Well forgetting about panal cutting it to the front of the slide. I allready smoothed out the serrations and have been shooting it that way in ESP for about 5 years, local matches only. Never had anyone say anything. If removing metal from the end of the muzzel even If decrotive is against the spirit of idpa, I don't want to do it. What concerns me now it that I may be using equipment that is against the rules. I'm going to take some pics of my smoothed out serrations and send them to HQ. I don't see any way this gives me an advantage but idpa is a game and I want to play fair. I hope I don't have to fit a new slide to feel like I'm not a cheat. It has been accurailed and has a barsto bbl fitted ect.

When I originaly smoothed them out I was useing a leather sholder rig. The muzzle extended past the leather, when I would holster and unholster during the day it would saw at the holster. The original old style para serrations were sharp and close together. Not like the current ones. When I started shooting idpa i had to use a strong arm side holster. After a few months of practicing I retired the sholder rig in favor of what I was practicing with. For a few years I wished I could use the sholder rigs for matches as I eas use to it. At this point I would not switch back. I have become use to carrying on my hip . Hope this makes sence. Of course this is just my experience. Sorry for any typos. Replying on my phone.

competitive advantage. None I smoothed out the front serrations so I would stop beating up my leather carry holster. The weight for that was nominal, say 1/8 an ounce at most. When possible I buy my 1911's without them. I just don't care for them.

I will email them and see if they get back to me. I did some web searching and found this. http://www.wilsoncombat.com/p_ultralight.asp they call them carry cuts. This seems promising since it is on a Wilson pistol and does not say it is for a competitive advantage. I'm not a fan of the ball mill part but that's why we don't all have the same gun.

Max weight for ESP is 43 oz with an empty magazine. I an right at 43 oz. If my gun was really dirty I might be over. Lol I want to do it for cosmetic reasons. I just think it would look awesome. Yes panal cut was the term I was looking for. I guess the correct way to ask is.... Can I finish the panal cut from the rear of the front serrations to the front of the slide?

I run a para 16-40 in esp I cut my front serrations out. Basicly made it a smooth indent. I have been running this way for years. The question is can I continue this to the front of the slide? Like a browning hi power? Or would this fall under slide lightening? Thanks for any input. IMG_2261.JPG

The tfo concept looks interesting. I'm going to sleep on it and probably order the trijicon from Dawson. I have had great service from him in the past. Thanks for the link as I didn't think to look there. I don't think I need the rear with dots,just the front. My factory para rear broke years ago and I put a real bomar from Dawson on it. Pros and cons of rear dots on a match gun? Thanks again for the genuine help.

Ok so if I want to try the trijicon what do I order? Novak cut, .125 wide, .200-.250 high, with the white around the vial. I searched the trijicon site but came up empty.

-1 In poor light, the fiber does not glow. It's effectively blacked out. Are the targets big/close so that you can index off the silhouette of the gun? My draw is not too bad 1.6-2.0 from concealment at a 10 yard target consistantly in competion. Faster in practice The problem is mostly the all important head shots and transitions in poor light. I am only 35 but I don't see as much contrast as I use to in low light conditions. I will give the orange red a try. I assumed the green would be the brightest. Many of the stages the front sight is just black. Anyone using a night sight with any positive results? Is there a good one that is .1 or .125 wide or would this be too thin to make the vial usefull? Ok here is the info. I shoot idpa only indoor matches near me. I shoot a two ranges a month. Both of them are poorly lit. Usually on purpose. I use a para 16-40 in ESP class. I have a bomar rear and Dawson fiber front with green rod. I am having a difficult time picking up the front sight. I have tried simulating the lighting in dry fire practice but I'm still taking to long to find it in these conditions. Is there a brighter front sight? Are any of you guys using night sights for indoor shooting? Any experience or advise would be great. Sorry for any typos, posting on my phone

My airsoft showed up today. I am surprised it is nicer than I expected and shoot pretty accurate for what it is. I was able to make 3" groups at 7 yds in rapid fire drills. One 10 second fill of green gas will run a 28 round mag and lock back on the last shot. I also downloaded the surefire shottimmer app for my iphone and positioned just right it will pick up the airsoft being fired. Look out guys I may get "good" one of these days

Good afternoon, I am looking into an airsoft for training. I have been shooting idpa on and off for about 10 years. I would like to find an airsoft as close to my match gun as possible. I shoot a para 16-40 limited , bomar rear, dawson front, s&a magwell. There seems to be many airsofts out there and I am looking for something that should run good. Any advice on what and who to buy from would be great. Thanks.

I use a wilson stainless protector, only mod I made was an ed brown extended wide thum saftey. It has never let me down so If I had to do it again I would buy the wilson again.

Don't know for sure. I load my .40 for idpa 125pf and have had no problems loading 7-8 times, by then I loose it as I don't pick it up at matches only at practice.

I have had good luck with the s&a on the wide paras, I have not found a baseplate that does not fit in it.

I have a .40 bar sto in my para. The key with any barrel is fit. I have about 12,000 rounds in the bar sto and have been pleased. It is still more accurate than I am.

I wish I could make as much time as you guys I shoot 2 matches a month at the local level. I go to the range once a week for live fire practice. I am hoping to increase my shooting this spring.
