  1. try hodgdon clays. 2.6 grs w/ a 125 cast gives around 860'ish out of my 9mm limited. fills the case 'bout 1/3 and you can see it in the case on my rl550. tried the titegroup thing but was uncomfortable w/ the miniscule charge and burned way too hot and smoked more w/ bayou bullet greens. solo 1000 is a good powder but comes 12 ozs as opposed to a full pound w/ clays = more bang 4 $. very clean also. 150 rounds leaves a little smudge around muzzle and bore looks as tho it has not been fired. great 12 ga powder as well for target loads. very pleased, vic
  2. dawson makes a fo front in a couple different heights for the limited, the smallest width being .100 for around 40-50 $
  3. changed out the factory sight on my limited to a .160x.100 dawson fo. now kinda wish i spent the extra $30 for the henning. i would have thought that the .100 width would have made a big difference, but has not for me. sometimes i swear that there was no change at all to my sight picture.for myself, i would like to try a .090 front. best i can measure, the fo rod on the dawson front goes .040. vic
  4. thought i saw somewhere a micrometer adjustable powder bar for a 550b. e-mail to dillon says they don't make one. anybody know? sure would be nice as my 9mm eaa limited needs a different load than my wife's trojan 9mm. many thanks, laura&vic
  5. what skydiver and phx said, the limited is worth waiting for! as a noob to these guns after shooting 1911's for years, the difference is nite and day! stay w/ the s/a trigger. the full length dust cover along w/ the lower bore axis kicks any 1911's butt handily in recoil and muzzle flip. get a henning extra long firing pin and you are good to go for even wolf or rifle primers. i have found that oils do not stay long on this gun but enos slide glide lite works like a champ! be prepared to spend a few bucks for mags tho. this gun ain't your momma's 1911. laura&vic
  6. have ya'll noticed that the new k9 9mm mags have what feels like twice the spring that the older mags had? i was running a 6 lb recoil spring in my limited with some 820 fps loads and would not chamber a round when you hit the slide release. chopped a coil off the spring, and then another, before it would reliably chamber a round with henning h-400 basepads. since, i have changed powders and went up to 860 fps with no ill effects. they will feed all 17 rounds to slide lock. just curious, vic
  7. came home after a very hot day @ work w/ neck and left shoulder spasaming and really just pissed off! sat down and checked my e-mails and started fretting over my gun again as to which way i want to go w/ it. i remembered someone telling me that his grips were too thick and was causing some binding. i dismissed that in my case,, as i knew there was something else at work here, but what the f***. took the grips off, inserted a new k9 mag, held it up to a light, lo and behold, a high spot half way up the inside of the back strap! 5 minutes w/ my dremel and a sanding drum the problem is solved! now the front spacer mags will go back to henning and it's balls-out from here on out. want to thank ya'll for your input and offers as it is much appreciated! regards, laura&vic
  8. if i don't get an answer locally 'bout cutting my gun for the new mags, maybe between nelio & yourself i would like to put together 5,6,7 of the rear block mags. let me know what u got & what u want. most cordially, laura&vic
  9. david s, they are the k9 mags w/ black follower and they just don't fit. i do not understand why they would increase the depth by .023" when all the rest hovered around 1.350. i am trying to research the mfg date on my pistol, 31xxx. maybe i don't have an out of spec gun but have a good one built before they realized a problem and started cutting them a little more oversize. if i can solve this problem without cutting it, that's the way i want to go. thanks for your input, vic
  10. can anyone here pull up mfg dates by ser # on a tanfo limited? most cordially, vic
  11. i always just field stripped them and threw them in the dishwasher.
  12. nealio, ordered 2 of the new mags from henning couple weeks ago. both mags measured 1.373 x .850. 023" too deep. mags bound up half way inserted and had to be pushed out thru ejection port when fully inserted. these are the new meg-gar mags. went round a bit w/ henning's but was sent two of the older mags to try and they work fine. i don't load more than 7 rnds anyway for the game i shoot w/ it. i would preffer the new mags but don't know if i would expect someone to mic their entire stock to accomodate someone that might have an out of spec gun. the alternative would be to have the frame relieved but feel it's kinda bass akwards to make the gun fit the mag! mic some of your 9mm mags and let me know what you get. thanks, vic
  13. finally got my 9mm limited running but only with some of the previous generation mags. the new mags are just too big to use without modifing the inside of the frame of my pistol. henning has a few left but, where to go when his stock is exhausted? these are the one's w/ red follower and small block in front. anyone know of other vendors that might still stock them? most cordially, vic
  14. the games we shoot do not require a power factor. settled on a load of 4.5 aa-5 w/ 125 gr bayou green for around 850 fps.then tried power pistol, 3.9 grs @ 820 fps and brass lands @ our feet from an sti trojan & an eaa limited in 9mm. a bonus is the power pistol is available around here for a savings of $5 a pound and takes up 'bout the same room as the aa-5 load. shot some 3.0 of titegroup for 900 fps but it burned really hot and recoil felt 3x snappier! power pistol in the reduced loads is very soft. our .02. laura&vic
  15. the mag funnel nor the mag catch are the issue here, the mags are too deep- 1.372 as opposed to 1.350. when the temp drops to around 75 degrees here i can get one of the two empty mags to drop, albeit slowly, the other is a waste of time!i don't know if i have an out of spec gun or mags, but i do know that my 1.350x.850 factory mag does not exibit any of these problems. these are the new 9mm mags. most cordially, vic problem solved. no complaints! vic

  17. david s they do have k9 stampted on them and they are still too big. vic
  18. glefos, by all means pass this along as i have been waiting to speak with someone, anyone, to rectify this bit of difficulty. vic
  19. not trying to flame the guy so don't take this the wrong way. the rest of my order from him arrived w/ no complaints what-so ever. just the fact that after a business week has elapsed and virtually no contact, leaves me feeling a bit alienated. i'm sure his reputation has been well earned as per his name being mentioned soo prominantly on the various forums. people should expect timely replies to inquires when problems arise and efforts made to correct them to both parties satisfaction. that is all i am asking. i would think that a week would have been long enough to speak with someone in his organization to help resolve this. i realize people are busy, as am i. in a business environment, it makes good business sense, to stay on top of your business. most cordially, victor emanuel
  20. recieved my order last monday for 2 mags w/ h-400 base pads. both mags bind in magwell when being inserted empty and have to be pushed out thru the ejection port. these appear to be the new mags with cut-out for the slide lock & witness holes. mic'ed my factory mag & got 1.350 x .850 @ catch slot. new mags go 1.373 X .850, too big rite? according to his website, large frame mags are 1.350 x .850. here's where the problem really starts! for the past six days i have been calling 2-3 times daily and only spoken w/ an answering machine. called directory assistance, got another # and guess what, another machine! e-mailed "questions" address and got reply asking if it is a small frame after i had included all info on measurements.i replied w/ a somewhat scathing e-mail wanting this solved, so far, nothing! no returned calls, no e-mail, WHO IS THIS GUY! anyone have similar problems, suggestions? he has pocketed $120 of my money and i feel like i'm being given the finger! most cordially & plenty torqued! vic
  21. mags are binding empty. base pads do not increase capacity. width of mag is o.k. these are the ones w/ witness holes.
  22. just recieved 2 new mags for my 9mm limited and they are grossly oversize. my factory mag mic's 1.340 x .840 and the new ones go 1.372 x .843. the mags start to bind half way into the gun and when fully seated need to be pushed out thru the ejection port. in other words, un- useable. have tried calling the vendor but am waiting for a reply and e- mailed just a few minutes ago. i believe these are the new meg-gar mags w/ the notch in the side for the slide stop and black follower and vendors alum base pad. anyone else have a similar problem? most cordially, vic
