the fun of buying a new rifle. I really like this set up, you can use the sight housing for up close, and the insert for longer ranges (get the Shaver inserts). The problem is that the first match I shot with it, when I pulled the rifle out of the cart for the third stage the tube portion was broken off, it is soldered together. Since the manufacturer wasn't interested in replacing it, I welded it with .023 wire. I wouldn't wait for one to break, clamp it up and weld it from the start.
